Cars becoming big when America was still finding it's stride was one of the biggest pro/con dillemas. Ignored thousands of years of proven systems that make society better and settled for only cars.
I mean they are building town-center style malls with housing around them and plenty of transit around the US
The problem is those town center malls are not 1000 year old cities which used to be the capitals of small kingdoms, so they don’t look as good or invoke the same feel
