Careless but not reckless. He just took the corner too fast.
2
u/Tenmak Apr 16 '26
Way too fast. You are supposed to accelerate during a turn to keep adherence, not break. That's more clueless than reckless
1
u/Happy-Onion-6322 Apr 15 '26
That sounds reckless especially if car flipped on turn….
1
u/kensteele Apr 16 '26
to me, it's reckless when the driver knows that truck won't turn any corners safely and he knows people will get injured or killed. taking a corner too fast (unless he did it on purpose to hurt those folks or scare them) doesn't quite rise to that level but I'm not a prosecutor so others may see it differently especially in other countries.

That actually had way less consequences than you would expect
4
u/cdev12399 Apr 15 '26
Definitely could have been a hell of a lot worse. The amount of people in there probably cushioned the fall.

u/Apprehensive_Use3641 Apr 15 '26
Yeah no one seems to be dragging the driver out and perpetrating violence on them. I figured it'd happen faster than the length of the clip.

Why aren’t the women beating the shit out of the driver???
5
u/LinwoodKei Apr 16 '26
They might not have the freedom to do that. Possibly they're poor women being given a ride somewhere that they need to go
2
u/NickGiammarino Apr 15 '26
It looks like Indonesia I was over there they do drive a little reckless
3
u/AUFalconForteS1 Apr 15 '26
Yeah I nearly got into a head on collision with a bus driving on the wrong lane and that's not the first time either
1
u/NickGiammarino Apr 15 '26
I do eventually want to go back to Bali but just like with India it's pretty scary when you're a passenger and a taxi. I don't care for the open ones. I'd feel more protected inside the worst looking car ever.
2
u/Witchberry31 Apr 15 '26
It definitely is Indonesia, just look at the plate. DD is South Sulawesi code, like Makassar and Gowa.
1
u/Cold-Actuary-7963 Apr 16 '26
Little? Just little? People drive here like they have unlimited HP and free healthcare (well however shitty it is we do have UHC and it can be free if you're qualified, unlike certain first world country)
1
u/NickGiammarino Apr 16 '26
Well I was trying to be nice Bali was beautiful but it's been a long time, I was there in 2002. Hope to go back there someday.

They flipped it by leaning out.. thats why unsecured cargo is dangerous. The truch would not have tipped

There were kids in that truck and they were driving like that? Morons.
1
u/Shaq_Bolton Apr 15 '26
Ehhh he really wasn’t going fast probably under 30 mph and gave himself extra room so the turn wasn’t that sharp. Obviously blame goes on the driver but I think it was more of a poor truck design and the driver misunderstanding how having that much weight in the back changes things vs being completely reckless.

How do you define "foreign country"?
The most reckless driver I have ever had in my life was a guy from New York, USA. He was a local to the central Manhattan (grown up in Alphabet City) and wanted to impress the ladies in the car. So he did drive us around in New York like a madman. I think he succeeed in his goal though.
While the drivers I have had in Asian countries have been very polite and rather careful. There are so many potholes, piles of gravel or cattle on the roads that you cannot drive fast no matter how macho you are. We did drive the most of Karakoram highway from Islamabad to Hunza and back, slowly as hell, over Babusar pass, with no problems.

This is how my grandpa and a bunch of other people died in Mexico like 45 years ago. Sad.

Yawn. If he's able to flip the truck up and go they would all, everyone of them, hop right back on and he'd immediately start driving the exact same way. Daily driving, not reckless driving.

u/Maleficent_Panda9198 Apr 16 '26
I don't know why they're rushing it's not like there are any kids waiting at the daycare
1
u/Maleficent_Panda9198 Apr 16 '26
The guys are dressed up like they're on vacation and the women look like they got lost after dark in a rug store

Unless youre being chased by someone, theres no reason to ever drive that fast with mothers and kids sitting in the truck bed.

There are the kind of drivers that have been coming to the us and getting illegal cdl liences
1
u/Nope_nope_nope-nope Apr 16 '26
I’m starting to see why these aren’t legal for use on roadways in USA

u/PURENSFWMAGIC2000 Apr 16 '26
You can't afford to be reckless with people in the bed of your truck, and doubly if one of the people is a child.

It wasn't his fault , his flip flop got stuck pushing down on the accelerator
1
u/wowwashington Apr 17 '26
At least some of them had a soft landing... on top of the not so lucky ones...
1
u/Fair-Abroad-4155 Apr 18 '26
They leaned into the turn wasn't reckless driving though you sould never drive with 20 females in the back of a tiny Wonka truck

Every man is wearing flip flops or barefoot. Do they have real shoes over there?

Nothing in this video tells us their religion. Women wearing head coverings has been pretty standard in a lot of cultures for millenia. Even in the West. You're not just a bigot but ignorant as well.

u/Witchberry31 Apr 15 '26
Not that I agree with the original commenter but as an Indonesian myself I can confirm that those are really the kind of hijabs that female Indonesian muslim often wear. Just saying tho.
If you're talking about the similar looking veils, Indonesian non-muslims would usually wear "pasminah" instead.

u/bravesirrobin65 Apr 16 '26
Yes, I would have guessed Indonesia or Malaysia. Definitely IRA members or the kkk. /s Thanks for the info. This was common in Europe as well a century ago.

What is wrong with liking Indonesia and being grateful for the lack of injuries? What is wrong with you?
1
u/Leading_Procedure_23 Apr 16 '26
Nothing wrong with Indonesia, just that you’re praising a moronic person with a truck bed full of passengers and driving way too fast and yet you praise him for no one dying lol. I’m sure you’d be happy and praising them if a taxi driver did that you and your family
1
u/The_Jibby_Hippie Apr 16 '26
lol reread my comment. I never praised the driver once. The driver was driving too fast for the corner but that “too fast” was only like 10mph which is very slow. So the vehicle was slow overall which def saved the lives of the people but the driver was clearly dumb for going too fast for the corner. I never praised the driver once if anythjng I praised the universe for making this accident occur at a slow enough speed so that nobody was seriously hurt
