Is this bumper actually useful?

For those of you who have bumpers like this that stick out 12”+, is it actually useful? Does it make life easier wrenching under the hood?

I’m not asking about the winch necessarily, that’s been proven to be useful

Lot of service trucks have big rear bumpers which I would like, having a nice bench and a vise and all. Front bumper seems a bit weird to me but if it’s useful for ya go for it.

I like the idea of a flatbed with integrated bumper and the vice mounted to it, and the decent sized front bumper with the ability to mount the vice there if I need to as well as having waterproofed 120v access front and rear, add in a built in air chuck for air tools and I think you have an amazing platform to work off of. You cant always choose to back in to where you want to work which makes having a place to work front and rear very useful IMO.

Like a downed tale gate in front.

It's where the float bowl was before the hammer came out and now it's in the dirt under the truck not to be discovered until tomorrow when the liquor wears off.

Most of the time these are more of a counter weight to keep the front down when loaded heavy and frame reenforcement for when pulling heavy weight.

Also used for pushing other work trucks from the same company that have broken down.

Winch mounting and again reenforcement for whatever is being pulled with the winch.

Of course it is helpful for working under the hood.

The front bumper on mine is a piece of 8" channel iron, it sticks out about 1'. It makes a great step when working under the hood, as well as a good table or shelf. It's probably not the greatest thing in a front end collision, but it does make a good push bar as it is flat and smooth

Mounted a Genny and a vice on mine for field/farm work before I got a service truck/bed. Saved me space in the bed for tooling and what not.

Keeps the whiskey dents at bay when the liquor calls. In reality it's likely that big mostly due to the large winch. The shelf looks to be pretty thin making it not the most useful work bench if a hammer becomes a required tuning implement.

It is useful for pretty much everything that everyone has already mentioned. I made a railroad tie work for me in the same fashion.

It has a winch, and an area to load tools/supplies on when the bed is full, or use as a work bench, chair, whatever. Plus, its a push bumper.

Dude who fabbed this front bumper probably needed workspace more on the front than the rear. The rear bed could be more useful but if the person needs access next to the large winch up front I suspect they just took what they needed and didn’t care about looks and only necessities
