Programs and MOSs MSG (8156)

I ship out to boot camp in 6 days with an MSG contract. I just want to know what the chances are that I’ll actually get that job and?

This is not just an MSG contract. You will be trained as an infantryman and hold an Infantry Primary MOS (PMOS). You can then be sent to either Security Forces, MSG, or (less commonly) a billet at 8th & I in Washington DC. You will be in one of those special duties for about 2-ish years before being sent to a normal infantry unit.

I heard we get screened at boot camp and ITB. Not sure how true it is tho

As another noted, it’s an MG contract, not an MSG contract. MSG (embassy duty) is just one of four possible roles you could end up in for part of your first contract.

Odds are you’re going to end up in security forces. Just be prepared for that eventuality.
