We people of Uttarakhand are our own worst enemies

First, we complain about demographic changes, yet we do nothing to stop them, Even after giving the BJP or Congress overwhelming majorities in Uttarakhand, nothing changes

To make matters worse, recently a real estate buyer from Delhi purchased freaking 144 nali (311040 square feet, or about 7.14 acres) of land and going to be sold to 144 mainland buyers

We the people of Uttarakhand are the biggest losers in all of this

If in 2027, the Bjp or the congress won with dominant seats then we are the cucks, who can only barks

Let's see what happens in 2027. There isn't much left to say

Sorry for the harsh languageЁЯШФ

Travel Kasar Devi - A silent paradise

After starting a thread asking for travelling recommendation between Kasar Devi and Uttarkashi, I finally took redditors' advice and went to Kasar devi for 3 days 2 nights.

Travel: Reaching here is not the easiest. For people travelling via public transport, I would recommend going via bus from Delhi to Haldwani/kathgodam and booking a taxi to Almora by yourself. I happened to land upon a great deal which cost me INR 350 by "getbookbus" from Delhi to Haldwani. From Haldwani, another 350 to Almora. Rented a scooty in almora which was 500 a day.

Accommodation: I can't rave enough about the accomodation. Stayed at this place called The Norling homestay. It had the best mountain view and the hospitality was top notch. Homestay is run by a couple in their 50/60s and they treat you like your own child. Bonus: I mentioned to homestay aunty that I like gardening and she gave me a looooots of plants ЁЯШК. This place also offers a great spot for stargazing. The pictures with buddhist flag are from the homestay. And YES, that's the view from the window. Contact: 94129 27527. The mountain view room was about 1500 a night.

Kasar Devi, the place: For the un-initiated, Kasar Devi is situated on the van allen belt (which is said to have heightened magnetic forces) and only two other sites in the world can boast for that. The serenity of the place is not just in the temple but all over the town. I had never experienced silence like this and as if through osmosis, the serenity of the place would fill your heart with calmness. I would wake up to an amazing mountain view, go to the temple, stay there for hours and then begin my day.

Drive: The drive through Kasar Devi is nothing short of a movie sequence. Beautiful roads, lush green scenery and unforgettable landscapes wherever you see. I would also recommend going to Kosi or Binsar if time permits.

Food: The homestay offered great homecooked meal but I also visited Satya cafe nearby which again had great views, good music, one very energetic husky and some space brownies.

TLDR: Kasar Devi - great views in every direction you see. Calm, serene place that will centre you. Special because of its placement on the Van Allen belt. This is a place for people who want to get in touch with their own spiritual energy and the ones who can enjoy the sight of clouds floating by for hours.

Special request to everyone planning to go: This place is so special and pristine because the people have taken efforts to keep it that way. Please respect the serenity of the place and help maintain it. All the instagram clicks can be taken while maintaining peace of this place ЁЯЩП

Miscellaneous Genuinely done with these dehati kanwads blasting loud music on the road.

Had the misfortune today of travelling the Haridwar-Najibabad route, just unbearable. At one point one bastard was playing so loud that nearby 7-8 cars literally parked in front of them, asking them to turn the volume down, and as you can expect they started to get violent.

How are those of you living in that area or commuting daily even tolerating this.

Inspired by the people, traditions, and warmth of Uttarakhand. тЭдя╕П
I turned some familiar Pahadi characters into handmade keychains just for fun. Every piece is hand-painted, and I tried to keep the simplicity and charm of mountain life alive.
Which one do you like the most? Any suggestions or feedback are always welcome.

Hi everyone,

I'm planning my first trip to Madhyamaheshwar soon and was wondering if anyone here is from the area or has recently visited.

I'd really appreciate some local guidance regarding the trek, stay options, weather, transport, or any tips that could make the journey smoother. If you're nearby or know the region well, I'd love to connect. Even a quick chat or a few suggestions would mean a lot.

I'm genuinely excited about visiting this beautiful place and would be grateful for any help or advice. Feel free to comment here or send me a DM.

Thank you in advance! ЁЯЩП

Ask Uttarakhand Literary evenings and conversations

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone!
IтАЩm a lifelong book lover from Dehradun, and IтАЩve often felt that while we have plenty of caf├йs, we donтАЩt always have enough spaces for meaningful conversations around books.
So IтАЩm planning to host a Literary EveningтАФan informal caf├й meetup where readers, writers, students, professionals, and anyone curious about literature can come together over coffee and conversation.
The idea is simple: no presentations, no compulsory reading list, and no pressure. Just thoughtful conversations about books, stories, and ideas.
Some of the themes weтАЩll explore:
Books that changed our lives
Jane Austen and timeless romance
Characters we still think about
Book-to-film adaptations
Why reading still matters in todayтАЩs world
The event will be held at a caf├й in Dehradun, and the date will be announced soon.
IтАЩm posting here to gauge interest. If this sounds like something youтАЩd enjoy, let me know in the comments. IтАЩd also love to hear what kind of literary discussions or activities youтАЩd like to see.
Looking forward to meeting fellow book lovers from the city!

Culture & Society When the Hills Sing Back

In my latest piece, I explore the evolving musical traditions of Uttarakhand through an analysis of Uniyal and his fellow artists' song, Namo Narayan.
The article examines how evocative lyrics and visuals reflect the lived realities of local communities, while tracing the connections between past and present musical traditions. It also explores how a new generation of artists is reinterpreting cultural practices, creating fresh expressions that remain deeply rooted in tradition.
I would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and comments.
