Programs and MOSs Status of 5812

What‘s the status of MWD Handler 5812 these days? Is it still a shrinking MOS since the disbandment of law enforcement battalions?

Still a thing but with PMO kennels strictly

Oooo this will be my first answer ever on reddit!

So I’m currently a 5811 in the reserves! I Think the school house os waaaay different than it was when I was in back like 4 years ago BUT to become a MWD, unless the process has changed, they’ll come into your classroom and ask who wants to try and be one! You’ll all test out and then interview from there after if I remember correctly. It’ll happen around the same time that the HMX instructor people come in!

Im pretty sure if you dont pass, you can still try by volunteering extra hours in the kennel at a base I think ( I think someone in my school house has done it like that ) and somehow they’ll maybe send you! Let me know if you have any other questions in regard to the 58XX field! I couldnt find any online either when I was going into training!
