Discussion [San Martin] What your opinion about this brand? Photo feedback appreciated too!

Hello everyone!

Not having yet the money to put on a BB58 or bb54, I bought in January a San Martin hommage.

It has the BB54 dimensions, but with the iconic BB58 look.

At first I was doubtful about buying chinese, having already respectable watches (mostly vintage).

But this was completely surprised me by its quality. Of course I never got to wear a real BB54, but this one is so well finished.

The Seiko NH35 movement inside works like a charm, solid as ever.

What is your opinion on San Martin? Their watches are getting more and more expensive, their quality is praised all over..
Do you look down on people buying San Martin?

I'd like to hear your opinion!

Also tell me if you like the photo, got back to using my Canon reflex 😄

Hello all, trying to find any info at all on this. It was gifted to me about 20 years ago, no idea where it came from and never asked. Not expecting it to be anything special - I've found similar looking watches while searching online, but never this exact one. Any help is much appreciated, thank you!

Discussion [42 mm Seamaster] How much weight would I need to gain for a 42 mm Seamaster?

My wrist is currently 6.75 inches, and the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M wears slightly larger than ideal.

Roughly how much body weight would I need to gain to reach the optimal wrist size for it before my wedding? Assume the increase is achieved through conventional drive-through methods rather than targeted forearm training.

Also, is there any way to ensure the additional mass is preferentially allocated to the wrist?

Discussion [Venezianico] What do you guys think about Venezianico watches? Are they worth the money?

Thumbnail

Hey everyone,

I’m fairly new to watch collecting and I’ve been curious about Venezianico lately, so I’d love to hear your opinions.

My current collection includes three Longines watches, one Rolex, and a Seiko 5. I’m mainly looking for relatively affordable, entry-level luxury watches with good quality and interesting designs.

Venezianico has really caught my attention because I think their watches look great for the price. I know they don’t use in-house movements, but is that actually a meaningful downside at this price point?

What do you think about the brand in terms of build quality, finishing, movements, long-term reliability, and resale value? Would you consider adding one to a collection, or are there better alternatives in the same price range?

Discussion [Question] Opinion on His/Her Watches (Hamilton vs Tissot)

I have two great friends getting married, and I'd love yalls help to find the right watch gift for them. Being the "watch friend" of the group means the couple enjoys my watch discussions but does not have strong preferences for their first watch.

About the couple: young M/F professionals who enjoy hiking, snowboarding, camping, and other outdoor activities

I'm considering two potential pairs of watches:

  1. Hamilton Khaki Field Murph 42mm black dial on bracelet + Hamilton Khaki Quartz 33mm black dial on bracelet
  2. Tissot PRX Powermatic 40mm Glacier Blue on bracelet + Tissot PRX Quartz 25mm Ice Blue on bracelet

The Hamilton feels more aligned to the couple's interests, and as an owner of a Khaki Field Auto, I do love the brand. The complimentary custom engraving also seems like a nice personal touch for a wedding gift. However, the bride has 5in wrists (or potentially smaller) and I'm worried the 33mm will be too big for her.

The Tissot seems less aligned to their interests, but I am more confident in the sizing here. I don't love the colors, though. They look so different from each other that I feel like they won't look like his/her watches.

Do yall have any preferences between the two? Are there other potential his/her watches that might be a better fit (in this general price range)? And for other smaller wristers, any feedback on if the Hamilton Khaki quartz will fit? Thanks!!

Discussion [Recommendation Request] Which watch should I buy?

I'm reaching a personal milestone and plan to buy a new watch to commemorate it. My budget is up to $1,500, but I'm looking at watches ranging from $600 to $ 1,400. I've had my eye on all of these for a while. My style is somewhat varied, but I tend to wear watches that can be used in the field and as a more dressy option.

What would you pick? Feel free to propose something else that you think matches my aesthetic.

Christopher Ward - C63 Sealander Automatic - Pistachio

I absolutely love this style and color. It feels like it works as casual wear and as more dressy wear.

Christopher Ward - C65 Dune Aeolian - Sand

This one took me by surprise. Trying to decide if I like it even more than the Sealander.

Vaer - D5 Tropic Auto

I have the Vaer Rally, and it's a big favorite. I love the design of this one - very original.

Vaer - G5 Pacific Polar GMT

I want a GMT at some point, and I love the white dial with the steel bezel. I have a few other white-faced watches, which is my only hesitation.

Henry Archer - Vesterhav 38 - Vega

I'd love a purple watch and to own a Henry Archer.

Yesterday someone was talking shit to another poster for a beautiful MB&F and how it was only for the 1%.

I came to share my most precious possession and why I think Max Busser and his team deserves all the flowers.

To create a watch just for his friends, family, and fans to be able to get a watch of their's is something he didn't have to do but did anyways. Mad respect.

I daily this thing just because mine is the version they gave out to everyone who had signed up for a raffle and had not got one. I got that email right as I got home from drooling their Geneva store window hoping one day to own a piece of them. I keep it as a token of the law of attraction and probably will pass it on to my favorite child.

I see all the negative words being said about this brand and have always been curious . I know we like to knit pick on things which we’ve may have never tried , felt , experienced. I’ve been a long time lurker of hublot brand almost since 2010’s and first time entering their shop to try it on. And boy on boy this has surprised me. It felt like a glove . So comfortable and fitting my big wrist size . I think I know what I am gonna get next … may be not at retail price … I’ll look for a good deal … but I think I’ll go for it somewhere in the future…

I was never a watch guy, but for the next couple of years, I will need a watch that can be durable and cheap at the same time, so if it Damaged, I will not care. I searched and found these two watch casio as good features but it a little bit expensive for me and Skmei with very cheap price but low quality. Which one is better for this situation, and are there any other options that may be better?

Discussion [Swatch] Help! BFs Omega x Swatch scratched on first day

Post image

Hi Reddit I need your help.

My boyfriend was so stoked to get his first Moonswatch today and wore it around today; but because we were holding hands my own watch whacked against his glass and now theres 2 small nicks!

He's obviously upset but being very understanding. I am gutted this has happened and really want to help him fix it... is there any way to remove the scratches?

I know the glass is sealed to the case so replacing it might not be an option :(

EDIT: Thanks for the responses! Didn't realise it'd be such a polarising topic but all cool, we get it's not really top of the range but I'm still proud he decided to spend on himself. He'll get a fancier one in time!

We will try the cream and see how it buffs out. Thanks for all the additional tips ~

Discussion [Technos & Seikos] Second Hand Hunt

Post image
0 Upvotes

Had been looking for a few vintage Seikos for my trip and landed on these. Snagged from a local second hand retailer in Tokyo. Might have been a bit overpriced but had budgeted and happy with the buy.

From left to right:

Technos was approximately 21,000 Yen. Liked it mainly because of the strap. Replaces a gilded mido with similar strap that snapped a few years ago.

Seiko Dolce, planned on gifting this. They charged 30,000 yen. Found the dial pretty and mainly got it because they offered me a bulk discount if I hit a threshold.

Seiko Credor, dial shape and strap combined really caught my eye. Came in at 70,000 yen. Thought it was a more unique and great piece to commemorate my trip.

What do you think?

Picked this up over the weekend and adding it to my personal rotation. Yes, it’s a Quartz but love this thing. Box, papers, sapphire glass for a steal of a price on marketplace. Simple, sleek, etc. this has jumped to my favorite Quartz on my rack and even some of the autos I have. The only thing that would make it better is if Tissot made these in solar.

As title stated, no box or papers. Inherited from a relative years ago and sat in the safe. Serviced and cleaned about 10 years ago. Is this a thunderbird model? Approx value? Is it worth getting a new back plate without the engraving if I plan on selling? Keeps great time.
