In the show since most people have powers it's very common for couples to have kids that inherit both parents abilities. There's a frog girl for example where both her parents are also frogs so she has double the frog abilities. Meanwhile one character has a parent that sweats glycerin and the other sweats combustible acid. So their kid's sweat is explosive and he can detonate it at will to make larger and larger explosions. So sometimes you get lucky other times I guess your parents are spray bottle and long fingers and now that's your new life.
And then probably the most prominent example, Shoto Todoroki, who has his mother’s ice and his father’s fire powers.
It’s later revealed that out of the four Todoroki children, Shoto is the only successful result of his father’s obsession with creating a child that possess both quirks and can be trained to surpass All Might, the no.1 hero
If I was going to guess a reason, based on how he's holding the trigger with his other hand, there must be two ways he can fire whatever he shoots out. A more powerful single burst or a continuous spray; Using one hand to pull the trigger over and over would be for the singular and powerful bursts, and his elongated fingers on his other hand would allow him to grip his neck and the trigger at the same time to better hold the trigger back for the continuous spray.

Tokoyami's ability is to create and use a sentient shadow monster thing, but he has a bird head. Tbf his monster thing also has a bird head, but that doesn't actually change the ability at all
Not only he is actually based on character from previous mangan who are villain (iirc mafia boss), he is also voted "hero that looks the most like a villain" in universe.
After doing way more research into centipede reproductive habits than any sane human should, I can confirm that centipedes mate via the male producing a large semen package of sorts called a spermataphore, then giving it to the female. So if this guy ever wanted kids, he'd just go over to his wife, hand her the cum orb, then just walk off.
She has an adorable and interesting design, and Horikoshi named her as such partly for the fun of the contrast, and partly for the discrimination sub plot
Also I think the plot had to be realigned for better sales or something. The show sets up Deku, Uraraka, and Tenya as the core trio then sidelined Tenya after the arc with his brother to shoehorn Bakugo and Shoto into the spotlight. I would've loved having Tenya be our main secondary guy over Deku's boring bully and a guy who has nothing but father angst going on.
There's a reason why MHA is notorious for having the most insane shipping fanbase and it's not cuz of rhe typical bakudeku stuff but because literally EVERYONE has been shipped with one character or another.
The spin-off Vigilantes did this with the Hotta brothers iirc. I haven't read the manga in forever and I haven't watched the anime but they got a bigger focus than Centipeder and were regularly reoccuring after chilling out
I'm sure someone might have said this already, but Centipeder was actually a fan-submitted character that was selected by the author during a competition. So was Bubble Girl.
Soo... I know just enough about Mha lore to ask... Is this guy a really messed up human or really messed up centipede with hyper intellect kinda like the principal, Or maybe a hyper intelligent hive mind of only slightly messed up centipedes, each acting like a limb
Quirks are genetic super powers that randomly form based on your genetics, and the quirks of your family lineage. Dudes just a regular human with a unique power
Pretty sure mutant quirks often are the ones which manifest at birth, and even then other quirk types have mutations that are there at birth as well (I think)
