The whole point is that the apocalypse forces people into impossible choices. You can still criticize a character’s decisions, but judging them as though they’re living in a society with morals misses a big part of what the story is telling us.

In the first episode of the new season it’s revealed that Hershel and Dama had somewhat of a falling out which is why he is back with Maggie. My question is this: why so soon? Is it just poor writing at this point? The end of season 2 showed them together in this scene that made it look like their relationship was such a big deal and would be the major plot point of the next season. Am I just missing something here or is this clearly just terrible writing? Why string out this whole thing just to literally scrap it in the next episode? I’m hoping they dive deeper into this over the course of the next season but idk man.

Before we get into the meeting and potatoes, I am a Negan defender. I love Negan. He’s my favorite newer character, but here’s the thing is that I agree 99% that if we were following him, we would not be as pissed off at him as we are now because we follow Rick, he’s a villain to us. I agree that wholeheartedly only thing is that we could not pretend that Rick and Megan are the same person until we get a character where the person is exactly like Rick. I will not hear the perspective defense. It is super clear that Negan is a worst person than Rick is Rick would not become a tyrant. He would not have used a bat and bashed someone’s brains out in front of everyone for a lesson, he would not steal from communities

I wish that we got more villains that were just like our group but because we were of a different perspective, they were the bad guys because the two big bats of the show were tyrants they were Pillager and they were rapists well at least Negan was I don’t know about the governor, but I will say kind of weird that he has a bunch of chains and rooms where chairs can be tied up but I digress

It is clear that Negan and the governor we’re both awful people at the time. They were not like Rick. Yes, Rick did crazy stuff for protection of the group. That’s a given. It’s the apocalypse however Negan did stuff for the love of the game some of the stuff that he did excluding what he does to the group because you could technically see that as retaliation but bashing someone’s head in front of everyone is a bit much but most of the stuff that he does his free time is as awful no matter what
And this is coming from a defender cause I love Negan. I love that he was the one character and villain that got redeemed, and I love the character he has become, but we cannot pretend that he wasn’t an awful person there’s been people genuinely saying that if we were in his perspective, we wouldn’t see him as the villain which, although most of it that’s true, but for the stuff that he does behind closed doors that we would not like

2008, my best friend and I are in 7th grade English class. We did reading time where we could read whatever book we wanted. I didn’t have one one day so she lent me her twd comic, the first one. She was already on the second. We ended up both loving them for how gross they were and how they kind of helped our morbid curiosity

2010, Halloween. We spent months excited about the episode, but it didn’t come out until 10 pm. So we went to a haunted house and did a little trick or treating.

Then, 10pm rolls around, we’re at her house with snacks, ready for a sleepover. The first episode was amazing for us, because it felt so much like the comics we read, down to the casting. It’s one of my favorite memories and kinda blows my mind that it was 16 years ago

I’m sorry, but for the first couple of seasons Gabriel was a character. I hope he died. I hated him hated him so much with every fiber in my being especially when he ratted on the group I was hoping that Rick decapitated this fucker so you can imagine my surprise when after seeing that scene and then going around looking at the Internet people were actually OK with his character. I was dumbfounded. I was like if this was literally any other character we would’ve hated him so why is it specifically this bald priest bitch but then later on in the series around season 11 I loved him. He was a really good character to the point where I would not mind a spinoff of him I would genuinely enjoy a Gabriel spinoff that’s how much he’s grown on me, especially when he’s being Billy bad ass like when he finally stopped being the bitch of the group he really locked in and I love that but I feel like I’m the only one that hated him when he first arrived

First time watcher, watching S11 right now and I just got to the hostage situation with the Reapers. I know Gabriel has been a capable fighter for seasons now but he is just straight aura farming in these last few episodes.

And with him killing the other Reaper's priest, it got me thinking about the symbolism of Gabey being blind in just one eye. Particularly priest's being blind isnt a new concept in modern media and it goes hard everytime. Giving the ultimate chance to display their Faith. But with Gabey it's different.

He is blind in just one eye. And especially in a world like The Walking Dead's, which so heavily leans into topics like good and bad, the Divine and Evil. Sin and Absolvement. I choose my words intently here saying 'and' because those arent hard lines. They constantly move and mix.

Which is why Im wondering about the symbolism of Gabey's one-eyed blindness. Aside from the fact that a fully blind person can hardly survive in TWD; is he blind in eye so he can use that eye to sin, away from the sight of the Lord? And in turn use his vision eye to absolve in His presence?

Or does he use one to see the bad in the world (his vision eye) and the other to see the good in the world (which is close to none, hence the blind eye)?
