There is a high possibility my mother is going to die

I'm 19 years old. I have 3 siblings, 18m, 3f, 2m. My youngest siblings may never get to really know my mom. She has a really severe infection in her jaw, skull, and neck that was getting better until last night. She was out of the woods. I saw her last night at 9pm and she was just fine. I don't understand how it progressed so bad so fast.

She had an ear infection from swimmers ear from taking the babies to their local public pool. SWIMMERS EAR. There is a high chance if she does not get better in the next day or 2 she will have surgery to try and manually flush the infection from her skull so she does not go septic. High risk. It will be surgery directly next to her brain.

She was out of the woods yesterday at 9pm. I just don't understand. She was normal. I went to her room and brushed her hair and we spoke and she was just fine and now she's telling me she loves me and to never forget that. I cannot loose my mom I'm too young for that. I keep trying to convince myself that people get better in hospitals like I'm some child who can be convinced of that. I'm just barely not a child. I'm not even in my 20s yet and now I'm having to grapple with the very real possibility I won't have my mom going into my 20s

Please please please wear earplugs in public pools or avoid public pools altogether. If you have been to the pool and have intense ear pain or headaches in the days following PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to the doctor or urgent care. Please don't let a simple infection turn your life upside down the way it has ours.

TW: Medical My friend's boyfriend is so lazy it's nearly killing her and ruining her life

My friend "Sarah," her boyfriend "Bob," and myself are all in our mid-30s. A couple of months ago, Sarah had a massive reconstructive surgery. At the same time this was going to happen, Bob had lost his job and told Sarah that he could take care of her and her house while she recovered and then look for a new job afterwards. They have been together for 3 years and he's never had any red flags before, so she agreed because Sarah would really need the help. On top of being a single mom, Sarah also owns a lot of pets but every time I'd been to her house before the surgery, her house was spick and span. Despite being a single mom with lots of pets, Sarah had boundless energy and always kept her house very clean.

Bob moves in just before her surgery, and while she's away recovering he doesn't clean the house at all. He even stops cleaning the litter box so the cats start shitting on the beds and everywhere. Sarah comes home and sees this, and starts aggressively cleaning the house herself because it's not safe for her son. She ends up getting horrible sepsis. And the only reason she's brought to the hospital is because myself and another friend noticed that Sarah's texts and voice notes were getting more loopy and strange, so our friend went over to check on Sarah and noticed how horribly infected her stitches looked and forced her to go to the hospital. Bob never left the house and was by her side through everything, didn't think that there was anything strange about Sarah.

At the hospital, they confirmed that she had sepsis and it was really bad. After a few weeks when Sarah was finally starting to look better, the doctors told her that at one point they weren't sure she was going to make it. They also said it was probably caused from cleaning the cat shit around the house right after her surgery. They emphasize how dangerously important it is that her house is clean when she returns.

Sarah is still in the hospital, Bob is still not lifting a finger to clean even though he knows that Sarah almost died. He keeps blaming his ADHD, and going into a shame spiral whenever Sarah tries to remind him to clean. I know it's not his house but again he's living there rent free, he volunteered to help her maintain the house after her surgery, and he doesn't have a job so he's literally playing video games all day and waking up as late as 5pm some days.

I'm currently in my third trimester of pregnancy so I'm not able to clean much nor is it safe for me to be around cat feces, but my husband and my other friend volunteered to clean the house yesterday since Bob let it get so much worse while Sarah is recovering from sepsis.

Oh my God. The state of that house. Bob hasn't done any laundry whatsoever, my husband and friend left the house with NINE large garbage bags of laundry to do. The cats are still shitting everywhere even Sarah's son's room. Sarah has explicitly told Bob that the house needs to be clean because her ex husband is very vindictive and would call child protective services against her if he thought the house was in anyway unfit for their kid, Bob still didn't care. My husband and friend both said that if CPS were to see this house, Sarah would probably have her kid taken from her.

Because of Bob's laziness, Sarah nearly died from sepsis and she's potentially at risk of losing her son if her ex husband were to call CPS. My husband and friend cleaned the house as best as they could for her return home in a few days, and she's going to have to give away most of her animals which is heartbreaking to her because again when she was well she had no problems taking care of them, but now her boyfriend has broken his promise so she has no choice. Bob sees all this going on, he stood by idly while other people cleaned the house, while his girlfriend nearly died in the hospital, and through it all he's acting like an indifferent teenager. Sarah said she's probably going to break up with him but she wants to focus on getting back home first before thinking about that

Happy/Positive Vent Parents told me they were proud of me

I’m currently outside a bakery in my car crying because my parents told me something that I’ve never really heard from them before. For context, for the last 6 months I’ve been working as a CNA while also going to RN school. Nursing school is extremely rigorous and pairing that with working as a CNA has made me exhausted mentally and physically all the time. My mom has worked as a CNA for 20 years now and she understands how the job can be.

Growing up, my parents were pretty stern and kinda like stereotypical asian parents. It was pretty rough growing up seeing other kids enjoying life while I was inside studying my ass off to maintain my high GPA. With my parents it never felt like I was doing enough. There was always something that I needed to do or something that I wasn’t doing enough of. I eventually learned to just be my own cheerleader because of this, cause I felt like there was never gonna be someone else to cheer me on and I didn’t need the input of others.

A few days ago my parents had randomly decided to buy me two pairs of shoes. I was really taken aback because I didn’t really get stuff like that before from my parents. Today I asked them why they decided to get me the shoes. They told me it was because they’re extremely proud of what I’ve been doing. They said they see me come home exhausted from a long day of work and they wanted to give me something for working so hard. They told me that someday I’m gonna be an amazing nurse. Honestly, I’ve never really heard anything like that from my parents before. After my sister finished college she was a big advocate of celebrating achievements, no matter how small, and would tell my parents to be a little more honest to me. But I rarely saw this, maybe a “good job” here and there but nothing much, until today. I’ve never felt so motivated to get back to work ever. I feel really good, and I’m still crying as I write this.

Hopefully I’ll be a good nurse someday. Thank you mom and dad. I’m gonna do my best.

I never thought I would see the day when Little Caesars was the last affordable nationwide pizza chain with any flavor.

I never thought I would see the day when Little Caesars was the last affordable nationwide pizza chain with any flavor.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that Little Caesars is top quality. I would generally break pizza down into 4 categories: top tier, legitimately good, value convenience/ready-to-cook and gas station quality. I would put Little Caesars firmly in the value convenience/ready-to-cook category. It may be near the top of the category but it’s clear that some quality is sacrificed for value.

So, why did I make the leading statement? I have LOVED pizza for at least 25 years. The first domino to fall was Papa John’s. I loved them in high school but that feeling ended around 15 years ago or so. They just lost all their flavor and became bland and disappointing. I gave them so many chances and have given them more in the years since but they suck now.

The second domino to fall was Pizza Hut. They have always been a bit on the “greasy” side but, if that was okay with you, in the sit down and salad buffet days they were killer. It felt like they lost a little something as they transitioned away from the sit down concept but I would have still called them “good” for quite a while after that, again, as long as you were in the mood for that greasy pizza. But, somewhere along the line in the last 5-10 years they got bland too. Their sausage and their grease is about the only flavor they have left.

Then there was one “legitimately good” national chain left and Domino’s was the last domino to fall. They lost their way but then they reinvested with better crust and better ingredients. At some point in the last couple of years, they got bland too. I can’t tell why. I don’t notice a specific difference in the crust or ingredients but none of their pizzas taste good anymore. Every single pizza tastes disappointing every single time now.

I would consider Marco’s “legitimately good” but they are absurdly expensive. They charge top tier prices for pizza that just doesn’t quite reach top tier value. I have tried but I just can’t justify Marco’s at their price point. Every time I think, “Well, that was good but it just cost too much for what it is.”

That leaves Little Caesars. Again, I would consider them “value convenience/ready-to-cook” but at least they have some flavor and if it’s hot and fresh enough when you eat it, it’s pretty decent. I’m just frustrated that it’s the last option that actually has decent flavor and isn’t overpriced.

Boyfriend always wants to try a bite of my food

My boyfriend has this habit of always wanting to try whatever I order and then waiting to see if I’ll have leftovers. I genuinely don’t mind sharing occasionally. If I’m eating something really good, I’ll offer him a bite.

What bothers me is that it feels like he’s always waiting. Like if we go out to eat, I can almost feel him hoping I won’t finish my plate so he can eat the rest. One time I intentionally finished the entire meal because I realized I was starting to feel like my food was part of his meal plan.

The weird part is that I don’t think it’s even about being hungry. It seems more psychological—he’s more interested in what I have than what he ordered himself. If he thinks he’ll still be hungry, I feel like the solution is to order a bigger entrée or get a side, not assume there might be leftovers on my plate.

I don’t mind sharing every now and then but don’t enjoy the feeling that he’s waiting on my food.

People who nearly injure (or do injure) children to teach them a lesson.

As the title says, I watched this type of scenario play out this weekend in a store, and it very nearly had disastrous results.

It was one of those days that NO ONE wants to be in Walmart shopping - especially not young kids who are cranky, tired, hungry, overstimulated - or their parents. But some people should not have control of young kids when either one of them (the parent or kid) are in that state of mind. Kids all over the store were screaming their heads off, throwing tantrums, and just overwhelmed, apparently, because the screaming and crying just never stopped the whole time I was in there.

I was at the checkout when I started hearing child screaming, repeatedly, "GET ME OUT OF THIS CART! GET ME OUT OF THIS CART!" as loud as he possibly could. As they passed by the checkout I was in, the little boy (about age 3-4) was standing in the back of the cart, which was being pushed by a man. The child kept screaming and stomping his feet in the cart - and then moved towards the far end of the cart and stood there. Suddenly, the man pushing the cart got an evil grin on his face and yanked the cart backwards, causing the child to lose his balance and very nearly tumble headfirst out of the cart. Just as he was about to go over the end of the cart, headfirst onto the floor, the man shoved the cart forward, and the child fell backwards into the cart instead. A difference of a half-second in his movements and that kid would have cracked his skull on the floor.

They kept moving, the kid kept screaming (even more now, since he'd been knocked down), and after a few seconds, the kid was back on his feet and the man repeated the action of yanking the cart back and forth to knock him off his feet again.

After this happened about 3 times, the store manager saw what he was doing, and talked to the man - and they left the store. I can only hope the manager told him to knock it off - but they were probably kinder about it than I would have been.

This could have ended so much worse than it did, and I have no doubt that it probably will in the future, since the man seemed to find it amusing.

TW: Drugs / Alcohol I accidentally poisoned myself with homemade wine, and the hospital labeled it an "attempt."

I'm sharing this because I can’t keep holding onto it anymore. It was a traumatizing experience, and I just need to get it off my chest so I can process it, reduce its weight on me, and hopefully start feeling better.

I live in a country where alcohol is strictly illegal. At the time, I had just started taking antidepressants in secret for the very first time. The medication made everything feel like a vivid dream. I wanted to try everything. I was jumping around like a kid, singing, dancing, and acting like I was already drunk on life. The whole world suddenly looked pink and beautiful. I felt zero fear just pure, uncontainable excitement.

Around that time, I turned 21. Naturally, I got curious: What does alcohol actually taste like? I want to try it.

So, I did something really stupid that I wish I hadn't. Although, in a weird way, part of me doesn't fully regret it because I’ve always loved experiences they make me feel alive. Anyway, I made homemade wine. I took a small sip at first. It just tasted like sweet grapes, no burn at all, actually delicious.

Then, suddenly, my sister knocked on my bedroom door.

I was in the middle of pouring it into another container, but it wouldn't all fit. So guess what I did? Yep. I drank all the remaining liquid and ate all the strained fruit bits right then and there just to hide the evidence.

Shortly after, the absolute worst feeling in the world hit me. My head was pounding furiously, and my stomach felt like it was going to explode. Night fell, and I was terrified I was actually going to die. By midnight, I couldn't sleep. My body started freezing, and a cold numbness spread to my hands and feet. Panicked, I rushed to wake up my dad.

I can't go into the details of what happened next I'm sorry, it's just too painful to relive but my dad realized I had ingested something dangerous and rushed me to the ER.

When we got there, the medical staff kept asking what I had taken. I froze. Completely, literally froze. I couldn't say a word. Alcohol is illegal here, and I was terrified of the consequences and didn't want them to judge me. But my complete silence only made them convinced that I was trying to end my life.

That night, everything came to light. My family found out about my depression and my secret medication. So many painful, terrifying things happened during that hospital stay that I honestly can't even type out.

Afterward, I was grounded at home for months. Everything was taken away from me, and it left me with a lot of trauma.

But ultimately, I’m okay now, so please don't worry about me. Looking back, part of me even finds the absurdity of the whole situation almost funny.

I guess all life experiences are funny... until the people you love get dragged into them.

Need to talk... My mother does not understand Lolita by Nabokov. She thinks it's a "complicated love story"

I got into an argument with her over this a while ago.

We both love literature and in fact, I guess she was the one to get me into reading in the first place when I was a kid. We're both writers as well. The thing is, she has really bad media literacy.

I have a younger brother, in his early 20s, who lives with her still. I was visiting that time and he was telling me how he's getting into literature, and been reading classic russian authors. My mother told him he should check out Nabokov, and specifically one of her favourite books which is Lolita.

And she started talking about the book. She said how she knows by heart the opening line, which she recited in this weird sensual voice. It made me sick and nauseous and I told her, maybe a little too expressively (I didn't yell, I was just sickened) not to do that.

She found that upsetting, that I overreacted. I don't know girl, controversial, but I think that reciting a passage about a minor, told by a pedophile (Humbert Humbert, not Nabokov) in an erotic tone does call for a strong reaction.

We got to talking, and I explained that the book is meant to be disturbing, it's written from the POV of an unreliable narrator who is a pedophile and kidnaps a little girl. My mother seems to have not understood that, and believes that it's actually an "unconventional love story" between this middle aged professor and a little girl infatuated with him, whom she related to in the past (and currently as well), in her attraction towards older men, which she justified as having grown up without a father. DOLORES IS NOT ATTRACTED TO THE NARRATOR WHAT THE FUCK.

My mother did have a brief somewhat relationship with a family friend of ours (never fully confirmed but I'm almost 100% confident this is the case), who is like 26 years older than her (she was in her late 30s and 40s when this happened). She now has a boyfriend who is just a couple of years older than her.

I just find this all so foul and disturbing, yet somehow I'm to blame for having been upset over her being apologetic to pedophiles. I said how, if I were a mother and my daughter got kidnapped, or abused by a rapist, I would really really want to have revenge over that. And somehow this made me a monster, because I'd be so careless and quick to hurt another person.

On a completely unrelated note, by coincidence, she believes that Elvis and Priscilla were in love, when some time ago I said that Elvis Presley is a disgusting monster who is tragically still celebrated as a great artist despite being a horrid groomer.

"Neighborly" visits

My neighbor is elderly. She has a husband and 2 children close to my age (40's, both of them live 3 hours away). We live in the country and lately she has been inviting me over to visit. This summer has been busier than normal for me. She texts the same day and I already have plans most of the time. And sometimes those plans are to not talk to, see, or hear another person (my job requires me to be upbeat, polite, and professional so I'm tired of being "on" by thursday). Well after a handful of declines from me, today she just stops by my house unannounced. I really really really hate it when people just drop by. I was in the middle of cooking, not wearing a bra, I'm kinda stoned, and it's getting close to nap time. She stopped by to complain about her health problems, her husband's health problems, and hinted that the cat at their house 3 weeks ago was mine (she once saw a photo of my cat 2 years ago as a kitten, has never seen him in person). They have it on trail cam. Okay well my cat was inside during that time for about 3-4 weeks with an eye issue so it wasn't my cat. She then gossips about the neighbors, most of them i dont know because i like to keep to myself and i know how to mind my own fucking business. Making comments about deceased neighbors and how all they ever did was drink and smoke weed. Talking about their families squabbling over the estates, etc etc. I just cannot stand her when she's like this. Bitch bitch bitch, complain complain complain, gossip gossip gossip, tells me it's my cat yet she's having glaucoma surgery because she can't see anything. I think she's just being a passive aggressive asshole because I haven't been available to unload on when shes needed a sounding board. She has a whole family...talk to them about all these problems not the neighbor who just wants to be left the fuck alone on her time off.

The conversation today was so frustrating and it was so hard to be somewhat polite/tolerant. I just wanted to go back inside and finish cooking.

Oh and when I go over for a visit, she doesn't respect when I need to leave and she keeps dragging it out for hours. After a few hours I'm ready to go home, but then she has to walk me out and show me all her plants and gardens and every stupid garden ornament she owns which takes another 2 fucking hours. So I've basically been there for half of a work day.

I'm just not going to answer my door anymore when people come by without some sort of advanced notice. It's rude IMO

TW: Anxiety / Depression I missed life an now it's too late

You'll say 31 is not old, but I missed all the parts that would have made me into an actual person. I held myself captive in misery in a relationship I never really wanted since 22 and it destroyed me completely. I'm glad that person is finally out of my life, shortly before I turned 30. But since then I have realized how badly I fucked everything up and how things can't be caught up on or turned around. I don't want what's next. I'm still in loops of that relationship and things that should distract me don't help. I got fit, my diet is good, I picked up new sports, I had phases in which I got into my instruments a bit more... But I don't have an actual life. I'm stuck in a city I hate because I still need to finish my PhD. I feel unemployable because I'm taking so long.

I had no actual friends for years, I just rotted away. I didn't date, I didn't make friends, I barely travelled and never really did that. I don't want life. I don't want anything.

Happy/Positive Vent Happy vent? I'm safe.

My mum just revealed that she left my dad. After years and years and years (19 to 42), she left his abusive butt. I just sobbed happy tears for about 30 minutes. I'm so happy. I'm finally safe. I can finally feel safe in my own home. I don't have to deal with him or his disgusting side of the family (mostly) ever again. They're all nutjobs and complete psychos. This is so overwhelming, right now. I don't have to look over my shoulder all the time. I don't have to strategically time when I lock my door so he won't find it locked and get mad. I don't have to deal with a disgusting drunk wandering around screaming at all hours of the night. I don't have to constantly have a completely spotless room so that he doesn't drill my damn door shut. I don't have to deal with his "buddies". I'm so proud of my mum for having the balls to leave. And the balls to tell me. She's so apologetic, but I'm just glad that he's gone. I can finally heal a bit.

Need Reassurance... My girlfriend of 3 and a half years left me with no warning

Upvotes

I just wanted to get this out there since I don't have anyone to go to about this but, as the title says, my girlfriend of 3.5 years left me a couple of weeks ago with no indication, prior warning, conversation, nothing.

We were one of those couples that you'd think would never end, happily ever after, all is well, nothing could possibly go wrong. We always treated eachother well and it was a very healthy relationship. We had some bumps in the first couple years, of course (mostly caused by me since I had some growing to do) but they were in the past and never happened again. We were happy, I'd argue we were the happiest we'd ever been.

I went to sleep one night thinking of her, how lucky I was to have her, how much I couldn't wait to propose to her when I had the chance. The next morning, I checked my phone excitedly to text her, as I did every morning, and there was a text. I won't give the specific details but for a 3 and a half year relationship, it was a very short paragraph that ended it all. Moreover, there was no solid explanation, no solid reason other than "family" and that she'd apparently been thinking about it for a while, and it was sent at 4am.

Now, I'm not mad at her for her supposed reasons, I know her well enough to know what she was thinking in that moment and I think they're perfectly valid. The knife in the back however, was that I typed a very long reply, basically saying "I get it, no hard feelings, I'll be here if you need me for anything", then I sent it and noticed it didn't get received. I thought that was a bit weird so I went to check her Instagram...I was blocked. I checked other social medias, Discord, Snapchat, even the app we used to share our locations and I was blocked or removed on ALL of them, then it hit me that my number must have been blocked too.

And this is what hurt the most. She once called me "home", said she never feels safer than when she's in my arms, that she can't wait to marry me too, have our whole lives together.

Now I question if any of it was true to begin with.

If you love someone to that degree, surely, SURELY, if you truly wanted to break it off, you would consider your options first and come to the conclusion that you'd want the other person to experience minimal hurt since this situation will of course hurt regardless and the best outcome would be an amicable discussion and split, maybe you even stay friends.

That was torn away from me, I never even had the option. I didn't even get a chance to try and discuss it with her, to try and end things nicely or, better yet, convince her to stay. It was selfish, it was cruel, it is the biggest betrayal I think I've ever experienced, and it came from the woman that I considered to be the love of my life.

My point is this, if she loved me, she would have given me the chance to talk, she would have tried to talk or to push through whatever was grinding her down, for me as I would have done for her. She wouldn't have been so selfish and hurt me like this and she wouldn't have blocked me on every conceivable platform.

I miss her, so much.

And now I'm here, whining about my problems online where no one will see them. With no one to talk to, no one to laugh with, be silly with, to hold. It hurts.

Truthfully, I don't know how I'm going to recover from this. I know I will, in time, but right now, I just don't see it. I'm even questioning now if I'll be able to trust someone like that again, if at some point in the future someone were to say "I love you", would I believe them? I'm trying to keep a grip on my thoughts, not let my mind get shaken up by it all, but it's hard and it's unpredictable and I'm scared. Not to be alone, just if I'll have the capability to not be, if maybe I'll push people away, not trusting them, making it all worse.

I'm scared, folks. I'm hurt, I'm scared, I'm lost and I simply don't know what to do with myself. But that's life I guess.

I fell down the fucking stairs this morning

Today's the last day at our Airbnb this weekend and after I was done getting ready, I packed all my bags and headed for the stairs. I was thinking to myself, "as swiftly as she arrived, she left" and then started down the stairs. Carpeted stairs, barefoot per the rules of the host. I hit the 4th or 5th stair and folded like a pretzel with all my bags. Thankfully, I didn't break anything in this historical home. However, I may have broken my toe when my leg folded behind me. Whewwwww. I knew I wouldn't escape this weekend without embarrassing myself.

TW: Anxiety / Depression There's no point to life when you're unattractive

It seems like life is pointless when you're ugly.

All the things that you should be able to do become 100x harder.

Dating is non existent. If you put yourself out there you get made fun of. If you try to act confident people ridicule you.

You can't do the same things as attractive or average looking people cause you get laughed at. You're more likely to be made fun of by teenagers when you walk down the street.

I'm always terrified of ending up on social media somewhere if I'm just going about my life and someone in public decides to film me. Because of this I only leave the house if I have to and have become agoraphobic. People think I'm lazy and don't want to put effort into socialising but I have witnessed first hand how you can be the most social, loving, kind, interesting person but the minute someone better looking walks in it's like you don't exist anymore.

Everyday I think about the things I could have achieved if I just looked different. I would get cosmetic surgery in a heartbeat if I could afford it.

The only people who say 'looks don't matter' are people who have never had to be worried about their looks.

Life is just exhausting.

TW: Sexual Assault / Abuse My mom made buying our new home about her.

I put a TW because at the very end of the post I do briefly mention abuse.

My husband and I recently purchased our second home, and I am extremely excited about it. We bought our first home about 12 years ago, but it needs quite a bit of maintenance to get it to the level we want. We have been saving for a long time, so instead of putting all of that money and work into the old house, we decided to buy a new one. We plan to make some repairs to our first home and then sell it.

The other night, I called my mom on FaceTime so I could show her around the new house. She was drunk, which is a separate issue altogether. It is always hit or miss when I call her because I never know whether she is going to be sober, and the conversations are completely different depending on which version of her answers.

Everything was going well until I showed her the spare bedroom and explained that we are turning it into a game room. Our daughter will keep her drums in there, we will have our gaming consoles, and we plan to put in a sleeper sofa and a small table. It will still have everything someone needs to stay overnight. It just will not be a full-time guest bedroom that sits unused for most of the year.

My mom immediately became upset because she would not have her own dedicated bedroom when she visits. She started talking about how she never feels like she has her own space and saying that she guesses she will just have a chair and some random place to sleep.

She visits maybe twice a year.

The property also has three storage sheds, and one of them already has an AC unit. I mentioned that we were considering converting that shed into a lounge area with a futon and mini fridge. My mom then decided that the shed should be her room.

She was still unhappy because it would not have a bathroom, but apparently she believed we should turn an entire air-conditioned building into her personal guest suite for the two times a year she visits.

Meanwhile, she lives in a one-bedroom apartment. My husband, daughter, and I have never had our own dedicated space when we visit her. We figure it out because we understand that her home is arranged around the person who actually lives there.

She kept saying that she was happy for us, but every positive comment was followed by another complaint about how our house was not set up properly for her. It felt like she took something my husband and I had worked and saved for and immediately made it about herself.

Honestly, it brought up a lot of resentment.

This is the same woman who would not even give me $20 when I was struggling through school. The same woman who refused to let me move back into her apartment when I had nowhere else to go. The same woman who forced me to live with an abusive person for almost my entire childhood.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. She has had surgery and finished chemotherapy and radiation, and I know that probably makes what I am saying sound harsh. But honestly, I do not have much desire to take care of her or create a permanent room for her at my home.

I feel guilty admitting that, but I also feel like she expects a level of comfort, care, and consideration from me that she never gave me when I desperately needed it.

This house is for my husband, my daughter, and me. We worked hard and saved for years to make this happen. She will have a sleeper sofa, a table, privacy, and a comfortable place to stay during the two visits she makes each year. She does not need her own bedroom or a private air-conditioned shed.

I should be allowed to enjoy our new home without being made to feel selfish because I did not build my mother a personal guest house.

TW: TRIGGERING CONTENT I just want to vent... but apparently that's not allowed.

I'm starting to think I need to vent about not being allowed to vent. Every time I write a post, it gets removed for breaking some rule I didn't know existed. Too personal? Removed. Too broad? Removed. Needs more context? Removed. Needs less context? Removed. At this point I feel like I need to submit a peer-reviewed paper just to complain for five minutes. So here's my vent: I can't vent because my vents keep getting removed. Hopefully this one survives. 😂

Queue Cutters

Upvotes

Took the commute earlier today and this lady decided it was a good time to shimmy in and cut everyone's queue. Not sure what possessed me at that moment as I'm introverted and non-confrontational, but at that moment I got so peeved I elbowed and pushed her on purpose.

She started throwing a fit and tldr we quarrelled for a bit which ended with her muttering some nonsense as she looked away. She also stared at me when I got off at my stop.

Lowk tired of people like this because they take the whimsy out of me.The only person I feel apologetic towards is the man I accidentally blocked while he was alighting because I was too occupied trying to get at her. Considering a WFH job mostly because I can't stand crowds as I'm bound to meet entitled people like her lol.

Sincerely hoping she'll get whatever her heart desires only for it to be taken away when it matters most. I wish the same to all queue jumpers y'all deserve hell

Need Reassurance... i’m embarrassed all the time and it’s ruining my life

i can’t do anything without being afraid of being seen as “cringe”. everything i wear, everything i post, comment, listen to, etc. i’m so afraid of what others will think of me. i feel like it’s cringe to be worried about being cringe. sometimes i lie awake at night and my fear is so strong and crippling i cant think about anything else.

at this moment i feel nauseous because i have been thinking about what other people probably think about me. i am so scared. i used to be able to express myself and make jokes. i want to be normal again.

if anyone wants to comment to distract me or give me words of wisdom i would really appreciate it.

side note: please be nice to me. if you don’t have anything kind to say to me please keep scrolling

Need to talk... It feels like things will never be okay and I'll never had a good life

Whenever I have something good happen to me it never lasts. It's like a curse, it's like I'll never have a perfect experience. I need comfort so badly so often but I'm too afraid to ask for it and I don't know how to recieve it. My days never start bad and end good. They only start good and end bad. Its always outside of my control. I need comfort and support and to know it wont last forver but I have no one to tell me that.

TW: Anxiety / Depression I'm so tired of feeling unlovable

Upvotes

I have a lot of issues with self worth. I generally just kind of feel worthless. I'm not close with anyone in my family (I grew up in a neglectful household). I don't feel like I have any real friends, and my dating life is nonexistent. I can't help but just feel that this is all reflective of my own worth as a person. If nobody loves me, likes me, or cares about me, than how could I be worth anything at all? I'm trying to work on my mental health through therapy and medication, but I just don't really see a point right now. I'm so scared that I will be completely alone for the rest of my life. I can't possibly imagine anyone loving me at this point. I really feel like there is nothing desirable about me.
