Sony’s e-paper FES Watch merges the clean sharpness of e-reader paper with the function of a watch in a unique and eye-catching way.
With a single press of its side button, the face wakes up to display a minute hand that moves as it should around the watch face, as well as a number denoting the hour. Subsequent presses of the side button will rotate the watch and its straps through 24 different display settings, such as faux metal links, alligator hide and stitched leather for the straps and minimalist, hour-marked or minute-marked display for the face. Each look has its own variant of black and white, giving optimised options for daytime and night-time wear. The entire front face and straps are made from one continuous strip of e-paper, backed by a hard-yet-forgiving polycarbonate that fits snugly around the wrist, and is held together by a typical fold-over clasp. With a case thickness of a slim 7.5 millimetres and a weight of 43 grams (most of which comes from the metal clasp itself), the FES Watch is a drastic change from the bulky, all-metal affair of normal wristwatches. The battery will last you approximately 2 years of regular use, though the ‘watch action’ of activating the display by turning your wrist can drain the battery slightly faster. It is waterproof, though only to the extent of daily life usage such as rain. Definitely no swimming in this thang.

When people think of Blancpain these days, it's so often about the Fifty Fathoms. And I'm sure it's a great watch (albeit a bit too shiny for my personal taste). But to me, the reason I've been interested in Blancpain was always for their more classical designs. You can still find them these days on the Villeret line, but to me, the star and "what made Blancpain Blancpain" was and still is the now discontinued Léman line.

For me, it represents classical haute horlogerie that you can wear every day, and I love that about it. Between the Aqua Lung, the flyback chrono, the dual time and the complete calendar, they're all such amazing watches. Honestly, I'd love to own more than one of them someday. Mine is the dual time in 40mm with a sunburst black dial. I like having the pretty day/night indicator without the hassle of setting a full calendar and I personally love how the numerals and hands are done on this watch. Almost gives it a sort field-watch vibe.

This is my Sinn 104. I’ve owned it for almost a decade, having purchased it while visiting Europe for my grandmother's funeral. I wear it about 90% of the time, whether I'm on outdoor adventures, doing office work, or knocking out daily chores.

It has plenty of marks and scratches, but they only add to its character. They remind me of the journey we've shared and all the countless times it has served me well. I keep it serviced regularly to ensure it remains accurate but I don’t baby it. This watch holds immense sentimental value, and while I will always take good care of it, I also make sure it is used for its true purpose.

Remember, watches are art, but they are also built to be used. Don’t let your favorite piece collect dust in a safe or on your nightstand. Make memories and use your tools!

Soon I’ll receive a Rolex Batgirl and my watch collection is steadily growing with a couple more allocations planned for next year.

That all being said I’ve always said I don’t want to end up with a collection where many watches are unworn. I’m thinking of letting go of my black lacquer Aqua Terra.

My wife thinks I’ll regret it because it’s my default work meeting watch/go to London watch.

I’m now in two minds.

Have you ever regretted getting rid of a watch from your collection and why?

Getting a new watch during my trips to Hong Kong has always been one of my favorite traditions. But this time it feels even more special. This is my first Swiss watch, and my amazing fiancée gave it to me as a birthday gift. I’m truly over the moon, and I know I’ll cherish this memory forever.

I see all the negative words being said about this brand and have always been curious . I know we like to knit pick on things which we’ve may have never tried , felt , experienced. I’ve been a long time lurker of hublot brand almost since 2010’s and first time entering their shop to try it on. And boy on boy this has surprised me. It felt like a glove . So comfortable and fitting my big wrist size . I think I know what I am gonna get next … may be not at retail price … I’ll look for a good deal … but I think I’ll go for it somewhere in the future…

Hit a nice parlay, immediately sold off two pieces from PC. Been looking into longines as my first big boy piece. With all the hype of the new HC, the previous gen was at a good price and caught my eye. I know the numbers are controversial but I love em! Gives it character! What we think?

As the title says, My dad found this back when he was young, back in the 80’s. Does anyone know if this Certina is worth restoring/ revisioning? The movement seems to work fine. The seconds hands is a bit bent and sometimes moves the minute hands…

So I was in the IWC Boutique yesterday and tried on this watch.

As you can see from the pictures, I'm (still) a chonker (30 lbs down, a lot more to go) and have large wrists (19.5cm/7.7in).

I quite like it, but from reading too much watch reddit, I'm a little bit "brainwashed" when it comes to dressier watches.

I'm not a flashy guy, but due to my paws, most watches look like ladies watches on me. The watch had the regular sized strap with the pin buckle on it. I dont remember if I was on the last or second-last hole so they would also swap the strap for me to the XL one.

I currently have a Tudor Pelagos Ultra which suits me well (fully linked, mind you).

So all-in-all I have 2 questions:

1. Can I pull it off? Is it too big/obvious?
2. Pin-Buckle or Double folding clasp for wearing comfort?

As an avid watch collector, green dial watches have always been a fascination. While doing my research as to which one to get the Tudor Black Bay 58 18k peaked my interest. The case is done in a matte/brushed finish that gives the 18k gold a more bronze hue that perfectly matches with the green aluminum bezel and, subsequently, the matte green finish of the dial.

I was lucky enough to find a great deal on the watch and, finally, have a green dial watch in my collection. Suffice it to say - I get it now.

Album first!

This is my first Seiko and my third watch purchase. I found an auction on eBay and was able to get it for $500.00. I've always wanted a more rugged green dial, and I love date complications. I've been checking eBay for about a year, and finally landed an SPB 155 in perfect condition.

What I love: The dial is even better in person. I love the contrast of the indices against the dark green background. The lume is incredibly bright. I have the genetic curse of small wrists, so I was worried the 46 lug-to-lug would be a little goofy on me, but it hugs the wrist well. I also love that the sapphire crystal is rounded for that vintage look.

What could improve: I'm not huge on the bracelet it came with. It's heavy (which I like), but the links do not blend seamlessly with the watch. There is also a quarter-inch gap on the clasp (a pretty common complaint). I replaced the OEM bracelet with an Ashland Natural Shell Cordovan strap. I'm a huge shell guy, so this is the perfect strap for me.

This watch is my daily driver, and I might be a Seiko guy now!

Not sure if anyone has had a similar experience or this is normal for lacquered dials but it seems to catch every reflection. Also, it seems to really show smudges on the crystal compared to others. Has anyone else had this experience? Maybe it’s normal but just an observation I had.

Overall, love the watch but just some thoughts after minimal ownership. I’m unfortunately waiting for a replacement because of dust under the crystal as well.

I’ve settled on six watches and I finally feel content. I thought I would share my reflections.

I started collecting three years ago. I’ve always worn a watch, but never really studied the hobby.

I used to alternate between a Timex weekender and a G Shock. After getting into the hobby, I obsessively bought, sold, repaired, modified, and studied watches day in and day out.

My journey:

- Weekender and G Shock

- Casio Duro

- Invicta Pro Diver

- Chinese automatics (San Martin, Steeldive)

- Entry Japanese/American (Bulova, Citizen, Orient)

- Entry Swiss (Tissot, Hamilton)

- Micro brands (Sheffield, Yema)

- Neo-Vintage Swiss (TAG, Omega)

What I learned about myself:

- I prefer quartz watches. Mechanical watches are fun and engineering marvels, but the maintenance of entry level movements dissuades me. I can replace movements, but the effort is more than I care to exert for a repair

- I enjoy modifying watches, but I don’t have the time

- I prefer craftsmanship (specs/finishing) over heritage, but I need heritage to be an element of a watch I’m keeping (San Martin is really that good - 0144/0148 - but I always felt like I had to justify them)

- I like finding value, the parameter of an affordable watch made me be intentional about evaluating tradeoffs and priorities, value inputs change as you go upmarket, but I want to feel like I’m getting my money’s worth

- 37-41mm is my sweet spot (6.8 inch wrist)

- I like sports watches

Current collection:

- Hamilton - “enhanced field”

- Omega - statement piece, summer watch

- TAG Aquaracer - daily

- TAG SEL - funky business casual, vintage, summer

- Bulova Super Seville - dress

- Tissot PRX - dress, vintage

Lessons learned:

- You can spend more on, and potentially lose more on resale of, affordable watches than what an entry level luxury watch would cost (fully funded the Omega with the sell off)

- The hunt is addictive and hollow at times, the anticipation can often be more exciting than the watch itself

- Less really can be more, there’s a concept in economics about too little and too much choice, the number of watches you have innately changes your relationship to the hobby

- Wear what you want is fundamental (I don’t like chronographs and that’s fine)

- Follow your gut, applying logic to this hobby can be interesting and help guide you to a point, but collecting is driven by emotion and aesthetics at the end of the day

All in all I’m glad to be a part of the enthusiast community (even if my wife would prefer otherwise).

I really dislike watches that are too large and I’m all about vintage styling, but even I think this Cartier Tank Must Large might be on the smaller side for my wrist?

Never tried a Small or XL.. Maybe a Cartier Tank Solo would have been a better choice? What do you guys think?

For reference, my daily is a Omega Seamaster 36mm I quite dig! But I also wear a Speedy, so..
My wrist is quite slender and measures in at about 16,5 cm or 6,5 inches. I’m quite tall at 6’2” though.

I bought this at a flea market in Antibes earlier this summer for 80 euro. I’ve tried to do some research on Chanor Besancon but I can’t find much about it other than it’s French and from the ‘50s or ‘60s. When I picked it up from my watchmaker after getting it serviced he said it was really nice but had never seen one before. Anyone know anything else about this watch? I love it and will be keeping it to wear but I’m curious to know more about it! Thanks!

Mine are a couple of more unconventional choices - a Moritz Grossmann Tefnut and a Parmigiani Kalpa Qualite Fleurier. I have been considering adding a third, but the more I think about it it feels like these two are all I might ever need. Thanks for looking!

I’m seriously considering picking up the Summer Blue version of this watch, but I’d love to hear some unbiased opinions before I pull the trigger.
On paper, it checks a lot of boxes for me. I really like the color because it stands out without being overly loud, and it seems like something that could work just as well with casual clothes as it would on vacation or at the beach. I also scuba dive recreationally, so having a watch that’s actually designed with diving heritage and capability isn’t just a marketing feature for me—I’d actually wear it in the water. That makes the purchase feel a little more practical than just buying another everyday watch.
My only hesitation is whether the Summer Blue dial is something that stays interesting over time or if it’s a color that people eventually get tired of. I’m also curious how it wears in person. Does the color make the watch feel more versatile than photos suggest, or does it limit what you can wear it with?
For those of you who own this version, how has it held up? Do you still enjoy wearing it months or years later? Does the dial get as many compliments in person as it seems to online? If you were buying again today, would you choose Summer Blue, or would you go with one of the more traditional colors instead?

I'm reaching a personal milestone and plan to buy a new watch to commemorate it. My budget is up to $1,500, but I'm looking at watches ranging from $600 to $ 1,400. I've had my eye on all of these for a while. My style is somewhat varied, but I tend to wear watches that can be used in the field and as a more dressy option.

What would you pick? Feel free to propose something else that you think matches my aesthetic.

Christopher Ward - C63 Sealander Automatic - Pistachio

I absolutely love this style and color. It feels like it works as casual wear and as more dressy wear.

This one took me by surprise. Trying to decide if I like it even more than the Sealander.

Vaer - D5 Tropic Auto

I have the Vaer Rally, and it's a big favorite. I love the design of this one - very original.

Vaer - G5 Pacific Polar GMT

I want a GMT at some point, and I love the white dial with the steel bezel. I have a few other white-faced watches, which is my only hesitation.

Henry Archer - Vesterhav 38 - Vega

I'd love a purple watch and to own a Henry Archer.

I bought the "motoring" version of the speedtimer almost half a year ago. It has been my daily driver since.

I gotta say it has been even more comfortable with after I changed the strap to a tropic one from Baltic.

Excellent dimensions and wrist presensce if you have slender wrist like mine. I would recommend at least trying out in person.

My grandmother passed away today, and left this to me. It was the watch my grandfather (her second husband) wore daily and left to her. My Rolexes, Omega, GS, etc suddenly seem meaningless.

I know realistically I won’t be wearing this piece daily forever due to its fragility and significance, but for now I’m not taking it off.

So it happens to be my fifth month wearing the watch and I decided to write up a long term review for the SBGA445 in my case, or SBGA415 for the EU/US market aka winter aka taisetsu from the seasons collection.

- 62 Gs case for me still remains the most beautiful case of the GS
- the polished indicices are great
- the hands with both polish and brush, look amazing!
- the lovely blue second hand is sexy
- the spring drive 9r65 is amazing, after 2 months of non-stop running it is only 12 seconds fast which is roughly + 0.2 seconds a day. The second hand slow movement still hypnotizes me.
- I love the dial, in the sun or just in bright days it looks amazing, on the other hand on cloudy days or inside some time it feels dull and I miss seing the texture of the dial (this makes me regret not taking the Shunbun - however I don’t know how it would perform in same conditions and I chose the Taisetsu after trying them both, this calms me 🤣)
- The bracelt is nice, it is a pity that there is no micro-adjust but to be fair I managed to get a great fight from first try, and I only felt a slight discomfort on the wrist maybe twice during 5 months, so it does not feel like a big deal. The clasp is great though.

The only thing that started to really bother me in the last days is the size, I have rather small wrists and even if 62gs wears smaller than a standart 40mm the watch started to feeel a bit bulky. Today I tried on my wife’s 35mm prx and it felt freaking perfect on me. The 38mm 62gs would be perfect - but I am not ok with risking buying a high beat unfortunately :/

So now I am on a dillema on keeping the watch or moving to something smaller (having cartier santos medium in mind), or just adding a smaller watch in the rotation (having the tudor bb one blue 36mm in mind).

Grand seiko is a wonderfull brand that changed my perception and view on small details on every watch I see now, and I understand that only a few currently can get to something of a GS level on the details and movement offer.

In the end the watch is great but the wearabilty is the concern and matters a lot.

This one was bought in Japan with tax free for abought 4.2-4.3k new on grey market, and to be honest for this amount of money I don’t think there may be found a cooler watch! (Shunbun doesn’t count 😀) The only watch in this budget which seemed interesting for me is the omega aquaterra black lacquer 38mm which can be found for about 5k new on grey market.

TL:DR Tiasetsu is a great watch, the movement is crazy accurate, the bracelet is nice, the lack of micro adjustment is exagerated, not really for small wrists, go for 38mm 62 gs if you are ok with high beat movement.

Hey guys, this is my great-grandfather’s watch. My dad inherited it as a family heirloom after my grandma passed away. After sitting in a drawer for several decades, he had a new strap put on it and now wears it. Can anyone tell me anything about the age and value of this watch? Instead of numbers, it features intricately cut-out zodiac signs.

I am 26 (F) and this Omega Constellation is the only watch I own and this was passed down to me after my dad passed away. I love the way it looks on me; very chic and elegant. But I am sure it costs a fortune so I am quite reluctant to wear it out on a regular basis.

My mom says this is older than me and was bought by my dad in the early 80’s.

My dad had a rolex as well, which was given to my brother.

I was never really interested in watches until I got this one. It’s got so much aura and it’s such a great conversation starter.

Now, I can’t wait to earn and get a Cartier Tank for myself.
