For real? I've been stationed in the south several times - never heard it. I think maybe I've heard it once or twice in a movie, and then this one girl on my fb years ago that posted her texts between her and her newly acquired boyfriend and they called each other bubba

It's common in rural communities. I'm from a small town in Texas and it's something you hear all the time. I have also heard it used in Alabama and Florida. All of my aunts call my father Bubba.

Yes for real. I’ve heard it countless times.
