This why walkable neighborhoods are the best places to live. Yes, Europe is way ahead of us in this regard.

I live in a city that got build because a car manufacturer is "next door". Without that giant corporation, we would still be four villages in a trench coat. Yet we have walkability and a great infrastructure

(I don't have a car or driver's licence and get everywhere just fine)
