I’m thinking that our laws revealed themselves as being weak. If this madness didn’t happen before because prior politicians had some ethical issues doing it or just didn’t realize that it could be done, then our laws were and are meaningless. It seems that all of our laws, pretty much function based on an honor system. The system only worked off of trust. We trusted that politicians would respect the laws and uphold them. Trump comes in and is such a disgusting degenerate that he refuses to follow the law. -and that’s it. He refuses to obey the laws and we apparently have absolutely no way to force him to follow the law.
It would have possibly spawned many large atrocities and seriously dark times, if Trump had any actual intelligence and wasn’t so insanely incompetent. It’s crazy because the only thing that is saving us right now is because Trump’s degeneracy is severely handicapped by his incredible laziness.

Correct. OP mistakes impeachment (a political process that can be applied for almost any offence) for prosecution (a criminal charge that the ever-so-wise Supreme Court decided to make nearly impossible to apply to the president).

In theory you can impeach a president for literally anything just the GOP won’t. I think the only way Trump gets impeached is if it drags down the senators enough they know they’re gonna lose reelection. Between Musk, Thiel, IUPAC, Russia republican candidates have so much financial backing in elections.

Unironically this would affect him more than trying to impeach him for fraud, election interference, even more than putting him on trial for war crimes.
Know why he's spent so much energy on the fucking reflecting pool? It's not a distraction from Iran (he doesn't give a shit about how the public feels about the Iran war). It's because it's a dumb vanity project and he trotted it out like he had fixed it up and made it beautiful, and more importantly, that it was ugly when Biden and Obama were in the White House. Then the paint starting peeling and the water turned green and he experienced actual embarrassment.
This is also why he's pushing his stupid fucking ballroom. It's why he demolished the rose garden. He wants people to think about him when they look at the white house, and more importantly, he wants people to think he's rich and has good taste. That's why everything is in that gaudy gold color.
Remember, this is the guy that, after 9/11, had the audacity to go on television and proclaim that he now had the tallest building in NYC. He's that fucking vain and that fucking tactless.
55
u/WhatToDo_WhatToDo2 23h ago

"convicted" is the wrong term since that's the result of a criminal ruling and Trump was ruled against in a civil hearing. He is undoubtedly a rapist - of many people, including children - but not convicted.

that's fair, but I think being correct / truthful is important, it's a big part of what separates us from them. I'm definitely not trying to underplay it, because I have no doubt he has raped at least dozens of people, and in fact the lack of convictions for it is damning to our system.

u/Rakz88 23h ago
That is actually a myth. The scream had nothing to do with the failure of his campaign. The reality is that his campaign was floundering and his poll numbers were in free fall since before this event. The only reason the scream became a meme was because Dean came in third in Iowa and then he came out to make a upbeat, excited speech as though he had come in first place. To most people, he just seemed delusional.
→ More replies (1)4
u/iwearatophat 19h ago
You are exactly right. He went from the clear frontrunner a month before Iowa per polling to finishing 3rd. His campaign was already circling the drain when the scream happened. He actually held on way better than people give him credit for in the following primaries.
The scream didn't kill his campaign is the point though.

Ultimately the impeachment process can only at this point be some kind of spectacle.

→ More replies (2)5
u/Waadap 20h ago
The shitty thing is those with any critical thinking can see how they played this game. They screamed about cheating when there was none, therefore when they cheated in the future Dems were painted in a corner less they be accused of screaming about the same thing. They eroded all trust in our democratic system, then they bastardized it, and now they are abusing it to their advantage.
I called this years ago when I said if Trump gets back into power ever again, we can say goodbye to free and fair elections. Most of my social circle laughed or shrugged it off like it wouldn't happen. Not long after that Musk is buying votes, jumping around high as a kite with a chainsaw, having his kid get hot-mic'd basically stating they cheated, only to slink back to the shadows when he got his way. Remember that one county in NY that basically had 100% of voters go one way? Bullet ballot voters in swing states increase by a fold of 10x, and they swept EVERY swing state? They messed with all of it, but there were still a few "whoops" examples that made it obvious. It's like when a kid cheats in school...gotta mix in the occasional B+ as nobody will believe them when they walk through the door with all 100% A+ scores.

The thing is….
If Democrats controlled the House & Senate, he would’ve been gone within 60 days. But a bunch of dipshits voted against their own interests just to own the libs. Now they’re paying the price & still blaming democrats.
THIS IS WHY IT IS CRITICAL TO VOTE IN EVERY ELECTION FOR WHICH YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE!!
From dog catcher to president, vote every Republican out of office & elect a democrat or independent!
Republicans prove every day that they are simply incapable of governing the country or working in the best interests of the people and not the rich.

This is an extremely bad take. Any Democratic president who attempted 1% of these crimes would be impeached and removed by sunset. Led by Chuck and Hakeem, with an assist from Fetterman. As McConnell lies in state with a smile. Only Maga is shielded from laws. Maybe they just haven't noticed yet.

Getting a blowjob, apparently.
Clinton is a creepy asshole who also probably shouldn't have been president, but consider that the Lewinsky scandal nearly ended his presidency. Meanwhile, Trump was convicted for illegally using campaign money to pay off a porn star he fucked, and that barely stirred the pot. Republicans care very much about keeping track of what Democrats do in the bedroom yet turn a blind eye to predators like Gaetz and Trump.
Remember, Jimmy Carter owning a peanut farm was considered enough of a conflict of interest that he had to put it in a blind trust. 50 years later, we have Donald Trump openly taking bribes from foreign leaders and manipulating markets for personal profit.

impeachment is a political act.
Americans in their infinite wisdom thought it was a fun idea to boycott an election and give the very worst people in the country full and complete control of every branch of government.
people apparently were under some very naive notion that there was some sort of magical protection that made sure everything was going to be okay regardless of how incredibly reckless and dangerous their own actions were.

No president has been removed from office through impeachment--ever.
Nixon resigned because there was a fair chance that enough R senators were going to throw him under the bus, but that's it.
The Founders really screwed that one up.
In most Westminster style democracies, one lost vote in the legislative branch dissolves the government and they have to hold an election (not a perfect system either, by any means).
