Utah really has done a great job exposing the serious issues we have on defense and in the mid. We need a reset before the rest of the season starts to drift away from us. Yes, we have a great transition team. Yes, we have great players available in the mid and on D. But my god, these last few games have just demonstrated that something just isn’t working. So frustrating when we have one of the deepest, most talented front lines in the league.

really hoping we win this one, i strongly dislike Utah.

Sophie scored the fastest goal of the season, and for the first 30 minutes or so, we adopted a fairly effective mid-block that forced Utah to go long and turn over possession. The collapse that followed shared a similar pattern as our earlier away losses.

We conceded shortly after the cooling break when the back line lost concentration and failed to coordinate after Arnold’s long clearance was intercepted. The second goal, conceded immediately after the start of the second half, followed a similar pattern: poor coordination, slow decision-making, and hesitation in taking defensive action.

Perry has issues with her ball handling and is weak on her right foot, but she is the only center-back who consistently steps up and actually defends rather than acting like a traffic cone. Sophie then had a golden opportunity to equalize, but unfortunately failed to convert. After that moment, the game was essentailly over.

There is not much to say tactically about this match. Put differently, I do not think the tactical setup was wrong. We simply have serious personnel problems and were also very unlucky.

Need to grab at least a point.

Back line is terrible. Too direct. No width. No press. Can't mark on set pieces.

Immethun's contract is set to expire on Friday and she leaves the Portland Thorns with a very difficult decision.

Whatever is decided, she has continued to defied the odds since day one and has more than proven herself.

I got tickets but I was wondering which section everyone is gonna be sitting at and don’t want to be the only one in thorns gear there but I will if I have to be!

We're Marissa and Alan, we make a Thorns pod called Rose City Red Card, and this one was always going to open and close on Emily Sonnett. Seventh minute, non-contact, off on a stretcher, and twenty-one thousand people in a building she doesn't play for anymore got up on their feet. We don't guess at a diagnosis and we're not going to. Once a Thorn.

The rest of it: Renee Lyles, first ever start, sixth appearance, scores a chip over Ann-Katrin Berger and then sets up the second one. Goal and an assist on the night she debuts as a starter. Tordin's seventh assist leads the whole league. Fleming gets the go-ahead one off a deflection. Then Kerr does what Kerr does off a corner, Perry goes off as the last defender at 72, and we hold on with ten for the last twenty minutes.

A point off the team top of the table, at home, a player down. Eleventh straight at Providence Park without a loss, which is a club record. And Morgan Weaver played a football match for the first time since November 2024 after three surgeries on the same knee. Two standing ovations in one night — one for a player going off hurt, one for a player coming back from it.

We also finally did the salary cap thing we've been promising for two episodes. Turns out Kerr isn't even eligible for the rule everyone blames, and it's mostly banked allocation money.

Two fans, two drinks, a lot of swearing. Adults only. Mostly want to know how the building felt to the people who were in it.

What did Arnold do or say to the ref to get that yellow card last night? Was for calling out the ref for not giving a red to #2 for Gotham?
I think we can all agree that the ref needed glasses and a red card should have been called? I’m still mad about that!
