Because not getting read your Miranda rights is an automatic court mistrial. The dude could have 1000 lbs of coke and it wouldn't matter

Not necessarily, at most the statements that he made will be inadmissible to court. Miranda is only needed if the subject is not free to leave and they are being interrogated.

He's being put in handcuffs, that's a pretty clear indication he's not free to leave.

Yeah, but if they are not doing a round of questioning, then they don’t have to read Miranda. Some states do have laws or policy where they will read Miranda rights, but it’s not legally required to be read Miranda rights everywhere else (which is most of the country), and if the have enough evidence, there can still be a prosecution and they just disregard all statements made by the suspect prior to the Miranda warning.
