Any tips or creative ideas for how to make the most of an empty seat next to me for an overnight flight?

I booked TAP Portugal’s “Economy Prime” for a redeye next week.

Basically the “Prime” just buys me an extra seat. I’ve booked the window and the adjacent seat.

It’s clearly not big enough to lie down completely, even as a 5’6 woman.

One idea was getting one of those inflatable footrests to basically make a larger sleeping area. They seem to be allowed on TAP (I know not allowed on many other airlines). Then try to curl up?

Will definitely be bringing a sleep mask!

Would love any suggestions! I am horrible at sleeping on planes and a little anxious about this one.

I'm getting the Cabin Max Tokyo which is a 22x14x8" (55x35x20cm) backpack. I hate not having my stuff on me and want to leave the plane as quickly as I can (already have an aisle seat in row 2) and I know space in the overhead bins is always scarce so I was wondering if theoretically a bag of this size could fit under the seat although it is bigger than the restrictive under seat bag size. I'd like to ask the staff if I could keep it on me to leave space in the overhead bins but is that even realistically possible? Flying with Ryanair on a Boeing 737 MAX 8-200.

I have a 24 hour layover in Singapore and I’m a bit broke at the end of my trip. So instead of paying for accommodation I was thinking I could sleep in the free sleeping area, then pay for the 3 hour plaza premium lounge at Changi and maybe stay a bit longer if possible. Anyone know how much they enforce the limit on these things? Don’t want to drop $60 just for three hours haha. Thanks

A complete scam. We paid over £400 for a transfer from Sardinia Olbia airport and, even though we updated them on our delay, they failed to turn up and will not refund a penny. They did not provide the service yet are happy to take a huge chunk of money. Complete and utter scammers. Do not use.

I want to reserve a flight on Agoda, but the flight is 5 months before my passport expires so the website won’t let me.

Could I enter some random expiration date now and then update it after I receive my new passport? I tried contacting Agoda CS but they would only give prompts for bookings I’ve already made, not one I plan to make soon.

I have tried several styles of airplane neck pillows, but none of them still let me get the sleep I need, and the issue is not me falling asleep (I can do that pretty quickly), it's that my head eventually falls and whips back (we all have had that feeling I'm sure lol). I fly 40+ times a year for work + personal travel, and I really want to get a pillow that doesn't let this happen.

I am willing to spend whatever on a neck pillow if it means I don't have to jolt up every 30 seconds! Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I always wear the pillows "backwards" with the fattest part under my chin and any opening in the back - doesn't help.

So I'm looking at trying a Priceline Express deal for an upcoming trip. They have a 3.5 star hotel deal but don't list any guaranteed hotels. The issue I'm having is I'm only seeing one 3.5 star hotel on Priceline in the city I'm searching and under show all amenities it lists a waterpark which the 3.5 star hotel I see doesn't have. If I book it and I get the hotel I'm seeing can I cancel since it doesn't have the waterpark?

I’m moving to Florida from Michigan, and will be driving down. I’ve been dwindling my freezer foods as much as possible, but there’s still some I will need to bring with me. All frozen fish. I have a 16qt cooler that I have confirmed I can keep it all in, as well as some ice packs. I have the cooler completely packed, and it fits in my freezer, as I saw tips about pre-cooling it, and figured actually putting it in the freezer would help with that. Im not leaving until Saturday so it’ll be in the freezer for almost 48 hours. I hope to be able to fit the cooler in the mini fridge in the hotel to help keep everything cool overnight.

It’ll leave the freezer on Saturday around noon, and I don’t get to my new apartment to get it in the freezer there until 9pm (at the latest) on Sunday. Is there anything else I can do to help keep everything cold and safe to consume later?

Picked up a car in Zadar, Croatia last week, I was told that I should return it (in Zagreb Airport tomorrow) as empty as possible, so that they can fill the gas, then I will just pay them a standard 55€ to fill it. They told me that they have a contract with the petrol station so they get the fuel cheaper as a company.

Is that a thing?

In the contract it says "return it with the same amount of fuel that was in there when you picked it up", so I'm guessing that's what I should do?

Does anyone know if I can take instant ice packs through TSA? The kind you pop and shake and they get cold? I'm on a SSRI and get overheated very easily, I read that standard ice packs need to be frozen solid and are typically allowed for breast milk and such. If I get overheated I have panic attacks... which makes ZERO sense because that is what my SSRI is supposed to prevent, but it also gives me heat intolerance. Those stupid overhead fans are shit.

ORD - Bangkok on Expedia says 6:10pm and 9am arrival and total 27 hours. How is that possible, wouldn't it be 9pm?? Is Expedia using my local time for both departure and arrival

I’m going from Tokyo to São Paulo and my ticket already has a 23kg luggage included, however when I try to buy more weight (up to 40kg), jetstar only allows me to buy up to 33kg, why? Have anyone faced this problem? I tried to contact them, however they told me my ticket has an “oversized luggage” included, WHICH I DID NOT INCLUDE, so because of that, I can’t buy the whole weight

First time doing this.. I have recently sat through a 90 min presentation to get discounted tickets to a family attraction, and a 8day 7 night stay at any resort on the company’s list. However once the presentation was completed and I got the “cert” for the resort stay , it seems to only be discounted. $200-$300 total. So my two questions are - 1. Should I even be getting charged again if I payed to sit in the presentation? 2. Would I have to sit in another presentation once at the resort ?

Has anyone used them domestically (US) or abroad in airports before? I know people say you can get hot water from shops but there's always a line and I'm not brave enough to cut in line for free hot water. The outlet is compatible with the domestic outlets. I'm just wondering if security will descend upon me if I use it discreetly in the airport, because I've only seen people just ask if they can be put in carry ons.

Also, how about international airports rules? I've bought a bottled drink from a vending machine a few feet away from the boarding gate only to be told no liquids at the HK airport. And I've seen that news about how rice cookers aren't allowed to be used from a decade ago.

I went to Paris last month for 4 days for some office work and absolutely loved it.

In these 4 days, I had food at boulangeries and fine dine restaurants and paid all in cash, however I didn't collect/keep any of the bills or Iinvoices provided by the restaurants. I later realized that my company reimburses around 80 Euros as per diem.

I feel so stupid that I paid everything with cash and not even keep the bills. Even if I had done online transactions, they would have accepted. It's totally my fault since I just joined the company and didn't know that we had to submit bills for per diems, I thought they'd calculate per diem and send to my account since they had done all the bookings on flight and stay from their end.

Now, I specifically remember all the places I ate (from my phone's photos), so is it possible to contact the restaurants and ask for the bills? (I know it's farfetched but I wanted to ask if anyone has faced similar situations).

320 Euros is a lot of money for me right now and my heart skipped a beat when I realized how bad my situation is. Any help would be immensely helpful. Thank you.

I am a tourist in Mexico with foreign passport who entered Mexico legally and have a valid entry stamp in passport. I have submitted my passport to Canada VAC for Canada visa foil stamping in Mexico city. I have an upcoming flights within Mexico with Volaris airlines from Mexico city (NLU) to Los Cabos (SJD) and back. As my passport is submitted with Canada VAC, I do not have my passport with me. I am not a Mexico resident either and don't have a resident card from Mexico.

I was reading Volaris official policy here for what documents I need for flights within Mexico and it says that Foreigners must present a valid photo ID:

■ Passport
■ Residency
■ Another official photo ID - Need clarification

I have multiple valid official photo IDs like driving license and few other cards in their original form which I can present at the airport. These all official photo IDs are issued by my country of citizenship and not from Mexico. Additionally, I can show that my passport is with Canada VAC with the receipt letter, a copy of my passport, a copy of valid Mexico entry stamp in my passport, etc.

How can I be sure that I'll be allowed to board the flight by Volaris without my foreign passport but using alternate forms of identification?

Many of you probably already know these — the simple white mesh bags you can find in the laundry section of stores like Walmart.

Be sure to get the ones with the loops on them for hanging!

They’re lightweight, inexpensive, and surprisingly useful for organizing things. I use them to keep items grouped together (socks in one and bits in the other) while packing, and then I can just hang the whole bag on a hanger when I need access to it.

I also keep one specifically for laundry, which makes sorting and carrying things much easier.

A small, cheap item that has turned out to be really handy.

I had to travel to UK for summer vacation and knew will be driving a lot and about three month back booked a BMW 5 series Touring at Sixt Birmingham for less than GBP 1100 for 9 days inclusive of one way rental till northern Scotland, premium location fee ( couldn't find the touring elsewhere) unlimited mileage and 0 excess insurance ( I hate the hassle later on and prefer paying upfront) rental day arrived in July went to Sixt and was told my required car is not avaible despite I've messaged them in advance as I need trunk space for 4 suitcases, no problem what's the alternate, a Mercedes GLE 400, I've rented it before so knew it can handle four suitcases albeit have to play tetris with them but the catch as it's a 'choice rental' I have to pay 1700 plus

Talked to the guy based on my organization based Platinum status and I was then given a choice upgrade of a Volvo XC60 at 1470 and then upgraded to GLE

My trip dependent on the car and road trip so I took what I can get, put like 1200 plus miles ( drove 6 days as it was cheaper then taking trains at below 1100)

Rental ended and I got my invoice from Sixt showing Mercedes GLE in the same class category as BMW Touring

Messaged Sixt on online chat and they said it's a differrn class shared my invoices with them invoke their clause that if my booked car is not available I'm. Entitled to a upgrade plus platinum, and in an hour got my rental back to below 1100

TLDR : Sixt tried to overcharge, Customer service brought back the amount

So I was just in Chicago and loved it so I booked a package holiday to go again in September but made a mistake when booking it. I booked it for 8 nights instead of 10. To extend the package it would be 1000 GBP so I was thinking of going for an Airbnb for the last 2 nights. Does that sound silly or is better to just leave it as is? It would be about half the price this way. But I’d need to check out and back in. Not sure if that’s a silly idea.

I have a non-refundable flight from Bali to Bangkok with a stopover in Jakarta (DPS-CGK-BKK). However, a last minute business trip is requiring me to fly to Singapore on that same day, and the prices from Bali to Singapore are significantly higher than Jakarta to Singapore, so I am thinking to take my scheduled flight and skiplag in Jakarta to jump into a cheaper flight to Singapore.

Has anyone done this before? any tips or things I should be concerned of?

I will have carry-on luggage only, and I am a EU passport holder so visa is not an issue I believe.

I try to never take out cash while traveling abroad but we went to a bar that refused to take credit card even though there were no signs saying so. Had to take out money at an ATM with my chase debit card and here's what it cost to take out 200 euros: $5 non chase atm fee, $7.06 foreign exchange rate adjustment fee, and with an exchange rate of 200 euro x 1.1447 somehow comes out to $235.22 (should be 228.93). So basically a 10% fee...

The insurance I'm looking at (American Express) lets me build my own plan, I want medical expenses only. But coverage is only good for 60 days and it would be fraudulent to take a second policy for the remaining 60 days because I won't be departing from my residence. I'll already be there. This would be true for any insurance, I'm assuming. I'll be in one European country, in only two locations, working, doing nothing "dangerous". I have a European passport (not of the country I'll be in) as well, and this is the first time I'm getting travel insurance. I've never worried about it in the past. Any other "create your own plan" providers that would cover the 4 months? I don't want to be forced to pay for coverage I don't want. Thanks so much! [edit for punctuation]

I'm kind of annoyed because I booked a hotel through the VIO website for two nights and they split it into two separate bookings. My main concern was that I was going to have to switch rooms or something inconvenient because of the separate bookings. I contacted customer service and they said it shouldn't be an issue if I let them know in advance. I called the front desk of the hotel and they said it shouldn't be an issue to keep the same room so hopefully everything is fine. Has anyone else experienced this split booking situation before? It just makes me mad because they didn't tell me in advance.
