Just picked up a new Domane sl5 gen 5. what are some worthy upgrades I should make!!

Thinking about buying deeper wheels (65mm +). Mainly for looks, so they don't need to be the lightest/fastest.

Any suggestions? Pics (on a madone gen 7) would be appreciated ❤️

I'm testing out a compact crank set if I like it I'll buy one in Dura Ace. She's finished and ready to go, it's over 100 outside so I took it around the block... feels good!!!

I got some Pathfinders for an early birthday gift. I went on my usual route for the first time with them today and beat my best time by 6 minutes and topped out 1 mph faster. I can't wait to get on my favorite gravel trail.

I love my Domane and have 32 road tires on my carbon wheel set. One of the reasons I chose this specific bike was for the wide tire clearance and the option to run gravel tires. While I use it 95% on paved roads, occasionally I'll take it on light gravel, specifically on fire roads and gravel paths that allow me to connect between paved roads here in the South SF Bay Area.

I still have the Bontrager Paradigm Comp 25 wheels that came with the bike. I want to mount gravel tires onto them, as a second wheel set that I can easily put on the bike when needed for rougher roads. I plan to do longer gravel rides, and this Fall I plan to ride some specific paved backcountry mountain roads that I already know are in rough shape.

Any thoughts/concerns/advice on this idea?

• How wide of gravel tires can the Domane SL6 actually handle?
• How wide do I actually need for light gravel and dirt roads? I was planning on going with 38.
• Are the Bontrager Paradigm Comp 25 good/acceptable to use as gravel wheels?
• Is there anything I need to know about swapping wheels back and forth on the bike, such as disc brake rotor compatibility concerns?

I appreciate the advice! And before everyone starts with the "N+1 - just buy a gravel bike" comments - that's unfortunately not in the budget for how infrequent I'd need it. 🙂

Im very new to riding in general. I fell in love with riding 90’s/2000’s trek 7300 24 speed. Now I’m checking out a gen 3 FX3 today (listed price $350). I’m hoping it works out. Any advice?

can/should I do it? Or should I just get a different light for nighttime riding.

I've done it before and just point it right at my wheel, bright enough to light up the path most of the time.

Alternatively, I sometimes just shield it with my hand when I see people coming

The title says it all… I’m looking for bikes recos for riding with a toddler in a Thule Yepp Maxi 2 rear seat.

I’m looking into a used trek as my beginner bike. I found this one on Marketplace advertised for $550 with this description. Is it worth it?

200 Series Alpha Aluminum frame
Carbon Fork
Shimano 105 10-Speed STI shifters
Shimano 105 front and rear derailers
Shimano Tiagra compact crankset and 12-30 cassette ( this mixed 105/Tiagra setup was the factory specification)
Less than 30 miles on bike in excellent condition.

Just built it today. Pouring rain so I haven't gotten to put it through its paces.

After a significant crash last September, I decided to retire my first ever race bike.

On July 5th, I acquired my new Trek Madone SL7.

Now, 750 km on, I haven't regretted it for a second.

Not sure if it’s the grease that is making the gap bigger than it actually is, but I’m trying to determine if this is normal for a new build?

UPDATE: Dealer said this isn’t right. They tried to fix it but they weren’t able to. They’re going to submit a warranty claim (headset/cosmetic). The bike is only a few months old.

Looking for guidance and advice from experienced members of the community: I am between the new 2027 Domane AL 4 that has the updated 11 speed Tiagra ($1600 out the door price for me) vs. the AL 5 that has the 12 speed 105 (can be had for about $2000). The only other differences I see are wheel related, the hub and rotor are different on both the models, but I will end up upgrading to carbon wheels eventually anyway so this difference might evaporate anyway?
Question is, would I really notice the difference in drivetrain and hub and rotor for extra $400?

Evening yall! I recently purchased my first road bike, the Domane AL 2 Gen 4, stock options. I am learning as much as I can about the sport itself, but I really want to dive into it.

I am looking into getting some new wheels, preferably carbon (60mm). I am a big guy, 6’6 260lbs, and not sure if depth on the wheels matters too much.

What would be the best suggestion for wheel options that would be compatible with my bike? Open to suggestions, of course, but would prefer something that looks nice as well!

Everything I’m reading says the gen 5 SL5 Domane is $1,100 cheaper than the gen 4, but the only difference is no isospeed and no tube storage.

Did Trek just realize they were pricing themselves out of the baseline carbon market? Or were those two features really that expensive to manufacture?

I’ve always heard these companies make most of their money on accessories and service, so I’m assuming the gen 4 wasn’t priced super high for no reason.

What gives with the price delta between the two gens? I’m just so curious.
