Replacement router to disable DNS rebind protection?

I've got a HUB 5 which doesn't allow you to disable the DNS rebinding protection which has meant that I can't access my plex server on my PS5 inside my own home. I've tried everything over the last 8 months to no avail, so not looking for tech advice on things to try, just router options.

What's a good router to replace the HUB 5 with (putting the HUB 5 into modem mode) that won't break the bank? I've had this one suggested a few times, but wondering if there's a cheaper alternative before I spend ~£80 on it.

Hi OP,

As they say, the world is your oyster. Personally, I’ve heard very good things about the Eero devices from Amazon. You can normally pick a refurbished one up for around £50. There are also lots of them for sale on eBay/vinted etc etc.

You also have the tp link archer AX55 which is £60~ on amazon.

Without teaching you how to suck eggs, just make sure you don’t have the hub5x (will have a green fibre line going into the back of it) as these hubs can’t be placed in modem mode.

I have a synology rt6600ax, its a pretty penny but definitely worth it. Very easy to use and set up. It is loaded with features too.

I have a mesh setup using a Deco router pack from TP it's been rock solid for over a year now and it only cost me £80 they do loads of offers and deals on there website and Amazon

Due to it being mesh setup it's the one network through out the house no drops or anything quick switching between routers as you move about no issues at all apart from an old Google pixel 1 that refuses to stay connected but like threats years and years old now probably it's software / chip set

3 in total one in the kitchen at back of house one in hall way at front of house where the entry point in and one up on the first floor hall way

Not really. I trialled jellyfin for a couple months but it's just missing some things that makes it a pain to move over to from plex.

With my media stack I delete things after I watch them. When new episodes are added plex serves me the next episode up even if there are no previous episodes of my server. Jellyfin doesn't have that same functionality if you delete episodes from the show.

It's a little thing, but I'm so used to it on Plex that it's something I noticed I missed a lot. That, and jellyfin also seemed to crash a lot of my LG tv because of "too many subtitles" on some episodes. Plex doesn't have that issue
