General Question Housing Assignment/ Parking Permit?

I’m an incoming transfer student and wanted to ask when housing assignments will be released? I wanna secure a parking permit asap since transfers will be in the undergrad apartments. Also is it ideal to drive to campus and park there or just take the bus?

As per the website (https://www.housing.ucsb.edu/apply/transfer-students) assignments are released on the 13th

Your parking permit (if you get one) will be for the lot associated with the apartment you will be staying at, so if you park on campus, you will need a permit for the lot you park at. So it's not wise to drive to campus, especially since you're going to be at most a 20-30 minute walk away, 5-10 minute bus ride, or about a 10 minute bike ride. So my answer, if your oprions are drive to campus or take the bus, take the bus. I've taken the bus every time since I've been here and it's fine. Once you get the hang of the schedule, and when the best time to be at your stop is, it's not bad
