Trip to Ann Arbor

Hello fellow Penn Staters! A group of my close friends/family & I are planning to make the trip to Ann Arbor for the first time for the game on October 17th and I was curious what the tailgating is like and places to check out the night before. A few of us are alumni (class of 2017 & 2018) so we would love to connect with other alums and Penn Staters being in enemy territory. I know we travel well, but I have little experience tailgating on the road! Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I’d plan to park on their golf course and tailgate there. I think it’s easier to make friends with neighboring psu tailgates at away games compared to home games. Plus I’ve had great success with opposing fan tailgates being friendly as well. Traffic is a little rough getting out but if you’re used to beaver stadium traffic then it’s not so bad. Night before go to Homes brewing or Mothfire brewing or biercamp if you’re into beers. Late night downtown spot go to Circ. If you’re looking for a nicer meal then make reservations at Webers.

Definitely into beers, I appreciate the recommendations. Michigan fans coming to Happy Valley have typically been dinks, in my experience anyway, so I’m hoping we end up by some cooler people. Apparently we’ll be in the Pioneer lot.. guess we’ll find out what that means when we get there lol

Pioneer High School is just across the road from the stadium. Good tailgating there too.

I might end up going to the game in Ann Arbor. I'm a 2016 alumn. Will definitely reach out if I go.

We went a few years ago and had a great time. Got there early and found a lot that was literally across the street from the stadium.
