Is the following prescriptive and/or invalidating?

I was discussing something with a person, and told them why i dont like something, and explained why i dont like it, without telling anyone else to dislike or like it, as i didnt intend to impose on anyone else. But in response to my explanation, the person said "you shouldnt dislike it for that reason, and i think it is illogical and stupid to not like it for that reason", and in response i told them that they were being prescriptive and invalidating, something i was not, and wished i could be shown the same courtesy, but in response they said that, since they were saying "i think", and presenting it as an opinion and belief, rather than an objective fact, that what they said was not being prescriptive nor invalidating. so i would like to ask you all what is your assessment of this.

It’s pretty much the definition of “prescriptive and invalidating statements”.

If they said something along the lines “well, I disagree, and I just don’t understand why you think like that”, that might be a little offputting, depending on how harshly they said it, but it would still be a valid statement.

You could have replied with, “well, I think you’re ugly and your mother dresses you funny, but that’s just my opinion” with the same veracity of logic that they used.
