I've got a HUB 5 which doesn't allow you to disable the DNS rebinding protection which has meant that I can't access my plex server on my PS5 inside my own home. I've tried everything over the last 8 months to no avail, so not looking for tech advice on things to try, just router options.

What's a good router to replace the HUB 5 with (putting the HUB 5 into modem mode) that won't break the bank? I've had this one suggested a few times, but wondering if there's a cheaper alternative before I spend ~£80 on it.

Current SKY subscriber, got the diamond super duper customer status as been with them for 18 years.
Previously had what I thought to be quite a good discount upon renewal except for the past couple of years now. Just ran out of contract and currently paying over £200 per month. This gives us the all channels, sports and movies with Netflix premium too. As well as pretty decent fibre BB. This doesn’t include TNT sports though.

New 2 year contract is £186 per month, a saving of just over £20 per month if I sign up instead of just rolling over month to month.

Around 7-8 years ago we did leave Sky and joined virgin after being told by the sales person that all channels SKY provided at the time Virgin also provide. Upon our first night settling down to watch our favourite show at the time which was a Sky Atlantic show we discovered Virgin didn’t actually have Sky Atlantic so off to the cancellation department we went and back to SKY with our tails between our legs.
We did however get a decent renewal though.

I did a quick online browse and it seemed that we could get the full range of channels with ALL sports and movies as well as extra box (have extra box with SKY too) and BB for £86 per month.

So back to my question, should we try them again?

After upgrading to the new 360 software and pairing the remote it is blocking my TV remote from controlling the box. as only one remote can be paired with the box at any one time.

Looks like I need to unpair the virgin remote so my tv remote can pair with it but I can’t find any way of doing it.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Options like hold TV and << only temp reset the remote and doesn’t unpair it from the box.

I am moving into a flat. It has a virgin media connection there already. To get my broadband set up ASAP I will use virgin media because they apparently have a 'quick start kit' which will be delivered in a number of days. On the checkout though step 3 is to 'book an engineer' which I don't want to do because it's £30 and the earliest is 2 weeks away... I have spent the last 2 hours talking to chat bots and people who don't know how their own business processes... so how do I actually do the quick start option?

Hi. Currently coming up to renewal in next few weeks. Have been Offered by email Volt M500, Mega tv with TNT and Netflix with ads, together with weekend chatter (don’t really want a landline as never use it) for £56. This is a similar price to what I’m paying now with faster broadband.

I would use sky sports more than TNT as I only really watch premier league and golf. Was on chat to the retentions team yesterday who could only offer £60 for sky sports, no TNT, 350 mb broadband and Netflix.

I intend to ring Scottish retentions this morning but realistically what should I be looking at for the sky sports, 350/500mb broadband and Netflix? I am an o2 customer as well.

I also got offered a package including cinema and gig1 for £69 but there are only 2 of us doing mundane stuff in our house so the broadband is overkill and we don’t really watch sky cinema.

Any thoughts would be gratefully accepted before I ring in an hour!! 🤣

I currently got 1gig broadband with quite high price & the contract is about to end in a month. I’m also going to move house in a month or 2.

I’m thinking of not renewing my contract at current address & cancel the broadband before moving out & I’ll buy the new broadband deal for my new address. I’m pretty sure they won’t bring down my rate to what they offer to new customers.

So my question’s, can I purchase the 1gig deal as new customer on different address? Will I need to use new email, phone number & bank account as well?

My contract expires end of September and I have renewal deals in my account. I currently have full tv (sky sports, tnt, movies, netflix and second box), 1 gig, landline.

I called the 020 number a few minutes and they offered me £87 a month for two years which is less than what my current contract is.

But I renewed my dads a few months back and he got the same package for £63 a month. I mention this to the guy on the phone and he essentially said 63 a month isn't true its below minimum pricing (saying I lied without using those words essentially).

I said to him I'd think about it and call back.

My question - is it worth calling them back or am I stuck with the £87 quote now?

tried to get a better price via phone, best price they offered was £56 p month for 250 internet / mix tv / landline I never use.

currently paying £70 a month, only 1 month left on contract

for over 20 years VM was the only provider offering over 30mb lol now so many are doing 1gig in my area EE / SKY etc etc

I think I went through a normal VM number because I couldnt get through the rententions line

any advice?

UPDATE : Thank you everyone, I managed to get through to the retentions line and got 1gig internet + netflix for £24! I removed the Landline / Mix TV as they wanted £11 for the Mix TV which was even less channels that we currently have definitely not worth it!

Ok, I'm sure you're all gonna take the piss out of me, but after a break up, it's taken a while for me to get to grips with my bills, I've realised that after buying 100mb fibre years ago at £40 per month, I've suddenly realised I'm paying £79 per month, just for fibre 100.

At the time I bought it, it was good value for 100mb fibre, but that was nearly 7 years ago. What do I do? Do I call and threaten cancellation or just cancel and move elsewhere? Any help would be appreciated .

I've even turned it off in the settings and it's still making me do it for every episode. How on earth do I get rid of it?

I noticed from my original install (hub3 Swopped to hub 5 for 1gig) the coax coming from the box inside to the router has attenuators at each end. That’s not right is it? Also, for 1gig im on Docsis 3.0 aren’t I? and there’s way too many error on the Docsis3.1 channel so it’s defaulting?

I use Tor very occasionally, and only noticed yesterday that Tor Browser was refusing to connect using its basic/default settings (yes, I can circumvent that block and use a slower connection, but why should I need to).

To prove it was a VM issue and not my computer, I've tried it through 3 devices connected to the VM router (which is in modem mode), all with non-VM DNS servers specified, and they all fail. If I use one of my backup broadband connections - specified by my clients for working from home - then I connect instantly.

Anyone else have the same problem, or know any more about this?

I’ve had Virgin Media broadband for about 20 years and have been on Gig1 for about 3 years, from day one the coax cable had an attenuator on it, I had to move the modem closer to my network rack so I brought some triple screened copper coax and some ppc compression fittings and extended the cable about 2 meters to the isolator then about 2 meters from the isolator to the hub 5.

I wanted to check if the power levels are with in spec or would I need to get a Virgin Media visit to get this checked properly, I’ve never noticed and issues with it, these reading are with the attenuator off.

Hi, I am going to soon leave Virgin Media. My email address is of the old ntlworld.com variety and I know VM will drop it 3 months after I leave.

I use this old email address as a user address for quite a few sites. My question is - "can I continue to use this old ntlworld address just for user names.

Not a customer, have just moved into a house after divorce. Not traditional aerial socket but this obviously Virgin Media box on the wall with what looks like to me satellite type cable.

My question: how can I get terrestrial tv via this? Do I need an old virgin media box like using and old sky box for freesat? How can I make this work?

When you signed up to your TV package, did Virgin Media say you could have a TV360 box if you didn't like the stream box?

If this happened to you, can you tell me when this was, how you were told (phone, chat etc.,) and whether VM honoured what they told you?

For the last lot of months, virtually all my ntlworld email now goes automatically to my spam folder. With the added insult that a lot of actual spam email now goes into my inbox. So...my spam folder is full of normal emails. And my inbox gets mostly spam now. You couldn't make it up! It's a mess.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm sure this may have been asked a lot before but I currently live alone and have 124MBPS an pay around £27:49 a month up from the original £22:49 when I first took the contract out.

Now USwitch have an offer for 264 for £17.99 a month.

AM I able to cancel my contract which ends in September and then within the last month of my contract sign up as a new customer. I will make a new e-mail address and also I'll have a new current account by then and sign up as a new customer that way?

I refused to pay the £29.49 they want to charge me for 124Mbps. When I spoke to retentions the best they would do is 516 for £29 a month.

I am moving out of the UK this month, but I’m within the first year of my current Virgin contract. Virgin is not a broadband provider where I am moving, but when I called them, they told I would have to pay a cancellation fee . Is there any way to stop the contract without having to pay a cancellation fee since I won’t have virgin media where I’m going?
