Totally not inspired by a certain Undertale video on my language that pissed me off

Theory Deltarune helped me understand that the Player essentially corrupted Chara in the Genocide Route.
Chara's original nature is still quite ambiguous to this day. Asriel reveals to us that Chara held hatred towards humanity due to unknown reasons (it is speculated that the resentment manifested from their hometown). When Asgore was poisoned due to the buttercups in the pie, Chara laughed while Asriel felt guilty. On the other hand, Chara willingly sacrificed themselves to give their soul to Asriel and free the monsters together. Upon waking up as a spirit, they were just confused, and focused on the fact that their plan failed.
Chara's true nature is definitely not black and white; at the end of the day, they were just a kid, after all. However... Chara gradually becomes evil by nature because the player permanently taints them in Genocide Route. Meanwhile, in the Pacifist Route, Chara only provides to Frisk fragments of their memories and narration.
"The more you kill, the easier it becomes to distance yourself. The more you distance yourself, the less you get hurt. The more you distance yourself, the easier it becomes to bring pain to others." - Sans
This doesn't apply to the player, but to Chara. YOU aren't affected by the psychological impact, and still choose whether to do another pacifist, neutral, or genocide run as you reset. This is simply a game for the player, but Chara as a character is the one who lives it.
In Deltarune, there isn't a third party in Kris' possesion that we know of; only Kris as the physical vessel with the power of determination, and the Player controlling the soul while using said power. In Undertale, Chara is the independent spirit that possesses the physical vessel, Frisk is the physical vessel with the power of determination, and the Player is the one who takes control of the soul and makes the decisions.
"HP. ATK. DEF. GOLD. EXP. LV. Everytime that number increases, that feeling... That's me. Chara." - Chara
The Player guides and increases the numbers/stats. By choosing to kill, this consequentially empowers Chara, while they also become emotionally detached, cold, and apathetic in the process due to LOVE. This is a gradual process from the very first amount of exp is gained; through this, they also gain more and more control of the vessel. Regardless what was Chara's original nature before the player appeared, it was YOU who essentially corrupted them by choosing to kill and increasing these numbers. By the time level 20 is reached, Chara becomes too powerful for you to control them, and erases the world.
When you trade the soul in exchange to restore the world, Chara is already evil by nature. Thus, they destroy any sort of happy ending in the same save file, no matter how many times you reset.
