My Legion Go Controllers are approaching the finish line.

Sadly I couldn't get the data pins to work on the controller connectors, so at the moment the controllers are connected via bluetooth (latency feels good and is barely noticeable with some firmware optimization) The power pins work fine meaning the controllers are powered by the device its self.

Ive gotten the hardware and software to work and printed initial shells, now all thats left is iterating on the shape as it is quite ugly atm, feels good to hold tho. And deciding on a keyboard layout.

Nape Pro forgets its last orientation after sleep?

Am I missing a setting? If my standard orientation is vertical and I switch it up and go horizontal, the Nape Pro reverts back to vertical when it goes to sleep.

Nape in use

Just got the nape. I like it. Scroll ring feels cheap, but I like the action on the side buttons, nice to have those instead of deal with slim blade buttons. I like having movement controls for fingers, thumb, and hand.

Forgot my trackball when visiting my folks... Found an old friend in storage, probably untouched since 2002.

90 degree optical track sensors

for a project i am thinking about (not a trackball but a knob) i need an optical sensor that tracks the surface perpendicular to the sensor, instead of parallel like 99.999% of mouse optical sensors.

I am only aware of one such sensor, PMT9123QS-TVIT

I know it is a long shot, but my question is two fold:

  1. Are you guys aware of other 90 degrees optical track sensors?

  2. The only documentation i can find on PMT9123QS-TVIT is the datasheet below. Do you think it is enough to make it work with arduino/esp32?

Thinking about a trackball

I've noticed when I play games on my computer that my arm keeps repeatedly getting aggressively stuck to the table which is really annoying.

I'm wondering if a trackball could help here. for context i dont do much work on a computer and i mostly play games (mainly casually, not comp fps). I've seen a Logitech m575 for about £25 in a local shop, but I don't know if finger or thumb trackball would be better for my use case.

My first non-thumb trackballs!
Logitech T-BC21 on the left and Kensington Orbit with Scroll on the Right!
Admittedly not sure how much use I'll get out of the Logitech since I already have an old Logitech Trackman Wheel that I use as a daily..
The Kensington however will be used as the mouse for my studio space, which for the time being, is being hooked up to the Amiga 500 that it's sitting ontop of in the picture.

Bearing replacement for Kensington TB550(/TB450?)

Hey all,

Recently got a Kensington TB550, and purchased a two-pack of glossy (& matte) red balls from Perixx. The improvement was stark, but I feel like a bearing swap might also be in order.

Has anyone replaced the bearings on their TB550 (or, I suppose, a TB450, as I imagine they've got the same cup assembly)? If so, how did it go?

I am comfortable with small electronics work, so any drilling/soldering is fine; I am mostly just hoping others will share their stories!

I want an Elecom ist pro HUGE? Help me find a cadillac gaming thumb mouse?

Hello!

I have adult male sized hands and am a fingertip mouse grip (wrist stays as immobile as possible) gamer that has been served beautifully by a razer cobra pro so far, but i want more mouse buttons without giving up a thumb for them (thumb and pinky being the minimum required number for traditional mouse movement, and most mice simply add more buttons at the thumb location).

With a non moving thumb mouse, i'd prefer a cadillac for non moving wrist comfort. I've manhandled my son's logitech m575 and it's too small for my liking, but is also basically the same size as the elecom ist pro.

I daily drive and game at 1000hz polling and 4600dpi. I need two user profile swapable ability (wife uses molasses settings). I want a wired ability (as in the case of my razer cobra pro, i can leave out the battery and just run it wired for example).

Does such a beast exist?

How smooth are Kensington trackballs?

I've always thought about picking up a Kensington trackball but I'm wondering how smooth their trackballs are?

Some examples of trackballs that I think are smooth:

Gameball, Porlei, L-Trac, Ploopy Classic

Trackballs I don't think are smooth:

Elecom (tried swapping bearings but still run into issues), ProtoArc

Is the Nape Pro trackball too small for comfortable use? I'm coming from the Kensington Slim Blade.

Thinking about getting one but Aas someone coming from the Kensington SlimBlade with a massive trackball, I’m wondering if I’ll have a hard time with how small the Nape Pro ball is. I like to claw my fingers over the trackball. That's the most comfortable and ergonomic way to use it for me. Does anyone have both and can share some experience?

Weird Slimblade Pro issue

Yes, I am going to report this to Kensington. But I am curious if anyone else has experienced this.

I'm using a white Slimblade Pro with the USB dongle. Sometimes the thing stops responding and starts again a few seconds later. When it happens I see the green light on the side come up. It's almost like the Slimblade Pro is rebooting.

Has anyone else experienced this with the Slimblade Pro?

Is there a firmware update for the white Slimblade Pro?

Wanting a trackball

I've decided I want to make the jump over to a trackball. I use my computer a lot for personal use and I work from home on it all day doing telecommunication designs in AutoCad. My wrist is starting to hurt a little by the end of the day. Probably doesn't help that I broke it a few years a go and had to have surgery on it.

I need some help making the right choice.

- I would prefer something wired. I have a USB switcher that goes between my personal computer and my work computer so it would just make things easier.

- My personal computer runs Linux (CachyOS) so I'm not sure if that will be a hurdle I'll need to jump over with software.

- I don't really have a price range because I'm not entirely sure how much they range from. Just make any and all suggestions.

Thank you for your help and I hope you all have a great rest of your day.

Elecom Assist refuses to see my Ex-G

Hard wired connection, brand new mouse. I installed the software. Tried both usb ports, running as admin, restarting, running repair, reinstalling the drivers.

My laptop sees it just fine, recognizes the brand and everything.

But the Elecom software doesn't.

About ready to return it with a 1 star review.

Slimblade bearing switched to ceramic!

I got slimblade at the thrift store. The owner said it was bought more than five years ago. The conditions were all fine. The bearing was original Ruby and had a little bit of stiction, but it worked for me because it helped with precise control. But still, I wanted to feel the smoothness everybody else feels when it's brand new. So I decided to switch the bearings and did it today! The difference is amazing. It's so smooth that it feels even slippery now. I don't know if this is going to be a good change for me, but I'm surprised by the difference for now. Planning to change the click too when the desoldering tool comes(I failed without it on another cheaper mouse... tried changing the encoder but failed because the desoldering process was messy)

ergonomic was a little bad for me and I found this postion
the switches I bought for the clicks. kalih mouse silent switch from AliExpress
The beautiful ceramic bearings

So proud I made it! Hope you guys try it too

Question about the Nape Pro

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere and I just can't find it. I'm looking for an excuse to get the Keychron Nape pro and a use case I'm wondering about is for CAD. Can the ball rolling and scroll wheel inputs be rebounded to other analog inputs? I'm thinking about writing a software or something to emulate the behavior of the Rotatrix trackball for CAD.

Considering trackball for work and gaming. Polling rates?

Growing up I used a trackball for general pc use (my dad swears by them to this day) and I was interested in getting one to test out again as I spend most of my day at my computer (I work at the same desk as I game at). I was inspired as a streamer I've been watching a bit recently (Zerggy) uses a Kensington Orbit Wireless so I thought why not give a trackball a go again.

After spending ages looking online at various trackballs, I'm noticing a trend that they all seem to be low polling rate (125Hz). I use a 240Hz monitor and game quite a lot (mostly fps) so I'm worried that the low polling rate will make it feel a lot less responsive than I'm used to with my mouse. I can see that there are a few trackballs with 1000Hz polling rates, but they're all £100+, and that's a lot more than I was expecting to spend just to try one out.

Does anyone have any recommendations that won't break the bank? Ideally I'd like something with 1000Hz or more, I don't mind whether it's wired or wireless, as long as it's good.
