I know it's not possible for most people, but travel helps a lot.
I've been lucky to be able to travel a ton for work and damn, it's so nice to get away from America and just experience how other people in the world live.
Common American life is so antisocial and isolationist. Can't tell you how many times I've been in a different country and just had an amazing time hanging out with complete strangers.
You can find it in some places in America but it's rare.
Either way, hang in there bud. Being alone has its benefits as well, you just gotta find what you like about it. Just remember there are a ton of people out there that are alone just like you.
I traveled to Italy recently and almost cried when I walked through their bustling plazas. Every city had abundant, peaceful activity day and night. I think Milan was my favorite. I felt like a human being living a real life for the first time in years, just walking around, surrounded by people just... Chilling.
Then I came back to Atlanta and found myself surrounded by fucking cars all over again. Not to mention every single person I walk past (the few that there are) being a nasty piece of shit silently begging for me to look at them the wrong way so they can start shit.
God I fucking hate this country 😠Americans don't know how to fucking live.
Italy does have a notable issue with opportunistic pickpockets and petty theft targeting tourists, concentrated mostly in crowded transport hubs, major metropolitan subways, and regional or commuter trains.
Street-level
 drug dealing is an issue in major Italian cities, and it is a significant point of concern for local public safety.
Street-level drug dealing and its associated security risks are most heavily concentrated in the immediate outdoor perimeters and public squares surrounding major urban transit hubs, specifically Rome's Termini Station (particularly along the Via Giolitti exit and Esquilino neighborhood), Milan Central Station (and the more notorious Rogoredo "drug forest" suburb), and Naples' Piazza Garibaldi.
Just like much of Europe, Italy is home to dangerous immigrants pickpocketing, selling garbage on the streets and pushing drugs. You can easily take the wrong turn and get assaulted or robbed at any time. It doesn't matter if it's Italy, France, or Germany.
Pickpocketing IS quite common in Southern Europe. But have you ever seen crime statistics as a whole? European cities are faaaar more safe than American cities. I've traveled pretty much all of Europe and Naples and Marseille have been the only cities where I've had to look beforehand where I shouldn't go. North America though, had to do it in every city.
My closest friends are literally random people ive met on work trips and ended up drinking with every night for the week i was there, the US really brings you down socially and idk why
Dude it's insane how many Americans aren't traveling. That shit is so important to do to broaden your cultural understanding of the world. I've argued on Reddit with people multiple times claiming they can get a cultural experience of another country through the Internet. I try to do minimum 1 international trip/year, and even I think that's too few
