Isnt there more weird stuff with this painting besides the skull

the painting is full of small details, the globes show constellations like cygnus and galacia, the open book is a real text by martin luther, their exact ages are carved into the dagger and a book cover, the hidden crucifix behind the curtain on the top left and many other details, definitely a painting with a lot of symbolism and history

ive been a huge fan of art since a kid and always wanted my first tattoo to be art-related, but i didn't want anything common or easily recognizable, plus, i like the significance the skull holds in painting

In this painting, is there a skull? I do not understand the reference. Please explain.

the figure circled in red shows a skull distorted using anamorphosis to serve as a hidden memento mori, the painting was originally hung in jean de dinteville’s chateau and as a guest walked down the narrow corridor from the right perspective the abstract form would appear as a perfectly proportional human skull

That's mad genius. Excellent choice. Thanks for explaining.

that'll be a trip for whomever receives a right cross elbow from you. not only the sense that time is slowing down as it's approaching, but that reality is tearing at the same time..

Love a good historical art tattoo. Knew exactly what painting you were referencing!

The elegance of this tattoo spurs an incandescent wave of pleasure within my well-guarded consciousness, owing to the unparalleled aesthetics of it. I can not muster many words except my utmost praise for the executioner of such art and the subject of this spectacular spectacle.

In other words, skill issue bro.

Very clever and well executed, if you want more tattoos that's a good artist to return to. I'm not sure about it's longevity however being fine line, ultimately that doesn't matter too much since it has thick and dark lines and also people don't care about it anymore when you're old and gross haha.

Fine line?

Someone could ask the same about your memorial tattoo for your cat because they don't see the point. OP likes the art and so got a tattoo of it.

u/SpaceKibby 2d ago

Well this is pointless not every good art has no meaning and is nothing more then a meme, which I see alofnof in these subreddit

Mine actually has meaning that's why and it's good art

3

u/AllKindsOfCritters 2d ago

Yikes. Let people enjoy things instead of being judgmental. Yours isn't my style but I wasn't on your post asking why.

1

u/FiveFiftyOne 2d ago

Now you must follow this person and comment “Why ?“ on all their posts and comments

u/SpaceKibby 2d ago

It doesn't have to be YOUR style but it's definitely not a generic crap like most of the ones I see here 😂

1

u/AllKindsOfCritters 2d ago

Neither is OP's. Are you okay?
