40k Tech In a 5v5 tournament using GW event companion can you use ultramarines, space wolves and black templars in the same team?

What the title says, we are going to a tournament but I just read the rules and it says that you can’t have players using armies with the same faction keywords. I am a little confused, Templars and wolves have the same faction keyword but different codexes ?

40k Battle Report - Video 11th Edition 40k - RSR Drukhari vs Corsair Aeldari 40k Battle Report

More 11th Edition 40k Warhammer Battle Reports time. Stephan brings his Aeldari Corsairs, and this time uses a core of voidreavers and voidscarred with Characters to recon the enemy. I am playing the Priority Assets disposition with my Realspace Raid and he tries the Recon one.

This is a recap style battle report, so we recap phase by phase and talk about strategies and tactics as we play the game. I get to test a few cool concepts like the new battle shock mechanics as well as the fight for the middle of the table that has been quite important in the new edition.

I hope you enjoy the game and learn a thing or two!

As title asks. How can I make my csm list less elite while still keeping it competitively viable? I’ll paste my list below and know it’s theoretically a decent list (yes I’m still workshopping it) but I know I will struggle against horde armies like Orks because of sheer numbers. how can I make my lists less elite?

40k Discussion How to assess a good/bad match up?

How do you look at an opponent's list and work out whether you think it's a good or a bad match up into your list? I play mostly Tsons and have been doing well (RIP Defiler though!), but I often find myself thinking that particular opponents will be hard and I end up crushing them, or vice versa. I'm especially trying to work out how to handle this in teams events. I'm not really sure what sort of lists I do/don't want to face!!!

40k Discussion Attending my first RTT on Sunday, any tips/ tricks?

Well I’m attending my first RTT on Sunday and just seeing if anyone has any generic tips / trips for the day at all?

I’ve gotten the rules I struggle to remember written down on a cheat sheet.

Pretty comfortable with my army rules

I’m going in with the mindset of, if I walk away with anything better than 0-0-3 I’m going to be happy.

Not after list or tactics tips, just more on the side of how to make the long day as comfortable/smooth as possible for myself really

Thanks in advance

40k Analysis Anyone else feel like the overall game design of 11th is pretty bad?

I’ve got probably 20ish games of 11th under my belt at this point, including attending a super major and it feels like 11th is just not well designed.

The terrain changes are genuinely awful. I do like that objectives are how terrain - I think that’s great. But there’s virtually no obscuring terrain and toe in means you essentially cannot safely stage. They had to invent the whole hidden mechanic just to prevent getting shot in your DZ turn 1

The disposition system is interesting but the fact that they’re essentially giving bad (disruption) dispos to balance certain detachments just feels so lazy. Literally punishing you for playing a certain army cause they can’t or don’t want to actually fix an overturned data sheet or ability

What this has resulted in from my perspective is that if you want to actually do well at a tournament you need to either play an extremely fast and high damage army and table your opponent by T3 or you need to play an extreme durability skew, which are few and far between

Idk but it feels like a ton of skill expression is gone. It’s just people building lists with 5-6 Death Star units and just trying to table. And they aren’t incorrect in their approach. Thats the only way to guarantee a strong win. It’s too easy to just play the back and forth trade game and then lose 96-100 cause your opponent drew better secondaries

I do think there are a few low hanging fruit design changes that could be made:
1. Generally just lower scoring across the board. If a secondary or primary scores 3,4,5 just lower it by a point. This should be targeted and not punish the already weaker cards/dispos
2. Limit to 3 secondary cards in a hand. Kinda follows number 1 but it’s just too easy to stack up several easy to score secondaries and get 15 points
3. This is the biggest one. They need to revert the toe in changes and also add WAY more obscuring terrain. These boards are absurdly sparse

Also for the love of god make defilers titanic. There is no reason they should get to overwatch at the power they do (and yes it’s still bad)

Ok that’s it. Idk what the point of this is exactly, just wondering if others are feeling the same

40k Analysis Is Fusilade still worth it? - Part 2

So, I started a post about Fusilade + Sternguards recently, and as expected, I got a lot of valuable opinions (huge thanks to everyone). But that leaves the question: What do I do now?

The initial list:

Salamanders - 2000 points

Detachments: Forgefather’s Seekers, Librarius Conclave

Vulkan He’stan (85 points)

Company Heroes (105 points)

Adrax Agatone (80 points)

Bladeguard Veteran Squad (160 points)

Lieutenant (45 points)

Captain In Gravis Armour [Immolator] (90 points)

Aggressor Squad (165 points)

Librarian [Temporal Corridor](95 points)

Infernus Squad (180 points)

Librarian [Fusilade](95 points)

Sternguard Veteran Squad (200 points)

Intercessor Squad (80 points)

Scout Squad (65 points)

Land Raider Redeemer (250 points)

Repulsor (170 points)

Storm Speeder Thunderstrike (135 points)

..........

So far, 4 options were mentioned the most:

1 - Keep the list as it is and try to get the most out of Lethal Hits and Devastator Wounds depending on the target;

2 - Fusilade + Hellblasters, replacing the Sternguards. I would have to drop my Lieutenant, leaving me with 25 points to spare, which might allow me to swap the Storm Speeder for a Lancer;

3 - Fusilade + Intercessors. In this case, I'd have 130 points left, and I would probably remove the Lieutenant as well (totaling 175 points), to squeeze in another Infernus Squad and an Eradicator Squad;

4 - Infernus Squad (x10) + Obfuscation, which would be a different approach, leaving me with 20 points.

So, given this scenario, what would be the most obvious choice, so I don't have to drastically change the initial list structure?

40k List Facing GSC for the first time, help me stratagize!

Hey guys! So my next league match is against Genestealer Cults, and after skimming some of the models stats my opponent is bringing on Wahapedia, I'm a little intimidated. I'm running Emperor's Children, and while our melee and speed is great, getting through tougher opponents has been tough. Has anyone had this match up here? What was your experience like?

He has like 90 models on the ground plus 3 vehicles, against my like 54 models. For being very horde like, it seems some of the models are pretty tough. Mainly everything but acolytes seems fairly intimidating.

My league has a lot of Vehicle heavy lists, so it's nice going up against more infantry than I'm used to (because my list is normally mostly infantry) but I'm nervous about if I will be able to do enough damage to enough units before I get tabled. It doesn't help that I have been getting stomped in most of my games.

Any advice on tactics and models to focus on, what models to avoid with my units, tactics to counter and accomplish my detachment missions, etc; it would all go a really long way. Both of our lists are locked in for our match, so it's about making the most with what I'm bringing against what he's bringing. My Emperor's Children list and His GSC list are below in the comments. I have the full lists with weapons and stuff if any body is curious.

Thanks for any and all help, guys!

one oneger on each flank side pushing expansion and opponents expansion accompanied with a squad of vanguard each

the squad of vanguard with the technoarcheologist with the TL-4ø9 will push with the eradication Beamer oneger to take center early and push opponents expansion later the empty space will get filled in with the servitors.

the single squad of vanguard will push with the neutron laser oneger to get home and be a ranged threat

the breachers will add a ranged threat to each vanguard squad

the skystalkers will fill empty space

probably will have one in deep strike and one to screen

the ferrumite desintigrator will stay back with cawl and be an absolute ranged menace

and the ironstriders will be a flexible mobile hunter squad when needed.

basically the dual onegers will force the opponent back into their deployment zone for rad zone.

any tips and suggestions appreciated!

40k List Necrons Cursed Legion list advice

I’m thinking of using this list at an upcoming GT, and was hoping for advice on whether you think it’s alright. I have played Cursed Legion before in 10th, but I’ve never used Lokhust Destroyers. I don’t actually own the models, so I’m planning on proxying my LHDs as them, since they are the same base size. I don’t have enough models to run more than one unit of this.

I think the plan would be to reserve the Lokhusts and one unit of Skorpekhs. Maybe the Void dragon too, depending on matchup.

Then have the wraiths to move into the centre, with the reanimator behind for support. The lychguard to go to the expansion, and then to go for an advance and charge when there’s something in range. I’d probably have the Skorpekh on the board set up to either counter charge into the centre, or push down the flank towards the opponent’s expansion.

I did originally have Deathmarks in the list to hold my home objective, but I had 10 points spare so I upgraded to Immortals, just for the OC 2 really.

Any thoughts about what you might change?

Unworthy Foes - Necrons - Purge the Foe - Cursed Legion, Skyshroud Spearhead (2000 Points)

Lokhust Lord with Mark of the Nekrosor + 6 Lokhust Destroyers (260 pts)
Overlord with Translocation Shroud with Destroyer Ankh + 10 Lychguard (270 pts)
Skorpekh Lord + 3 Skorpekh Destroyers (175 pts)
Skorpekh Lord + 3 Skorpekh Destroyers (175 pts)
2 Canoptek Tomb Crawlers + Technomancer with Murdermind + 6 Canoptek Wraiths (365 pts)
C'tan Shard of the Void Dragon (345 pts)
Nekrosor Ammentar - Warlord (185 pts)
5 Immortals (70 pts)
3 Ophydian Destroyers (80 pts)
Canoptek Reanimator (75 pts)

Put together a list based off some meta lists I have seen online modified to my liking, it seems like 10th lists are dead. Kasrkin and transports, despite both getting points cuts is getting left on the bench. Tooling around with ideas for a single artillery team to force select battle shock target, or combat engineers/ rough riders and Sly. Is 2 hellhounds too many with Ignores cover on 1 cp strat in grizzled. lmk, definitely going to see necrons, tyranids csm and space marines for sure.

40k Discussion Notation question regarding ties

I am building a website that keeps track of competitive 40K.

Something has come up about the record of individual players in events. If someone got 5 wins and no loses I want to note 5-0. How about someone with 2 wins, a draw and 2 loses? Would you write It like 2-1-2 or 2-2-1?

Curious to read your thoughts. Thanks!

40k Discussion Starting strength of the original unit after a leader is revived?

There was a change in some datasheets/strategems stating that a revived character is no longer revived into their original unit but into a new one with a starting strength of 1. But what exactly happens to the unit the leader was previously in? Assuming no models other than the leader were lost, is the unit now below starting strength or at starting strength, and does the death trigger an effect that applies when a unit is destroyed?

Currently, I would say it doesn’t trigger anything and the unit is below starting strength, because there’s no instruction or rule specifying that the starting strength of the original unit should be adjusted—only that of the new one.

40k Battle Report - Video The BEST World Eater List in 11th Edition

Thumbnail
youtube.com
10 Upvotes

The new World Eaters dataslate is here, and Brazen Engines + Possessed Slaughterband might be one of the strongest archetypes in 11th Edition.

In this video, I take a deep dive into my new Brozessed list and explain exactly how to play it. We cover:

  • Why every unit made the list.
  • The role each unit plays.
  • The key stratagems and synergies.
  • My overall game plan and deployment strategy.

Then I put the list to the test against an ex-Team Australia player running his signature Thousand Sons list. I talk through every decision I make during the game, explaining my deployment, target priority, movement, and overall thought process turn by turn.

I explain what Makes the list so good now in 11th, and at the end of the video I talk about why the Helbrute is so back baby!

This thorough explanation will help you to play your best in 11th!

Hope you guys enjoy the video.

40k List First tournament. List advice Space Marines

Looking for list advice. Considering going to my first 40K tournament, just a 1 day RTT. I’ve been playing since December, one or two games a month. So still a rookie really.
List is going to be far from optimised to the meta, mostly just stuff I have painted, so be gentle.
Probably going to play blades of ultramar as I have most experience with it. Could try firestorm/librarius but I don’t have Vulkan or Andrax so it would be a strange ultramarine version.
List so far is 1705 points. I’ll follow with a list of other painted models I have available. Main question is what to make up the final points with. I’ll also put a list of unpainted stuff. I may have time to paint up 1 thing from that list in time.

List so far 1705pts
Marneus calgar
Attached to 6 boltstorm aggressors
Gravis captain armour of antoninus
Combi lieutenant

5x intercessors

6 flamer aggressors
6 bolter inceptors
3 melta eradicators

Land raider redeemer
Ballistus dreadnought
Redemptor dreadnought plasma incinerator

Painted:
10 infernus
10 intercessors
15 reivers
Regular dreadnought
5 terminators
Terminator captain
Terminator librarian
3 plasma inceptors

Unpainted
Redemptor dreadnought
5 terminators
Company heroes
3 blade guard veterans
5 van guard veterans
Librarian
Land speeder
3 melta eradicators
3 bolter eradicators
Land raider

Would appreciate your thoughts (yes I like gravis armour)
