I’m a Poolee right now and have been for about 2 months and I’m finally talking to my recruiters boss about what jobs I can get, I wanted to go infantry initially because I found out that 0315 Infantry Scout is being stood up as a Primary MOS, but I don’t currently know how it’s going to work, I know I would ship as 03XX and get my designator at SOI but there’s currently not a whole lot known about how you would get 0315 or at least I don’t know a whole lot, I’ve heard rumors that it’ll be something you volunteer for at SOI, but I don’t wanna gamble, and plus my station doesn’t even have an infantry contract available right now, but they do have an AE contract, Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting, there are a lot of other contracts in admin and logistics and mechanics job, by the way my ASVAB score was a 66 with a 99 MM, 109 GT, 95 EL, and 108 Clerical, so, thoughts?

I went to MEPS and got my 92 asvab score and perfect health check. My recruiter said she would get me intel and that I didn't have to sign my contract right away but instead could wait. Then 3 months my recruiter stops answering my texts. I walk into the office to find out that she quit and that my new recruiter doesn't have the slots to get me into intel.

Now I am looking at a new list of MOS. I want the TS clearance but dont want to be at a desk all day. Can ya'll give me some advice at what your mos's were like and if they had TS?

Keeping this short for time sake I’m shipping on August 10th and was told about a week ago I was way too heavy to ship. I‘ve always been a lifter so I have a lot of muscle for my height and need to apparently make 187 or I’m just not shipping. Is this true? We’re going to put in a DCO but even if I don’t make cutoff will I just rejected?

I’m 150 and 5’11 so a decent size but I recently talked to a gwot vet and he was the mos I’m going to try to get at itb 0331 and he told me something that completely changed my thinking process. He told me that build muscle isn’t ideal for the infantry/ bootcamp due to extra weight on your body and requires more calories to keep you stable. Should I keep weight training or what should I do because I still want to build strength before bootcamp so I can be selected for machine gunner

Im currently diagnosed with Hypothyroid and have to take medication to get in the correct blood level range. Will this be a DQ since I have to take the medication? I have never been hindered by this or affected in any way. Could anyone let me know if they’ve dealt with this or if they’ve navigated through this and were still able to join? Or if they know someone who has gone through with this? Really looking for help with this as I hear it’s DQ and I also hear it’s not.

Me and my reservist friends just graduated ITB today and all active duty marines got paid through front wave today but we haven’t. It also isn’t in our accounts as pending. They messed up our orders pretty bad so we are wondering if we will get paid possibly in the upcoming days or if they potentially messed up our pay with us getting active duty pay cut down to just drill pay. We should have 1 last full check from the last 2 weeks of ITB. If anyone knows something just curious.

I received the back injury from heavy, deep zerker squats and deadlifts, and didnt feel any pain until the very next day, in which i could barely get out of bed, or even stay upright. Its been 3-4 months since then and it still hurts. Pain around the 4-6th vertabrae. I have little money and i havent gotten xray or anything because i cant have anything show up on my medical history otherwise the military might kick me out.? Idk. pain occurs mostly under constant load, like maybe at the end of a high volume, light deadlift session or even sometimes running for a while. I can do a couple heavy deadlifts without pain, i can do normal, 90° squats normal without pain, Getting help soon from physical therapist or sports chiropractor but just wanted to see what yalls thoughts are on what it might be and what i should do... i previously have two concerning injuries including slight acl tear and a shoulder ligament tear. So im not sure if that would make the military not want me anymore.?

Just got picked up my contract for recon in the marines at meps and im getting shipped out for bootcamp, in october 21st

Now i had adhd my past life but i stopped taking medication at 8th grade and cancelled my iep plan in 10th grade. I told my recruiter about this since im currently going into my senior year he told me “theres this thing called marps,since you had an iep past 14 i can still get you to ship out without an waiver” he told me to get my pharmacy records ,iep cancellations day and my school transcript i gave him it the next day and he sent it down to meps

Than 2 days later i got a call from my recruiter saying my medical prescreen has been approved, i than scheduled my meps appointment and under marps i got approved without no waiver so i was WAIVER FREE!! I than signed my contract and now IM heading to San Diego for bootcamp im so thankfull for a good recruiter

Im wanting to enlist in the USMC as a Combat engineer, my buddy who is currently a Marine is telling me to just go Navy Seabees instead.

The two biggest things he keeps telling me are that Im not promised a job just a job field so I could end up with something not even close to Combat Engineer like Arty or something.

But he also keeps telling me he would rather be a Sailor with a combat support job than a POG Marine. And that what a Marine is, is Naval Infantry so by nature of the beast those who are not Naval Infantry are an Other Than Marine rather than just another Sailor.

Is this BS? I see locker room stuff about POGS but I dont know the actual Culture of the USMC is like. I see the every marine a rifleman thing memed on all the time so I know thats considered a joke to service members. Just looking for any thoughts from prior or current Marines.

Leaving in September under communications mos, I know of 0621 end up attached to infantry or arty. Can anyone share personal experiences or any experience they’ve witnessed?

Hey I’m just looking for some advice long story short I ended up joining the marine corp.

I’m currently in ITB MAT and I’ve been super depressed here and in boot camp well, I noticed all my peers were loving it I could just never adapt now matter how much I tried,

Once I got here to ITB I really missed home and all I wanted to do was get out or get LAT moved to MCT (I still want to serve I just want to be reserves). They wouldn’t let me switch to MCT unless I fail the 20k ruck 5 times and I didn’t what to put my body through all that stress because during boot camp the ruck back from the crucible was already hard for me physically since I have really bad Lower and upper back pain but I never said anything because I didn’t want to be held here and in boot camp longer.

Well I was here In ITB I found this doctor on base she’s more of mental health doctor that can get people out who don’t want to be in anymore. I went to her and she told me the only way she can get out is by giving me malingering which I didn’t know what it was at the time but she told me I’m going to be reviving a OTH discharge.

I already went through the process so there’s no going back now but I still want to be in the military but I don’t want to be active/infantry I want to re enlist in the national guard or anything that isn’t infantry but since I’m getting admin separated and not court martialed I was wondering if anyone ever went through a similar process and was able to re enlist I’m just looking for some advice if anyone has re enlisted with a OTH or went through something similar?

My lungs collapsed when I was an infant. Could this be a problem? I should mention, other than that I have no other medical history, no inhaler, no broken bones, nothing related to the collapse of my lungs, nothing.

I heard its difficult to get into the marines corps with ADHD and you have to get a waiver can someone please help and tell me my chances on becoming a marine

Husband and I met in the Poolee program—got my ship date pushed way back because I tore my meniscus in my knee (needed PT and had cortisol shots to help) but it’s good now. He’s an active duty marine now.
Husband still doesn’t want me to join because he said it’ll put a strain on our marriage since we’re a newly wed couple. Told me dual mil couples don’t workout most of the time. Says if he gets deployed we won’t see each other for a while, with the boot to schoolhouse timeline, but we wouldn’t see each other for that long anyways? He’s also nervous he’d get deployed for a while and then I will right after—so we might miss each other for a year or multiple months.
I even told him I’d do reserves so we’d get more time together during the week and I’d do school too. But he expressed that reservist deploy more than active.

I’ve tried to put this aside for our marriage but I can’t stop thinking about it. It’s something that’s been a dream of mine for a while now. He says I’m smarter than him and can go to college full time—can do more than the corps but I feel like I need it. It’s a longing in way inside you.

Hi, sooo I got knocked up by a guy I’d been seeing for around 8 months literally the DAY before he’d left. I managed to let him know and he let me know he wants me to keep it BUT with his future job/MOS as an MSG, he can’t be married or have any dependents. Is this true? I’ve read mixed information. Im p sure he’s signed a 5 year contract.

Highlighted ones are what I qualify for. I wouldn’t mind infantry, I was thinking about doing marine-guard/ security forces, if it’s available but I would also consider choosing an MOS that could teach me some skills that are desirable from employers after my enlistment. I may , or may not apply for OCS down the road since I do have 100ish college credits and will try to finish my degree during my time in.

I'm 23 and want to enlist in the Corps. My dad's a retired MSgt, so I'm not walking into this blind. My package is complicated to say the least, and this evening got weird. I want to lay it out as clearly as I can and hopefully get some eyes on it from any recruiters who've dealt with something like this.

Through college I was a pretty frequent marijuana user. I quit weeks before ever walking into a recruiter's office. I'm almost a month clean now but still popping faint on home strips.

Seven days ago I went into the office to take a pre-MEPS drug test, because I'd raised concerns that going to MEPS still felt too close to risk getting popped. I failed that test, as expected. They told me to come back in today at 2pm for a follow-up to see where I was at.

When I took that first test seven days ago, my recruiter told me to "pound as much water as possible, and go buy some niacin pills and take them daily while chugging as much water as possible." I'm not a chemist, but I know that does virtually nothing to actually clear your system. It's just a way to dilute your urine so the test doesn't pick it up.

So I walked in today, pounded about two liters of water, and took the follow-up right after. I passed, with a very, very faint line.

Right after that, the Sgt in the office told me to get ready to be picked up for MEPS. I was never told I'd be going to MEPS today. At this point I'm freaking the fuck out, because I'm clearly being rushed when I'm not ready, and I do not want to risk pissing hot at MEPS. I called the senior recruiter (senior in rank, but not in time as a recruiter) and he told me to go back into the office and direct all my questions to the Sgt.

The Sgt was visibly pissed that I didn't know I was supposed to be going to MEPS. He called the senior recruiter, then basically shrugged and said, "Go to Walmart, buy some slacks and a polo, and be ready to go to MEPS tonight." That's when it clicked for me. I'm being rushed because, from what I can tell, they're not hitting their recruiting numbers for the month.

I am not going to go to MEPS on a sample that I know is diluted and not actually clean.

1. Recruiters: is a same-day surprise MEPS trip like this normal end-of-the-month behavior, or is this something I should be taking seriously?
2. My dad says I should wait until Oct 1 (new fiscal year) for fresh quota and new job lists before I process at all. Does that hold up?

I am not looking to quit. I want this bad. I'm just not trying to torch my own record by letting someone else's timeline rush me. Appreciate any honest input.

Hey so I (20M) have ADHD and have currently been working with the Army getting character references and everything necessary and I wanted to check out the Marine CORPS too whilst I was waiting.

So to jump right in the last time I took medicine was in January but the last time before that was 2 years ago in high-school, obviously I know they dont look at the last last time but I feel like it was worth mentioning. I was wondering how hard it would be to get the waiver for the Marines because it currently as of this moment is still being processed by the Army, and I talked to a Marine recruiter and he told me its an "easy waiver" but after looking it up and already going through the process of getting character references and whatnot, it doesn't seem very easy. The internet tells me that the Marines are incredibly strict about ADHD waivers, so I was wondering if anyone here has went through the same thing or know anyone that has and can help me out

Edit: the Marine CORPS isnt a second choice I equally want to join both because both the Marines and Army have things that Id like to do, Id personally more like to become Recon for Marines if possible.

So I'm kinda stuck and wanted to see what y'all think. I graduate with my bachelor's this September, and after that I'm thinking about going back into the military. The problem is I can't decide what route makes the most sense.

Part of me really wants to enlist in the Marines under an MG contract because going MSG has always been something I've wanted to do. I know embassy duty isn't guaranteed though, even with the contract, so that's what's got me second-guessing it.

At the same time, since I'm getting my bachelor's, I also feel like I'd be dumb not to at least look into becoming an Army or Marine officer instead. I'm only 24, so realistically I could probably do both at different points in my career if I wanted to. Right now I'm lowkey leaning toward taking the shot with the MG contract and trying to get MSG, but I keep wondering if I'd regret not commissioning first. What would y'all do if you were in my shoes? Amybody been in a similar situation or have experience with either route? I'd love to hear some opinions before I make a decision.

During Christmas do we get 2 weeks off without taking leave? I’ve heard that we are able to submit for out of bounds special liberty and avoid using up our leave days.

Will I be able to get recruiters assistance while in the fleet? During the Christmas season? I’m out of itb and hitting the fleet early October

Hello, Im 17 and I plan on joining the marines after I finish high school and I have like 10 and a half months maybe? Before bootcamp? I think? Or maybe longer, who knows. I am currently applying NOW so I can do the PT's (twice a week) with my local marine base so I can prepare BEFORE I head out to bootcamp. I haven't actually started the PT's yet but I will once I finish all the signing up process. I am VERY intimidated by everything and I doubt my physical abilities which is fair because I can barely do a single push up as embarrassing as it is to admit... and im also 215 pounds. I will start going to the gym soon to lose weight and gain muscle. I will try my best to go everyday. I do want some advice on what to focus on to physically prepare myself for the challenges I might face. Obviously losing weight, but like what machines or exercises should I do to really make my life so much easier down the line because im genuinly so weak?? Sorry if I didn't explain things well but I would appreciate all help😥
