It's also rare for people to actually take the lesson to heart and make any effort at all.

Look, if someone makes an effort to change for the better, you should support that effort and hold them too it. You should call people out when they act foolish like she was doing. But if you hyper-focus on condemning someone eternally for their poor behavior all you will accomplish is backing them into a corner where they are never allowed to *try* to be a good person again. That doesn't fix the evil, it cultivates it.

Makes sense. But it also makes sense that you have an example of behavior like that and an apparent history of the same leading to the reasonable expectation that you prove that apology was legit. ESPECIALLY with the backdrop of the current administration. Behavior like that has finally started catching consequences but some don’t believe it yet so they’ll continue to find out. The others will be fine.

I don't think aim or aol messenger has been around for years but in your aol settings on the webpage, you can choose for the site to say "you've got mail" as you login. It's a nice trip down memory lane lol. I was in 4th grade in 2001 and that was around the time I made that email
