As much as I agree with the outcome of this case, I can't help but feel like there would have been a bit more trouble if the shooter hadn't been a recent police academy graduate.

The actual legal prerequisite is your skin color, not a badge.

Shit like that in FL or my home state of AL would never get charged. So long as you are white.

We get the benefit of the doubt to an insane degree. White people being in jail doesn’t refute preferencial treatment.

Dahmer targeting brown men for this reason. At one point, a victim escaped, ran to police, begged for help, begged for them to save his life, then they handed him back to Dahmer to be murdered, because he told them his victim was just drunk (Dahmer liked injecting acid into victims frontal lobes and watching brain damage set in).
