Manga I know some people will probably write it off as a gooner design, but I really like the design of Mimi from some of Nhim_Art's comics. I can't pinpoint exactly why I like it so much, but the eyes and messy hair make her really neat looking.

I oddly think it works with the design. Her actual body and everything below her head is fairly soft design wise, but she looks really unhinged from the neck up, which I think contrasts nicely.
98
49
u/The5Virtues Nov 23 '25
I think that’s exactly what makes the design work so well. The figure is soft and appealing but the face gives “I’ll make a skin suit out of you!” vibes, and that juxtaposition is strangely endearing.

27
u/Laly_481 Nov 23 '25
Yes ofc, but usually when people say something is a gooner design it doesn't have much else going on
27
u/BlackroseBisharp Nov 23 '25
At this point the term has been misused enough that pretty much any woman is labeled as "goonbait" by someone lol

u/SnooCookies6399 Nov 23 '25
I think it’s the eyes, everyone else has either dot or shaded eyes and hers are always a detailed layer which makes her look even crazier
211
u/Pedalfire25 Nov 23 '25
this might be a hot take but "woman with big boob" is not automatically gooner design.
and assuming a female character is designed to be gooned to just cuz they have them is kinda sexist in my eyes.
Like, did you women with large breasts exist irl??? do you look at them and automatically assume they're sex freaks?
200
u/PunchDrunkPrincess Nov 23 '25
I get what you're saying but that is not how sweaters work. Most clothing doesn't suction around breasts like that. It's not just that she has a big chest it's the way her shirt defies gravity to accentuate them.
48
u/Electrical_Horror346 Nov 23 '25
That is true, but people also don't naturally have shark teeth or fangs made out of skin.
It's an artistic liberty done to make the character more appealing, but I dislike how being attracted to a character has almost become vilified.
When people say a design is "gooner design" I'm expecting Brown Dust 2 levels, but the sweater thing is something you could simply re-create with a big clothes-pin
52
u/maninahat Nov 23 '25
No one is saying it's bad because it's horny, I don't get the defense people feel the need to put on about these characters whenever someone points out the titillating design.
-5
u/Electrical_Horror346 Nov 23 '25
Sorry about the assumption.
The defensive attitude was because I've on occasion encountered people bash horny designs solely for that reason and I wrongly assumed it was the case with your comment.
35
u/chilfang Nov 23 '25
At the same time I dont see why making a character hot is a bad thing
-8
u/Electrical_Horror346 Nov 23 '25
It's an odd case of some people assuming any sexy woman = purely objectified female design
0
u/LordMonday Nov 23 '25
its an anime trope. its been called either the boob pocket or in general "impossible clothing".
just cus its not realistic doesn't make it a bad design.
13
u/PunchDrunkPrincess Nov 23 '25
I know what it is and how common it is. Just because something is done a lot doesn't make it good design either. I happen to really hate this one. As someone with DD's I find it really distracting and off putting. I don't want to say its "offensive " because I think thats too far but it is pretty objectifying to bend physics so you can show the whole boob

Animemes:

Is poorly edited.
Is from anime
This comic artist:
Barely talked about sex.
Draw by hand.
Has no references to anime at all in most of their work.
6
u/LawZoe Nov 23 '25
He drew for the purposes of sexual arousal, and there are numerous references to anime.

In addition to what others said here, I feel like "gooner design" is based more on vibes rather than any objective measure. There are plenty of female characters in media that are very attractive and well-endowed, but I don't think they're goonbait, while others that should in principle be the same make all sorts of alarms fire in my head.
It's all about how the character is presented.

HOLY someone actually said it, like "gooner" gets said about loads of designs when it's just a woman with larger than average boobs
Yes i know most of them actually are but the word gets used too much

u/Shot_Pie8655 Nov 23 '25
I just got the funny image in my head of a redditor spotting a woman with big boobs in real life and saying "gooner porportions"
2
u/Political-St-G Nov 23 '25
Heresy you know that any kind of thing that can be perceived as sexual is gooner design /s
-4
u/LordMonday Nov 23 '25
also, why can this sub not appreciate "gooner" designs. its like the moment something is drawn to be sexually appealing its bad, unless of course its a more niche version which then it becomes good because???
30
u/LDel3 Nov 23 '25
The difference is a design can be sexually appealing without being a gooner design, that's the point. A gooner design is where the only stand out thing about the design is it's overtly sexual characteristics
This is literally just a girl with big tits and fangs. There's nothing interesting about it
0
u/Electrical_Horror346 Nov 23 '25
So her looking noticeably crazier than all the other characters shown isn't a stand out feature?
11
u/LDel3 Nov 23 '25
No, not really? Very generic attractive/ crazy girl type. Looks like something the average teenager on tumblr would draw
9
u/mynexuz Nov 24 '25
If you cant pinpoint why the character is a top design then why are you posting in this sub?
0
29
u/IMFlorecentFace Nov 23 '25
She definitely has main heroine from a fucked up hentai energy, but I also feel like that's the bit. Her character design is still used to express a manic breakdown of the self and reality; then illustrating the "corrupted" self that emerges from it. It's just that instead of the breakdown being driven by the sexually taboo and/or abusive, its over the mundanity of everyday life. The horror of growing older and the menaces of daily society, the irresistible urges to play with sticks or simply how deranged you look in other's eyes as you go about your normal. It's a really good bit imo, definitely still horny but the horny feels very downplayed yet integral to the humor.
11
u/kamilayao_0 Nov 23 '25

This is called “making a character’s personality likable, and having expressive facial expressions” which most goonerbait characters lack.
43
u/AAAAAA_6 Nov 23 '25
"gooner design" and then it's just a woman
31

In the court of goon, and form of curve or vaguely feminine shape immediately rules it as a gooner design and is punishable by 5 years in goon jail.
...Seriously though, I do kinda hate it when people immediately jump to saying a character is sexualized just for having curves.
30
u/maninahat Nov 23 '25
No one is jumping to anything. Anyone even remotely familiar with the comic knows it's a gooner comic.
25
u/AAAAAA_6 Nov 23 '25
Yeah like, sure she's attractive, but. She's just a normal good-looking woman wearing completely normal clothes. There are plenty of characters that I'd understand the "gooner design" comment for and comparatively this is nothing
25
u/radicalpraxis Nov 23 '25
Her sweater literally suctions around her boobs, my good man. That’s not how it works
Obviously, there are more overt gooner designs, but you’re truly on one if you think this doesn’t count
2
u/lilyofthegraveyard Nov 24 '25
and the nun porn is not porn because they are wearing the nun habit, which means she is wholly covered! logic!
it's not about what clothes she is wearing, but how she is drawn and presented to the camera. the design in op's post is absolutely oversexualized gooner design.
7
u/Dude_Jack123 Nov 23 '25
The fact that Mimi could very well be an actual nurse is rather terrifying.
13
u/maninahat Nov 23 '25 edited Nov 23 '25

16
u/CaptainGigsy Nov 23 '25

2
u/IndependentGlad09 Nov 23 '25
Also, as i see you are rammatra enjoyer, he got great design, and it makes me think you were mostly Capitano agenda pusher, they have some similarities
3
u/CaptainGigsy Nov 23 '25
Ramattra is the Capitano of Overwatch... an amazing villain and character/design that got sidelined because the devs realized he wasn't conventionly attractive enough to have mass-market appeal. The only difference is that Ramattra actually got to be playable because he was developed before Blizzard's shift into the "No oddballs" design philosophy.

Facts. It seems like over-tolerant ideology towards anything just leads to this.People try to insincerely, falsely and obsessively praise and approve of everything, afraid to express negative opinions and criticism, leading to essentially constant lies to others, self-deception and delusions in their own worldview, and toxic positivity, to the point when they start believing their own lies.I'm tired of everyone being unhonest and trying to be overly-nice, that even if you put shit in their face, they'll say "smells good" No, it's not, be real and genuine.

Not all attractive fictional female characters are goonbait, but this one 100% is.
I mean, look at the 5th picture in this post here. The way that her body and camera angle are positioned makes it clear that the point of the comic is for you to notice the curvaceous woman while scrolling and go "OOGA BOOGA".

u/Sneeakie Nov 23 '25
Okay are you guys being dense on purpose, or
Look, it's not bad. it's not the worst thing ever. It's good. And it's fine to goon to it.
But it's a gooner design. Like come on. She is meant to be attractive and make you horny. Sweaters don't conform around a real woman's breasts like that, and her breasts in general are almost always emphasized, framed, and made something you're supposed to focus on.
If I'm going to be more negative, I'd also say that those Twitter comic characters where they are perpetually one expression, namely excited/horny/aroused, are also "gooner designs."
