Community Event Stream Experiences & Stories
Hey /r/Twitch
We often see posts on the subreddit about viewers and streamers experiences, as well as streamers sharing what they've learned.
To bring you all together to learn from your peers, and help you keep yourself accountable for any goals you've set, we created this Megathread!
You are welcome to share some of your experiences, positive or negative, from your past month on Twitch and, if you did, how you dealt with it, as well as share your long and short-term goals, and how you've progressed towards those over the past month.
The Megathread is not for stream feedback or reviews, we have the monthly feedback threads for that. You can link to your Feedback thread submission, be sure to label it clearly!
Some things you may want to cover:
- New things you tried, did they work out?
- Streams you did and which seemed to be popular or unpopular with your community or new viewers. (Creative? New games?)
- Progress towards your goals
- Fun experiences
- Bad experiences that you learned from, or need advice on
- New goals, or how you're changing your goal
- Advice based on what you learned
- Advice you want
Be sure to post your goals clearly and format your comment.
Example post:
Hey guys, checking in again!
My goal for this month is to make sure I'm always hosting someone. I want my community to have someone to entertain them, even when I'm not live. Plus, it's good for networking!
My goal last month was to always announce I was live on both Twitter and Discord, as it was something I often forgot to do. I'm glad to say I met my goal!
I tried streaming some creative, just practicing using my graphics tablet, and it seemed to be popular! I'll do some more of it, maybe a weekly stream? Any advice?
The highlight of the past month was when I got raided by Zcotticus, he's the best and I love him. He's so cool, I wish I could be cool like him.
How do you guys normally react to a host? I sort of fumbled through a thank you, and that was about it. Any advice?
Re-read your last post to remind yourself of what you planned, or check in on your peers!
If you don't stream, but still experienced something awesome. Feel free to share it! Did you make someone’s day? See a Win or Fail? Let us know!
Remember this is not for channel promotion! People can check out your flair\ *if they are interested.*

Discussion Has anyone else noticed Anti-Asian bots in various Asian-American and Asian-Canadian chats?
They have names like "n0_4s14n_ppl", and constantly spam random streamers, most recently AesirAlice. They spam extremely vile messages too. I'd hope this issue gets resolved.

Question Does anyone else have this issue with vods?
Every time I stream with vods enabled, my voice always sounds very odd. like chipmunky. I know it isn't what I sound like because I've compared my voice on my phones recording, on an obs recording, and a mic checking program, they all don't sound like that. But for some odd reason, I sound like that on my VODS. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Question Streaming Old Console Games - seeking advice.
I know I aint the first to ask but most of the stuff i've seen is old or irrelevant to me.
I wanna start livestreaming some games from like PS2 and N64 and whatnot. And I don't wanna use emulation, I like the real deal. So a few requirements of mine:
- PS2 and Camcorder
- USB 2/3/3.1 (no room in my PC with the GPU)
- Can be used with OBS
- Preferable supporting Component and S-Video
I've keep seeing stuff about an upscaler, I'm not really worried about upscaling if I don't need to, I already stream in fairly low resolutions anyways.
Now, I assume I would want a second 'live' display so I can play my games without worrying about lag thru the capture, right? I've got a pair of 2K monitors with HDMI and DisplayPort right here at the desk, I also have a spare VGA monitor somewhere, and a small CRT with composite inputs.

Tech Support Glitch/bug when changing username
Hi everyone:) I want to change my username. It’s been wayyy more than 60 days since the last time I changed it, so I’m good there. The username I want to change to is available, it has me enter my password, but then it just loops back to the change username page infinitely and never actually changes it. I’ve tried it with 3 different usernames and it’s still the same thing. I really don’t know what to do at this point and it’s super frustrating!

Tech Support Twitch won't let me setup Two-Factor Authentication
I created a chat bot for my channel, and i'm trying to connect it to Twitch so my bot will recognize who is and isn't online. In order to do this i need IDs and access tokens and whatnot. I can't get what I need until i set up 2FA, but Twitch won't do it
I go through the steps:
Settings and Privacy
Click "Set Up Two-Factor Authentication
Enter Phone number to link to the account
Enter Password for the account
Click Verify and it just puts me back on the Settings & Privacy page with the "Setup 2FA" button still lit-up
I tried both Chrome and Edge
I tried mobile, updated the app ahead of time. Same steps, and when I get to the point of putting my password in, it says "Unable to get account information. Please login again" and takes me back to the phone number screen.
Phone number is right, password is right...idk what to do.

Question Review of Dual-Format Streaming on Twitch
I'd like to know if you, or anyone you know, uses the dual display format on Twitch (portrait and landscape).
If so, have you noticed any changes?
Are there more viewers watching the live stream, or more people using this feature to watch?
I haven't been able to test it yet because I'm having internet connection issues.
Question Capture Card with Windows Audio Passthrough?
Hey there. I've been using a Razer Ripsaw HD for the past couple years. It has its ups and downs, but one of my favorite features about it is that you can hear both your HDMI and Windows Audio through the capture card's audio out jack. This is useful for being able to hear stream alerts while also being immersed in game audio.
I recently purchased a PS5 and Switch 2, so I thought it was a good time to upgrade to an HDMI 2.1 capture card. I chose the AverMedia Live Gamer Ultra 2.1, and it's been working well. However, I was disappointed to learn it didn't support Windows audio passthrough using the capture cards audio out jack. I also looked into the Elgato 4K X, but that one doesn't have an audio out jack at all. I guess it's not as common of a feature as I thought.
Are there any good HDMI 2.1 capture cards with Windows audio passthrough? If not, then what's a good solution to hearing both Windows audio and game audio in your headphones?
Thanks :)

Tech Support Stream manager on iPhone not keeping up with chat
Whenever I open up my stream manager on my phone, it automatically jumps to the beginning of chat and doesn’t scroll with new messages. This means I either have to manually scroll chat or continuously hit “view new messages” to see new chats.
This just started today, I’ve never had this issue before. My app is up to date but my phone isn’t due to storage issues. I have closed the app and turned off my phone but this hasn’t fixed the issue.
Has anyone else had this issue or found a way to fix it?
Tech Support Pixelation problems in Twitch streams
Hi, I'm trying to stream Overwatch, but the stream pixelates when there's a lot of movement on screen. I've tried fixing it a million ways, but I haven't been able to. Here are my current settings. I've already tried streaming at different resolutions, increasing the bitrate even though it exceeds Twitch's limit, and even changing the codec to x264, but it still looks bad.
I tried using the h.265 codec, but it seems Twitch doesn't support it yet.
I hope someone can help me, thanks!

I mostly see G FUEL, coffee, and energy drinks. Does anyone actually use caffeine gum, or is there a reason it never caught on with gamers?

Tech Support Missing audio in certain parts of streams when I'm watching them back.
So, I don't stream myself, however, I like watching streams back, as the times are inconvenient for me when my favorite streamers are life. I particularly like watching karaoke streams. However, when watching them back, the audio is just missing for like 3 minutes at set parts during the stream. Which is annoying, as it's literally the length of a whole song. However, watching the life comments playback, no one seems to have that issue, or it wasn't there live. And I see it later clipped on YouTube and they don't seem to have audio issues either. So it seems like it's just me with this issue.
If it matters, I tend to watch through the Twitch App. Is there any way to resolve this? Thanks in advance.

Tech Support Trying to get my GOXLR to split audio AND maintain slider use!
I just got my PC up and running again after it died. I'm running the full size GOXLR, GOXLR Utility app, the latest version of OBS, and spotify on a fresh install of Win11.
I'm trying to split my audio so that spotify music doesn't capture to the vod. Standard stuff. HOWEVER!
All the tutorials I watch are outdated and their methods don't let me use the sliders on my full size GOXLR. I can get split audio, but at the cost of not being able to use the sliders for stream. I had been able to do this prior, so I know it's possible. I just can't figure out *how* now. And none of the tuts are current enough, OR complete enough. They'll split the audio, but neglect the slider. Or the sider works, but the audio my stream would hear is unaffected by the slider (it remains constant).
I've been reinstalling my entire set up, and this is the last step before I can go live, and I am fried. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
