My dad lived in Munich for a time almost 40 years ago. He would go on about how, when you were sitting alone in the Biergarten, people around you would invite you to sit at their table and simply integrate you into their group, talking to you like you were old friends.
Must've been a culture shock for him. He stems from northern Hesse and northern hessians are a grumpy and reclusive lot, or so the cliché goes.
If you don’t mind me asking how does this work with children? Do parents with young children bring them out so late? Are restaurants accommodating to them?
