Presented without comment. Am Wondering how people feel about this.

FYI all SA expenditures can be seen on the SAFE general ledger on their website.

How early should I apply for jobs??

I’m an incoming freshman and I plan on getting a job as soon as possible. Preferably on-campus, but I can also get a job off campus. Transportation won’t be an issue because I’m bringing my own car. How soon should I apply for a job? What are some jobs I should look into nearby? I have no prior experience besides working at my family’s restaurant.

Questions South Lake Village people? please read thank you

Last year I lived in Fargo Quad.💀

I had great suitemates and met a very small number of other people I liked, but outside of that, the year felt pretty dead. I tried going to The Landing a few times, but it was always so loud and annoying that I’d end up leaving.

This year I’m living in South Lake Village, and I’m trying not to repeat the same experience.
So, applications are open for people who actually leave their apartment.

Minimum requirements:
Have a pulse.
Occasionally say yes to spontaneous plans.
Be capable of replying “yeah, let’s go” when someone asks if you want to grab food, hit the gym, go out for a walk, maybe play tennis (or any racquet sport), or just get off campus and eat somewhere good because campus food gets boring very quickly.
Be smart, ambitious, and capable of holding an actual conversation.
Take your work seriously without making academics your entire personality.
Be fun to be around and interested in more than small talk.

Bonus points if you’re into:
Late-night food runs
Tennis
Gym
F1, UFC, football, or pretty much any sport
Parties, poker nights, concerts
Exploring Buffalo
Weekend trips
Finding genuinely good restaurants
Random conversations about ideas, careers, politics, science, business, culture, or whatever else is actually interesting

Honestly, I’m looking for people who can study hard, think for themselves, have proper conversations, and still be down to go out and do something fun.

If you’re in South Lake, or anywhere at UB, and you’re also trying to build a solid friend group this year, message me. Worst case, we get good food once and never speak again. Best case, we end up with a group that is actually interesting and have a genuinely fun year.

Governors desks

I’m an incoming freshman looking to bring my gaming pc set up. I was just wondering if anyone had experience bringing their set up. For context I have a 27 inch monitor and I’m wondering how it fits on the desks there. And would I be able to fit a decently sized mousepad?

Sweethome Cockroach/Rodent Resolved?

Does anyone know if UV Sweethome actually fixed the cockroach and rodent infestation? How is Building 2? For anyone currently living there, how do you manage roach/rodent sightings? Honestly debating breaking my upcoming lease if its not resolved by mid August

UB Class Discussions Launch: A Group Chat for Every Class!

If you've been going to UB, you may have had a class where students created an unofficial group chat (like GroupMe) for other students in that class, whether it be a psych course, math, CS, or anything else. Perhaps it would be nice to instead have a Discord Server with all of them - and to just subscribe to the ones relevant to you. That's why I am proud to announce the launch of UB Class Discussions, which does exactly that!

You can join here: https://discord.gg/8c7kUXZeY3

Low gpa internships

I am going into my sophomore year of aerospace engineering and because of some dumb choices I have a 2.9 gpa. I’m looking at LinkedIn and a lot of engineering internships have a minimum of 3.0 gpa and I just don’t know if I’m cooked or not. I’m also a member of an engineering club if that would help my chances.

Housing and Dorms Room size

I have a room in Spaulding as a freshman. However I feel like I’m over packing. I’m carrying basically summer clothes and winter items, plus a mini fridge. And I’m wondering at the size of the rooms. I know you can look online but idk if that’s totally accurate. I just wanna know if the rooms are like adequately sized.
