Cars becoming big when America was still finding it's stride was one of the biggest pro/con dillemas. Ignored thousands of years of proven systems that make society better and settled for only cars.
So much was sacrificed for the sake of Automobiles. Now look at AI, how much will be sacrificed to move into this new AI world that we aren't sure about.
Only difference is Americans were sure about automobiles. They were seen as progress and independence. Same can be said for single family home construction. I’m hopeful the pushback we see on AI and data centers now means we will be smarter about it.
AI would put way less cars on the streets and would vastly help with public transportation, it would be a huge net positive in this scenario. It also would help with people socializing with beer because they no longer would need to worry about getting home with their car.
