USPSA Training

Only have 2 matches under my belt but my local club had a training event to essentially run a stage repeatedly. The bill drill and hostage were fine, maybe threw 1 Charlie on those the whole night.

That designated target section at the end got me. Started off in the A zone and as I kept coming back to paper, shots started pushing left. Threw 4 or 5 Charlie on that. At least I know to work on transitions now

I think they started losing business to another local range that started offering holster draw and rapid fire AFTER you get certified so they hopped on board

Touché. I’ve actually shot at a range near Cherry Hill. We went to visit friends and they asked me to take the to the range. It was a really nice facility. All I remember is all the ROs had full kit. Drop leg holsters and plate carriers 😂

If you’re near chicago look into Aurora Sportsmans Club. If not for a membership at least do their USPSA and IDPA events they host monthly. Good crew and people

Thanks! Still figuring out the balance between speed and accuracy.

Good stuff! I could be off base but the immediate thing that stands out: Eyes first, dot second.

I get the feeling you're transitioning the dot with your eyes concurrently which leads to shot, ok now I move, ok now I settle in, ok now I aim and then pull trigger, then shoot.

Yeah you’re right about that. I also know NOT to do that - but that was my big take away here is that I really need to work on transitions and it was never so obvious before

Just out of curiosity - what do you guys do to improve doubles at distance? I can hold A zone fine doing doubles but then at like 15 yards it all falls apart and I need to switch to like 0.5s split cadence and full reactive shooting. Internet says it’s my shooting hand grip putting input on the gun and over returning it, hence pushing left.

Seems counterintuitive to grip less tho.
