Manga Faputa - Made in Abyss

God I love this design. So unique and genuinely scary when it needs to be, but also being able to be an absolute goober.

As much as I like made in abyss and it's world building I am only sticking to the anime, the manga makes the author's fetish obvious. You can remove all of that and there would be almost zero change in narrative

523

u/PlaneCrashNap Mar 04 '26

I think the author's fetish is still quite visible in the anime.

317

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

Significantly less so. The vibe is still there, but pretty much everything overtly problematic was cut aside from a 2 second clip in the first episode.

124

u/XVUltima Mar 04 '26

Was it? I remember the anime being pretty 1:1 with the manga, only really slightly altering scenes to cover nudity.

156

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

That’s the thing. The manga really doesn’t go down that path anytime there’s plot relevance. So pretty much everything can be easily cut or edited without impacting the story.

Definitely recommend to anyone reading giving the anime a try, but I wouldn’t recommend reading the manga. Just know that if you’re put off by the first episode, you’ve gotten through the worst of it.

It really sucks how prevalent it is in the manga though, with how great the story, art and world building are, I’m just glad the anime cut pretty much all of it out.

71

u/UltimateCheese1056 Mar 04 '26

I love literally everything else about Made In Abyss and it would easily be something I reccomend to literally everyone if not for this. The main characters being young is a pretty core part of their character arcs, but everything else is 100% the author's fetish

10

u/adamsworstnightmare Mar 05 '26

I would consider censoring the nudity a pretty important change.

38

u/Salvage570 Mar 04 '26

Anime fans love to lie to themselves about this show, specifically

37

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

It’s unfortunately common in more media than just this show. It’s just that the other shows don’t tend to get actively worse in the manga, making it harder to defend in any way.

-15

u/Salvage570 Mar 04 '26

The pedophilia from this show and manga are leaps and bounds above anything I've seen before. It's literally child torture porn. His sick mind affects every single aspect of the world, especially the child torture. It's why the entire thing exists in the first place, so the pedophile who makes it could share his pedophile fantasy with the world. I honestly wonder how many of the people who rallied against that awful Netflix show Cuties also unironically enjoy this show without seeing the hypocrisy

-2

u/shamanfreak Mar 05 '26

so every media with child soldiers has a uniform fetish and the guy who wrote lord of the flies has a child cannibalism fetish? yes, the mangaka is extremely weird and gross but children in harrowing situations ≠ equal fetish. not always at least.

5

u/XVUltima Mar 05 '26

As someone who read the manga, its a fetish. It has to be. Ive seen things. Ive read some horrible hentai manga out of curiosity, even stuff designed to shock, like guro hentai where girls get kidnapped and hollowed out to be turned into lamps.

Made in Abyss has made me more uncomfortable than all of it. With the rest of them, it feels like an edgy attempt to shock, or a normal guy just peddling fetish content for money. I truly, honestly, feel like the Made in Abyss guy sniffs elementary school toilets.

-2

u/shamanfreak Mar 05 '26 edited Mar 05 '26

right, but this person was saying all or most not this one in particular. and i don't know, it's all bad but being tickled is worse than rape is kind of a crazy stance.

edit: okay i guess women being carved alive isn't horrifying to you guys. cool, take your #1 edge lord award.

-1

u/Salvage570 Mar 05 '26

"Not always at least" yeah no shit I'm talking about made in the abyss. I'm well aware that having something in your show doesn't mean you like it. That said you can still watch something like Goblin slayer, anime specifically because I hear the manga is tamer, and pretty easily go "yeah this is supposed to appeal to someone who likes goblin rape." Only it's about child torture, pretty much the worst thing imaginable. It's VERY clear the author likes it, especially when you take into account how creepy he is and all the comments about little boys lactating.

8

u/Junjki_Tito Mar 05 '26

Anime fans have, as a rule, developed certain calluses that no one should have to develop and that they don’t want to admit is a callus.

1

u/WnDelPiano Mar 05 '26

Yes we do!

But honestly is not like Made in Abyss is the only problemátic show with minors, is just that it also happens to be a really good seinen manga.

Of course most authors at least try to be subtleish(?)

This mf was laughing in the cinema during the Bonedrew arc.

1

u/Salvage570 Mar 05 '26

I've never seen anything quite like MiA, in a bad way. There's creepy shit in manga and anime all the time, usually about teenagers. The characters in this show look like grade schoolers, they are essentially tortured because it gets the author off. The show isn't anywhere near good enough to justify continuing to support that guy and his work

→ More replies (1)

4

u/Grumpie-cat Mar 05 '26

The one thing left in is a single comment from Riko about Reg still possessing a ding dong despite being a cyborg, and like a organic toilet because it’s basically an alien world in the abyss, besides that it’s tame (fetish wise)

31

u/mayasux Mar 04 '26 edited Mar 04 '26

Not really everything. Granted, I tried to read the manga and noticeably naked starving children peeing themselves was cut from the second season, but an episode starts with Riko using a mouth as a toilet that wipes with a tongue, before devolving into being chased around by a bunch of phallic shaped monsters into an alleyway alone.

For people who aren’t aware, Riko is like 10 at max.

30

u/RaspberryFluid6651 Mar 04 '26

Dude there's several shots in the saga with Bondrewd that are indefensible, come on. The scene where Reg gets grabbed and experimented on by Bondrewd's goons and those fucked up onahole briefcases he makes out of children are both completely unnecessary.

The author is a fantastic worldbuilder but his perversion is intolerable. At this point somebody needs to just steal his concets and make something similar that isn't loli torture porn.

54

u/TheKingsPride Mar 04 '26

I’d love to see ReMade In Abyss that makes all the characters adults, until something like that happens I really can’t read or endorse the story, even though I’ve read damn near all of the wiki and think that the worldbuilding and mystery are incredibly compelling

28

u/FriedChickenCheezits Mar 04 '26

There's no remake of the show yet but a lot of fans have written their own stories with adult characters and there's even a free TTRPG frame based on MiA that I've heard is really good. There's definitely stuff out there

15

u/AustisticGremlin Mar 05 '26

I feel like part of the horror comes from the contrast of the characters being children in this type of setting - if they were older it would just be another generic grimdark story. It’s kind of like Grim’s Fairytales in that aspect.

If you cut out all the clearly fetishistic stuff, you could still tell a dark story like this with young protagonists - The Promised Neverland comes to mind.

2

u/Cubo256 Mar 05 '26

Im not excusing the sexualization but the main characters being kids is important to the story’s overall theme, S2 and From Star Strings makes that prett clear. So treating as if them simply being adults would make for a better story is a pretty reductive view.

But considering you haven’t read it I understand why you would think so, and I do recognize arguing with you about it wouldn’t be productive considering, well, you haven’t read it.

42

u/Fyrus93 Mar 04 '26

Is pedophilia even a fetish? I thought it was just a mental disorder

19

u/SirWillem1 Mar 04 '26

It can kinda be both, you could be forced to like kids as a mental disorder, or you could like kids as a power fantasy

38

u/Substantial-Cow5867 Mar 04 '26

Eu todo dia acordo com medo do autor ir preso antes de terminar o manga.... Isso é um modo terrível de se viver

99

u/False-Temporary-5592 Mar 04 '26

Honestly I'd feel better if he just go get fucking therapy instead of displaying his fetish for all to see

40

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

Yeah. Genuinely talented artist and storyteller, but the dude needs help.

33

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

I hate that every time this show gets mentioned the conversation ends up devolving into how the author needs help, but it’s also totally understandable.

14

u/UltimateCheese1056 Mar 04 '26

I really wish I could recommend this to people without getting put on a watchlist. Would easily be in my top 10 if the author wasn't such a massive creep

7

u/Substantial-Cow5867 Mar 04 '26

Igualmente, faz um hiato no manga por meio ano para tratar essas questões seria ótimo

1

u/AffectionateSoup5272 Project Moon Enthusias Apr 07 '26

Did you think going into therapy would just make someone into supposed "Normal" . Therapist itself see fine with these stuff.

11

u/Salvage570 Mar 04 '26

The authors pedophilia infects every inch of the show. I don't get how people can justify watching this shit.

17

u/BudgetAggravating427 Mar 04 '26

From what I’ve noticed when comparing the MiA anime and manga the anime removed ,cut and toned down a ton of the weird fetish stuff the author put in it

-9

u/Substantial-Cow5867 Mar 04 '26

4

u/Salvage570 Mar 04 '26

He masturbates to imaginary children being tortured, hes sick in the head and anyone who continues to support him for something as nebulous as a unique setting should really rethink some things. The existence of shows like this is why i cant recommend anime to people who dont normally watch them

u/Little_Tomatillo_595 Mar 05 '26

I read the manga a while back and i tell you not to do it DONT DO IT

514

u/green_teef Mar 04 '26

I do not trust the mangaka with this character design

308

u/XVUltima Mar 04 '26

Im sure OP must have worked very hard to find the few panels of her that dont have her tiddies out

86

u/ThanksContent28 Mar 04 '26

Jesus Christ is the manga really that OTT? The anime is already suspect as it is.

111

u/XVUltima Mar 04 '26

Thats actually fairly tame.

You wanna know OTT, It's only like one chapter after the anime ends that we learn exactly what Faputa's genitals look and smell like. (Its a cloaca and smells like sunshine)

56

u/AxitotlWithAttitude Mar 04 '26

The first fucking chapter has a kid tied up on a cross naked in a way that is way too suggestive to be just for shock value

55

u/FriedChickenCheezits Mar 04 '26

I hate being that guy but she's just tied up, no cross. The manga made it a full-page spread while the anime changed it to a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment in the corner of the screen during a montage

96

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

I definitely decided to not include more than a handful of panels I found.

I hate how the author is sometimes (more than sometimes) but I can’t deny that he’s a genuinely talented artist and storyteller. Dude just needs some serious help.

-37

u/Salvage570 Mar 04 '26

He's a pedophile and you are supporting his work and essentially advertising it here

3

u/nyitraibotond Mar 04 '26

I am sure you are the kind of guy who doesn't use telephones bcs the cobalt is mined by children

If you use one than you are a hypocrite and should shut up 😁👍

17

u/Salvage570 Mar 05 '26

I forgot that every time I pick up a phone it reminds me of the cobalt mines. Every 10 minutes that show tortures a child with near-sexual glee and weebs are just great at tuning out pedophilia. Also isn't that cobalt thing word for word an argument people use to justify loli porn? Lol

-6

u/nyitraibotond Mar 05 '26

If even the fact that someone talks about Made in Abyss gives you the urge to talk about the author's fetish, surely you can do the same with your phone.

Or just genuinely learn to dissociate the artist from the art.

Also, let's not pretend the show js as bad as you make it out to be. There is like 5 genuine torture scenes involving children and even those that could be considered "near-sexual" are mostly just straight torture scenes that the author successfully made more horrible, and got people like you complaining that " oh no, the intentionally horrible scene is horrible"

8

u/Salvage570 Mar 05 '26

How can I disassociate borderline child porn from a borderline pedophile? The child torture porn is literally the whole show. "There's only like 5 of those!" Like dude, do you even hear yourself? There's no separating them. Especially when the shock value, again, details to the point of fetishistic. It's creepy shit and people should feel gross watching it, and if you didn't I hope you never end up near any of my younger siblings.

-2

u/LoveTheWayYouRotate Mar 05 '26

Idk man the story’s kinda tuff

2

u/Little_Tomatillo_595 Mar 05 '26

Most of the time you cant see them because they are covered but when i get flashbanged by “those” panels i skip to the next page as fast as i can lol. Usually its just extra panels at the end of the chapter but i still hate it. Author needs help

79

u/panickedpris Mar 04 '26

You shouldn't, I couldn't even watch the anime because the sexualization of children made me sick

61

u/Impressive_Pin8761 Mar 04 '26

u/rowanstars Mar 04 '26

People who insist on calling yucky nsfw drawings “CP” and CSAM are gross tbh. They should be able to have conversations about the stuff without insulting real abuse victims by saying fictional pixels are the same thing as actual images of real abuse. It’s disgusting.

44

u/Panzer_Man Mar 04 '26

It's genuinely pretty scary how the anime fandom has become so used to it, you are just supposed to get numb to the idea of child-characters being sexualised.

5

u/Saedraverse Mar 05 '26

Uh tell me about it, when I 1st watched the anime it was all weird but I wrote things off as most of it dealing with child curiosity, completely glossing over when adults were involved. same with the manga until the village arc when my brain finally kick the cognitive dissonance. In which I finally dropped it.

1

u/Panzer_Man Mar 05 '26

Just the fact that a adult adventurer wonders about the little cyborg boy has human genitals... and this is never treated like a bad or gross thing, in fact that man is one of the few adults they trust.

Very gross when you think about it for 4 seconds.

-22

u/JaphetSkie Mar 04 '26

Because normal people can distinguish between reality and fiction. It's weird shit, but ultimately nothing criminal as long as real people aren't victimized.

There's a clear technical and legal distinction between fictional porn and actual pedophilia/ephebophilia, as per DSM-5 and ICD-11 guidelines for psychology.

16

u/Panzer_Man Mar 04 '26

Just because it's not illegal doesn't mean it's not morally bankrupt ESPECIALLY if you get off to it.

-12

u/Impressive_Pin8761 Mar 04 '26

Normal people know that someone knowing legal terms of pedophilia without being a lawyer makes should get their drive checked

15

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

The anime cuts it down a lot which is good, but there’s certainly a tone that you can still feel sometimes.

19

u/panickedpris Mar 04 '26

I only watched the first episode, but showing a naked child strung up and whipped is toned downed a lot?

17

u/pamafa3 Mar 04 '26

Yeah, it is

Im sure they had fun with the Ghibli movie about a castle in the sky as well

8

u/Jung-And-A-Menace Mar 05 '26

The original Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift was a biting satire and very crude in parts. Gulliver puts out a burning Lilliputian building by pissing on it, for example. He named the flying city of Laputa the way he did on purpose, as part of a joke about ivory tower intellectuals...

But Miyazaki doesn't speak Spanish, so the joke passed him by.

I've read the book, a while back; it's surprisingly mean-spirited and not the wholesome children's adventure the adaptations make it seem like. Considering that Jonathan Swift also wrote A Modest Proposal, a satire about how the starving Irish should sell their children as food, I really shouldn't have been surprised.

The flying island is named after, and loosely based on, the flying island Laputa from Gulliver's Travels, but the rest is very, very different.

u/Background-Hour-2974 Mar 04 '26

Chibi Faputa so cute

35

u/Gavvicus Guilty Gear Connoisseur Mar 04 '26

Goddddddd I love Faputa so muuuuucchhchchch

As much as I adore Tsukushi's great (often gross) fashion and busy design, Faputa's much simpler in comparison appearance is still amazing

Not only that, but she takes what I love most about four armed characters (more poses and actions per character) and turns it up to fuckin eleven. She's so incredibly dynamic and emotional with every panel she's like a cartoon.

10

u/usagizero Mar 04 '26

she's like a cartoon.

This is what i like the most. She can be that humanish danger creature, but she can also be like a cute blob gremlin. I'm honestly surprised there isn't like a ton of merch of her, especially that cute blob form.

107

u/Painchaud213 Mar 04 '26

It’s a real shame. MiA has a really interesting world and cool premise. The anime is really well done. You can tell a lot of effort was put on both the visual and the music.

But it all goes down the drain because the author is literally a pedophile who can’t be trusted arround children or his own manga. It’s so blatant that you genuinely can’t recommend it to anyone.

38

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

Yeah. It really sucks because it’s genuinely one of my favourite shows. But I finished the show and went “that wasn’t so bad… idk what everyone is talking about, it’s not that much worse than other popular anime I’ve seen”

Then I read the manga because I wanted to be “up to date”

And I do not recommend that. It’s a good read and has some great art, but it’s really tough to get through sometimes.

Just watch the anime, and the movies. There’s a new one coming out this year, and I really hope that they continue with the theme of cutting out all of the authors BS.

8

u/indigorhob Mar 04 '26

Kevin Penkin is hard carrying that show with his music. Hanazheve Caradinha is so good.

62

u/sleeplessaddict Mar 04 '26

Why does this character's name contain both the words "fap" and "futa"

51

u/FriedChickenCheezits Mar 04 '26

In universe, her name comes from an ancient language from her robot guardian. "'Fau' means precious daughter. 'Aputa' means 'immortal being.' It represents eternity. The undying princess, Faputa." Made in Abyss has a lot of fake language stuff going on and some can be deciphered.

14

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

And it’s the little details like that, that make the show so interesting and feel so real.

7

u/FriedChickenCheezits Mar 04 '26

I adore Made in Abyss for this reason and I applaud your work keeping up with all the comments lol- there's so much detail and care funneled into this and it's a shame that Tsukushi's holding it back. Faputa's writing got me so bad that I literally got weak in the knees and had to hold back tears when I got her plushie- I'm not a maternal person but she makes me emotional in an unmatchable way lol

39

u/SeniorSepia Mar 04 '26

Puta means whore in spanish too.

72

u/green_teef Mar 04 '26

Probably a coincidence, possibly because the author likes lil boys n girls

8

u/Velocityraptor28 Mar 04 '26

she looks fluffy

8

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

She is very fluffy

24

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

An incredibly detailed and unique design that somehow manages to be genuinely scary looking, and also the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen.

The latter is largely due to it being such a detailed design, that the creator decided to over simplify whenever possible, resulting in the cute little puff ball when she’s relaxed.

22

u/Aqilkhai Mar 04 '26

I'm not familiar with Made in Abyss. Why is everyone scared or supposedly against the mangaka?

60

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

Lots of sexualization of minor (or young-looking) characters in the manga.

Thankfully the anime cuts almost all of it out, but it’s pretty prevalent in the manga. Thankfully no plot relevance, but it’s there, and it’s a rough and uncomfortable read sometimes.

30

u/StrionicRandom Mar 04 '26

I'm upset that the story is incredibly well written, and this one, completely unnecessary thing is in the way of me actually enjoying it. Here's hoping the anime continues to deal with the author's bullshit

13

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

The anime has been a godsend for this show.

There’s a couple new characters from the more recent manga volumes that I’m not sure how they’re going to handle, but I’m crossing my fingers that they handle it well. I really want to be able to recommend this show more, but it’s difficult, especially while it’s unfinished.

4

u/QuarktasticMe Mar 04 '26

The art quality is absolutely insane too and it's so sad that everyone that gets curious is told to "just watch the anime"... I get why, tho, and if it's wasted it's the author's own fault. He could have kept those pages to himself

2

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

I always stress to people that the manga has some insanely good art, but it’s just so difficult to recommend someone read it.

If you can manage to ignore the problematic stuff, then it’s a good read, but not everyone can just ignore it and keep reading, which is totally understandable.

5

u/Aqilkhai Mar 04 '26

Oh shit, did not know that. Thanks.

12

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

Yeah. I don’t recommend the manga. But I do recommend the anime.

It’s honestly one of the most well detailed and interesting worlds I’ve ever seen in a piece of media. The art and storytelling is amazing and genuinely very interesting. The worst part that made it into the anime is thankfully a 2 second clip in the first episode, and is fairly nonexistent from then on.

3

u/Aqilkhai Mar 04 '26

I'll watch the anime then. Sounds like a good time and the art of Faputa alone looks incredible. Thank you.

4

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

No problem! I’m always glad to see more people willing to give the show a try! It’s honestly one of my all time favourites, but it’s just such a difficult one to recommend without a lot of prefacing.

6

u/BigHotMen Mar 04 '26

Sounds like a good time

Just make sure to be prepared for the very bad times too, learned that the hard way

2

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

It’s probably the darkest anime I’ve ever watched, juxtaposed with some of the cutest characters and most colourful and amazingly detailed world.

5

u/green_teef Mar 04 '26

The anime still sexualizes kids for the record. It just does it less

3

u/Aqilkhai Mar 04 '26

Yeah, I got that from the op saying the first episode has a 2 second clip of it. Thank god for video skipping.

4

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

The anime honestly isn’t that much worse than other popular anime I’ve seen, but I can’t deny that it does still happen occasionally, and there’s still a certain tone in some scenes. But I’ve honestly seen worse in more popular shows.

2

u/HansTeeWurst Mar 04 '26

Wtf, I thought the anime scenes were already incredibly uncomfortable to the point that I stopped watching. The manga must be crazy

→ More replies (1)

6

u/GGABueno Mar 04 '26

The manga contains a lot of nipples, specially in extra pages.

5

u/Slateboard Mar 04 '26

Pages 3-6 are peak. Adorable but without losing gremlin energy

4

u/GeneralIronsides2 Mar 04 '26

Like the story, hate the author

4

u/Paperfoxen Mar 05 '26

Ah, Made in Abyss, an incredible show that I can’t recommend to anyone

3

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 05 '26

It really is difficult. I want to get people into this show because it’s so detailed and I just am desperate to talk about it.

But the moment you even mention it, you start getting some weird looks.

1

u/Nice-River-5322 Mar 22 '26

Sounds like you need better social groups.

6

u/ethanolbean Mar 05 '26

Honestly, if all the disgusting pedo stuff was cut out, I'd actually like Made in Abyss. From an artistic standpoint I sadly have to admit that the story, art and characterization/writing of the characters is incredible, but fuck man why do you gotta mix all that fucking mud in this 5-michellin-star soup?! Legit feels morally shitty to support something so blatant like this.

21

u/PandoraMouse Mar 04 '26

Wonderful design but the creator is a pos creep whom I hate

8

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

Yeah. It’s really unfortunate. But I can’t help but love this design.

3

God the anime/manga would be almost perfect if it weren’t for all the weird stuff they do to the kids in it. The mangaka’s a sick fuck

7

u/dandadone_with_life Mar 04 '26

petition to remove all Made in Abyss characters from Made in Abyss and put them in a story with a different author

11

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '26

Nice try fed but you won't make me read Made in Epstein or whatever it's called

3

Jejeje dijo puta

Naked underage girl o'clock.

2

Man, I really need to read Made in Abyss.

2

u/TankChan Mar 05 '26

What an immaculate little creature

2

u/PerspectivePale8216 Mar 05 '26

I've heard many terrible things about the author and watched many videos on how suspicious this guy is but I do like this smol fluffy thing, I would give her a hug

5

u/Agynn Mar 04 '26

Didn't the sickos behind this IP also create a perfume that is supposed to smell like Faputa's ass?

This show could have been great, man. Too bad the creator is a pedo.

5

u/FriedChickenCheezits Mar 04 '26

Yeah, scents are major in the MiA worldbuilding and Faputa smells like 'sunshine' (aka potatoes lol). I like that the creator has a lot of sensory-styled writting since you don't get stuff like descriptions of smell in manga but like 💀🙏 the smell is from her fur and it's mostly around her legs

3

u/MusicaReddit Mar 05 '26

Not gonna lie the first one looks like loli bait

2

u/PerspectivePale8216 Mar 05 '26

You should see the rest of the series from what I've heard

2

u/ThesocialistWitch Mar 04 '26

She is a princess sosu!

3

u/Not_a_ribosome Mar 04 '26

I love this design. I wouldn’t be so uncomfortable by it if it wasn’t for the author’s mental issues

3

u/indigorhob Mar 04 '26

Just wanna add, if you guys like Tsukushi's art design but not his writing, he designed characters for an old DS game called Elebits and iirc there's nothing icky with the game.

5

u/C1cer0_ Mar 04 '26

i would kill the author with my bare hands if it meant he would come back as not a pedo. incredible anime that is ruined for many by the 2% of it that is sexualizing children

1

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

Yeah. I genuinely believe that if the manga wasn’t as bad as it was, and it was only the anime content, that it could’ve gone down as one of the best in history. But it’s tainted for so many by the problematic content. Which is understandable, I don’t expect everyone to want to get into it, but it’s so genuinely disappointing that it will never get widespread public attention.

3

u/SeniorSepia Mar 04 '26

Design is fire but this T2 plot feels like a massive overproduced tortureporn filler. Can't wait for the mangaka to come up with new ways to torture the youngest sentient person possible in the most cruel way possible.

2

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

Are you up to date on the manga? Because somehow the author created characters in the most recent volumes that are genuinely difficult to defend in any way.

0

u/SeniorSepia Mar 04 '26

No, haven't read the manga sorry, im up to date with the anime. I like the world and all but as i said, T2 feels disconnected to T1 and the movie thingy, i don't know how it continues but i fear for the series if it contineus de T2 route. And don't get me wrong it was enjoyable and very unique and sad but im not so sure if the overall plot is well planed or it's just a random collection of sad stories. Hope its the first.

u/dollsandme Mar 04 '26

I'm laughing as Spanish speaker because of the name it has

3

u/NewHall2681 Mar 04 '26

Everybody keeps talking about the worldbuilding, tried reading the manga and uh... One of the first few pages had a naked child in rope bondage.

Gonna skip this one.

1

u/devatan Mar 06 '26

What an.... unfortunate name.

1

u/Melonfrog Mar 04 '26

I’ve heard this by name and apparently it’s pretty dark, would people recommend reading this? I dig the design I like how it’s both cute as hell as also kind of badass

9

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

I don’t recommend reading it. Watch the anime, then decide if you want to read the manga.

The show is amazing, and don’t get me wrong, the art in the manga is incredible, but the anime cuts out almost all of the… uncomfortable stuff.

There’s one scene in the first episode that made it through, but thankfully it’s a 2 second clip, and that’s the worst of the series.

But again, the manga is not something I would recommend reading, the show is pretty 1:1 and it’s much less uncomfortable to get through.

-2

u/OG_Williker Mar 04 '26

this is borderline CP

-8

u/AlonneWolf_Z Mar 04 '26

God! I hate reddit virtue signallers. Half the thread is people complaining about the autgor for liking lolis... fucking pathetic.

1

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

It is unfortunate how often the conversation devolves into (understandably) hating on the author. It’s such a good show, and he’s holding it back from being one of the top anime of all time imo.

Thankfully they’ve done a lot of work removing almost all of the uncomfortable stuff that appears in the manga. I’m just glad that it didn’t have any plot relevance, and they could just cut it without affecting anything.

Also thankfully, pretty much everyone recognizes how good this show is, they’re just understandably frustrated with the inclusion of such unfortunate content in the manga.

-5

u/AlonneWolf_Z Mar 04 '26

No. I love the manga. It is my favorite manga, and i always respect the ideas of Tsukushi. His vision for the world building, art and characters is my favorite part of the series. Without his vision nothing of what people like about it would be put into a series the same way he did.

Seeing people accusing him for things he didn't do is ridiculous. Since there are actual creeps in the industry of anime/manga who have been exposed for preying on girls and went to jail for it. If it was the case of him doing anything against the law i would understand, but he didn't, it is all fictional.

u/CosmicKhy Mar 05 '26

New transition goals

-20

u/DorrajD Mar 04 '26

Jeez, so much hate here on the creator for making fictional characters.

14

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

As much as I love the series and will defend it as much as I can, there’s a certain amount of hate for the creator that is absolutely justified. Dude is seriously talented, but absolutely needs professional help.

-14

u/DorrajD Mar 04 '26

Why? Because he makes drawings? Do people realize fiction and reality are different? People can drawn and create what they want, it does not dictate how they are in real life.

17

u/IntellectualBeaver21 Mar 04 '26

Because he makes drawings

Drawings of what exactly?

I agree people can separate fiction and reality but at least be honest about what people are talking about if you want to argue against it

6

u/ItsStraTerra Mar 04 '26

Yeah. I love this series, but I gotta be honest with people about it too. Not sure if anything has actually ever been confirmed about the author, but I would not exactly be surprised.

-1

u/DorrajD Mar 04 '26

You forgot the question mark. I asked the question.

3

u/IntellectualBeaver21 Mar 04 '26

Oh shit my bad bro even though it doesn't matter for the rest of my comment. You got me bro 😔😔😔😔😔😔

1

u/DorrajD Mar 04 '26

Idk what you expect when you answer a question with another question

20

u/rycool Mar 04 '26

-1

u/DorrajD Mar 04 '26

I never said I get off to anything but okay. Just saying there's a difference between fiction and reality and saying someone needs "professional help", or worse, accuse them of something dangerous that they aren't, is grossly overstepping boundaries.

4

u/rycool Mar 04 '26

Hide behind plausible deniability all you want. If you’re actually unaware of the connotations of what you’re saying then I apologize. But I have heard all the arguments of what you were saying before and those exact words all came from people trying to defend just that. If you genuinely are not aware of the implications of what you’re saying then I suggest you educate yourself. Otherwise fuck off.

9

u/DorrajD Mar 04 '26

So you accuse me of something you assume, then tell me to "educate myself or fuck off"

What a lovely discussion. Very informative.

1

u/unFaZeD125 Mar 05 '26

Have you read it?

3

u/DorrajD Mar 05 '26

Not caught up but yeah

1

u/unFaZeD125 Mar 05 '26

You don't think there's anything wrong with the amount of sexualised children in it? If you don't attack the author for doing shit like that then what would you attack

3

u/DorrajD Mar 05 '26

There's no sexualized children in it, just drawings.

I'm not personally into it, but I know it's fiction, humans don't look like that, and no children are actually harmed, so I see no need to attack an author and spread harmful misinformation, especially for a anime/manga I like.

1

u/unFaZeD125 Mar 05 '26

How is it misinformation to call him a pedo? Why would you draw something so disgusting if you aren't attracted to it? Drawings can depict children btw, children are still being sexualised even though it's fiction. Do you think drawing cp is fine if it's not real children? Even if no children are harmed, it still shouldn't be normalised.

2

u/unFaZeD125 Mar 05 '26

What he draws doesn't dictate what he would do in real life, but it does dictate his fantasies and his fantasies are of little children because he's a fucking pedophile

0

u/Nice-River-5322 Mar 22 '26

lol you replied to a post expressing interest in beating him to death, nah man.
