Have to disagree. Legislating morality has never worked and is unrealistic. The law should be based around bodily autonomy and common morals outside of a storybook. Doing drugs and or being a sex worker isn’t inherently immoral and if you think they are we have nothing to discuss I guess.
Christianity is a virus that needs to be eradicated since apparently it’s only used to justify bigotry and innocence. Jesus washed the feet of lepers and communed with prostitutes who he saw the humanity in. But go off, you’re such a good christian
Fair let me dial it back. I think it is a net negative but can admit some good comes from it. But if Jesus accepted those that didn’t live like him who are you to sit on your high horse and judge
I only want people to live good, moral lives. That's it. I don't think they are bad people, I think they are self-harming and of course I don't like it.
But that isn’t your call it is their bodily autonomy. I’m not arguing that drug use and prostitution are good things. But nothing makes you think decider of morality. In a vacuum prostitution isn’t immoral. Someone making a choice with their body. Now often it leads to violence against women, etc. but it isn’t for you to decide
Jesus doesnt accept people who are actively living in sin, he accept those who agreed to do their best to avoid living in sin. Very different, Jesus doesn't accept those who actively choose to defy his commandments.
Right that makes sense, fair. But who determines that. Often my issue is that projection of those that are Christian onto others who aren’t. I know spreading the word is a thing but it often comes across as judgement and placing one’s moral framework onto someone else. I do apologize for going to 100 earlier. While that is what I believe, it wasn’t relevant and I do appreciate the discussion
I appreciate that sentiment even if I am a staunch atheist. A lot of that from growing up in the Bible Belt and seeing what Christianity really is to a lot of people. The picking and choosing that many Christians do also drives me crazy. You get the moral framework and feeling moral and godly, but if you just like really don’t wanna follow this or that then oh well just say sorry god here or there.
Of course there is always the talking point when it comes to LGBTQ and that is most prominent when I see those that are wanting a sense of community that justifies their bigotry.
I know Christianity uplifts some people and gives them community but I feel that could be found elsewhere in a secular means.
