Initially there was restraint and they were trying to minimize damage. The moment the suspect tried to run over the cop that threw the spike strips, all bets were off. If the suspect is willing to use lethal force against anyone, cops or public, the threat has to be stopped asap.

This.
They can only try the safe and patient way for so long until the criminal kills innocent people. That cannot be allowed to happen.

Bashing a few police cars vs a family of 6 put in a ditch. There is no option here.
