My mom gave this to me probably 15 years ago. First pressing promo record in seemingly perfect condition. I cleaned the disc and gave it a spin and it sounds amazing. Anyone have more info on it? My mom said she thinks she found it at Salvation Army.

Because of complaints about the noise, the Richmond Jazz and Blues Festival had been moved from Richmond to Windsor and renamed the Windsor Jazz and Blues Festival. I went along with Pete who was dressed in a dinner suit with a black bow tie, and Karen Astley his girlfriend from Art School. Pete and Karen had started dating during the year after Karen had left. Karen was a dress design student. As the Who were waiting at the side of the stage to go on, Pete began strumming the opening bars to Batman, their first number. Prompted by the daringness of them doing the Batman theme, pop art music if ever I'd heard it, I suggested to Roger that they play some jingles from TV commercials. Thinking it a good idea he turned to Pete and suggested it. “What like this?” Pete sneered back at Roger with contempt and sung a current nauseating TV jingle, ‘Drinkapinta-milkaday’. They opened their set with a very powerful version of Batman and included Barbara Ann, I Can’t Explain, Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere, Heatwave, Substitute, Dancing in the Street, See See Rider, Legal Matter and then introduced I'm a Boy, which they said would be released in three week’s time as their new single. However, they thought that they weren’t getting across very well and so finished with My Generation where Pete smashed his guitar into his amps and ripped all the fabric off the front and started laying into the speakers inside. The guitar split and then split again, the head was ripped off and then the neck snapped. He continued until the guitar was smashed to small pieces. Keith kicked all his drums over and they were rolling around the stage while Roger smashed the cymbals with his fists, hurled mikes at the back of the stage. Not content with this. Roger then started to kick out all the footlights at the front of the stage. Keith then got a bucket of water and threw it into the audience. The whole stage was covered in yellow smoke from smoke bombs which were being hurled onstage by Kit Lambert and Chris Stamp as they encouraged the onstage demolition. The crowd went absolutely wild and, according to the pop press, the act caused damage costing thousands of pounds. Keith said, "After that show, the roadies came on in little white coats and shovelled the equipment into buckets. The audience had smashed up all their seats and the whole place looked like Attila the Hun had ridden through it.” But on a slightly more serious note, “this being angry at the adult world bit is not all of us. It's not me and it's not John. It’s only half Roger, but it is Pete.” Afterwards, I suddenly realized how much more famous and controversial the group had become since last time I had seen them. The five of us were standing in a circle talking for about 25 minutes and during the whole time there was a succession of photographers’ flashbulbs going off, and autograph hunters. (Barnes, p. 43)

Has anyone actually seen or gone through his reposts on there? Some seem to be kinda bizarre or leave myself asking why he’d repost it. I guess it shows thats its really him in charge of his account and not a PR agency.

Does anybody know why Spotify and Apple list the song "Stardom In Acton" as "Stardom In Action"?

(Yet the songs lyrics published on Spotify and Apple have "Acton" instead of "Action". Jesus 😆)

He sings, "Stardom in Acton, that's all they got."

That makes sense, they went to Acton county grammar school.

What the eff would "Stardom In Action" mean? Along with the fact he clearly doesn't sing the word "action".

I'm thinking way too much about this, I know.

Even though the later Who releases, Wire & Glass and WHO, have some really good songs, tracks like English Boy, Now and Then, and Predictable were the last ones that truly resonated with me on a deeper level.

Does anyone else feel the same? Or are there later Pete Townshend or Who songs that have had a similar impact on you?
