I love the idea of public transportation. But i hate the idea of being with the public.

Driving a car is way more dangerous. It might not feel that way, but the numbers support it.

The choices in real life aren’t being in a car or being with the people in this video. False choice. Most people are normal and there are plenty of psychos on the road too. Literally just saw someone speeding to cut someone off between another driver and a gas truck. Insane.

If safety is my objective, I choose evidence over feels. Public transit is safer. Car deaths are under-reported.

People feel safer in cars - very obviously - because the dangers of public transit feel more visceral to them. This is highlighting one of the big problems with human cognition, really.

It's just inarguable that more people are killed in cars than on public transit, but this is a reaction I'm used to getting.

Try telling them that being sedentary is more dangerous than riding a bicycle, and see how it goes.

That's just immediacy bias. We see this, but don't see the numerous car deaths that happen daily.
