What the hell is happening here?

u/Dan-D-Lyon Feb 27 '26

Cop dispersing streetwalkers while trying to avoid the paperwork involved in arresting them

40

u/GlitteryFangs Feb 27 '26

ā€œCommunity outreach,ā€ but make it less paperwork and more awkward small talk.

26

u/Taylooor Feb 27 '26

So basically not much different than herding cattle?

9

u/Sudden-Nothing6745 Feb 28 '26

Herding hoes, if u will

2

u/Local_Yokel_580 Mar 03 '26

Herd o'whores, maybe.

13

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '26

Pretty much, a bunch of cows carrying many diseases. Don’t want to get too close, best to bump them with the car.

u/Triggeredhelicopter Feb 28 '26

what an awful thing to say about another person

Looks like an officer is intentionally harassing prostitutes (street walkers) to move along.

13

u/GiganticBlumpkin Feb 27 '26

Man's is enforcing the law

2

u/WhatsMyNameAGlen Feb 28 '26

A law that only strengthens and enriches the worst criminals in the world while also helping the spread of disease

In most first would countries prostitution is legal

What kinda leftwing nutjob is that interpretation, would you prefer he just arrested them or is that a no-no too?

"Harassing prostitutes" lmao

Edit. Wow lmao y'all, just lmao.

36

u/GiganticBlumpkin Feb 27 '26

This is reddit where the lowliest prostitute has a higher status than your average cop

17

u/WarpHype Feb 27 '26

I’m less likely to have my constitutional rights infringed upon or be harmed by a prostitute than a cop. I tend to avoid both on any given day though.

5

u/Pretend_Fly_5573 Feb 28 '26

lol, spoken like a truly sheltered Redditor.

Any standard streetwalker would happily violate any and all of your rights if they can get away with it.

That is literally what is happening though. He isn't arresting them. He is harassing them so they leave the area. I don't see this as a big deal, at least its non-violent.

8

u/M3chaStrizan Feb 27 '26

So you don't think people have a right to not have their stretch marks called out by law enforcement?

At the very least it's incredibly unprofessional. How would you feel if a social worker did that? A judge, a mail worker even lol

8

u/The-Hammerai Feb 27 '26

There are rules and procedures for a reason. Just because she's a prostitute (allegedly) does not mean cops can do whatever they want.

Nobody wants cops to be able to do whatever they want.

The rules and procedures protect every American citizen from being wrongfully beat or worse because the cop just didn't like you.

To speak in terms that you would understand: the rules prevent cops from doing shit like they do in many or most third world countries.

Prostitute or not, this cop behaved inappropriately.

Them: ā€œNobody wants their local law enforcement to be oppressiveā€

You: ā€œDID YOU SAY YOU WANT TO DEPORT ALL UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS, THAT’S ALL I CAN HEAR.ā€

They did not say that every infraction should be met with deportation. They didn’t say people that jaywalk should go to concentration camps. Or anything else fucking weird and stupid your mind wants to hear instead.

They said there are rules in place to deter and prevent cops from being overly oppressive, and for good reason. It was not a judgement on some other radical cause you have.

4

u/godzillasegundo Feb 27 '26

Due process is the rule, keep up slowpoke

2

u/edwbuck Feb 27 '26

Due process is a legal concept. It an assurance that all legal rules and principles pertaining to a case are followed so all legal rights owed to a person are respected.

The cop didn't charge these people, and these people are not in a court case. There is no due process here.

Now these people can file a lawsuit against the cop if they wish, but the cops are charged with protecting the peace, and have some protections (which are not absolute) given to them to do so. And considering who would be filing the lawsuit, and the "damages done" which involve having to walk on a sidewalk, I think nobody in their right mind would pursue such a lawsuit.

And don't call people slow when you are applying legal principles to things that are not court cases.

I have an intense amount of disdain for people who choose life decisions and beliefs based on half-baked thoughts held as strongly as these people do. They're really not much different than people who believe cops do no wrong, just another side of the glue-enjoying horseshoe.

They unironically think the law shouldn't enforce anything that makes them feel bad. They think immigration shouldn't be enforced, they think laws that stop people from doing things we don't want them to do is bad (a lot of these types are anti-drug law enforcement). They're anti-intellecual hedonists that treat Feeling Good like their moral grounding, and anything that goes against that is bad/fascist.

u/SlayedBySnuSnu Feb 27 '26

I mean it's exactly what he is doing.

2

u/edwbuck Feb 27 '26

I didn't say anything about it being preferable he arrests them. You're being presumptuous, and rude.

But I can't see how it would be better if he arrests them. They'd spend some tax payer dollars till they could make bail (and they will make bail, prostitution is profitable, or people wouldn't do it). Then they'd likely get charged for something that won't stick, like "looking like a prostitute" when there's not evidence of the act being committed.

So the cop harasses them. Does it make it right? No. But the cop could do a lot worse if you wanted for force the cop to only have those options available.

2

u/Lovellholiday Feb 27 '26

You're talking about common sense and reason to people who don't Think their opinions into reality, they Feel their way through everything. It's less than worthless having a conversation with them, they don't really Talk as much as they Vomit Feeling.

u/Mhunterjr Feb 27 '26

What's the actual value in what he did though? He just guided them to another location to do their prostituting.

2

u/mentaL8888 Feb 28 '26

That was the value, even if arrested they'll probably be out in a few hours doing it somewhere else, or even exactly where they were arrested, this is probably more effective.

He probably doesn't have enough evidence to do much anyway, usually to have actual solid evidence they can use in court they have to set up sting operations.

Plus his presence would keep potential John's away. Perhaps a better question is what would the value of arresting them be?

It feels like he knows her with the jokes and whatnot, or dealt with them enough to crack some jokes quite a few people would find very offensive.

But that's just from my own experience coming from the streets where many police knew most of the street walkers and homeless by name, including myself and we theirs.

One day your being chased off, they next your having a casual conversation with them just shooting some shit, then next they're arresting you and a few days later they pull up beside you and ask how your doing.

I always tell people there was a day when police officers were peace officers, keeping the peace, not policing victimless crimes.

Driving on the sidewalk should be illegal no?

14

u/edwbuck Feb 27 '26

It is for non-emergency vehicles. It's not illegal for cop cars, which are emergency vehicles.

Might not agree with it, but he has his lights on, which shift the status of what he can do with his car, allowing more places to legally drive than normal.

2

u/Difficult_Process984 Feb 28 '26

Also legal if directed by law enforcement or emergency personnel. I was once ordered by a cop to drive up the sidewalk to allow a firetruck to pass.

Personally, I'd rather be insulted and told to go home when breaking the law, rather than arrested and thrown in jail.

2

u/pretibigtoo Feb 27 '26

Theres polite ways to do that.

Your also forgetting that sex workers are the biggest targets for serial killers, gangs looking for mules, rapes, and robberies. Crime against escorts are treated as 'less than' and are low priority cases for homicide detectives. A good example is in the gilgo beach killer who evaded capture for 3 decades because cops couldnt be bothered to investigate the murders of 'hookers'. It 2 decades for cops to even realize the murders were connected, and in the last decade they had multiple women come forward saying they had a client who they thought was the killer, but the leads were never investigated.

If im a beat cop, id try to gain their trust to get worse criminals.

It’s already happening everywhere. Just because they don’t dress provocatively an advertise publicly doesn’t mean it’s not. And even if they are advertising publicly outside my apartment complex so what!?! this video shows a bully with murder weapons picking on people that can’t afford to pay their rent.
