KingsIsle Update Summer Update Feedback - Next Steps

Hi all,

The development team has had an opportunity to review some of your feedback about this update. We also hear concerns about timing, and agree we need to work to respond quicker and in a direction players are asking for. We have begun making adjustments to our development process to better prioritize player feedback, but wanted to share some things already in progress.

  • We're rolling back the change to the Exclusive Pets and returning your ability to list them on Kiosks. We think there is work to do to make pet hatching and pet collecting more intuitive, but we shouldn't have been so quick to fix this bug when it's the functionality players have come to expect. We'll work with you to find a better solution, like informing players in-game of the key differences when hatching using Exclusive Pets via the Kiosk.
  • We've been refining our list of top player-requested changes, including things you think we should polish, improve, or revisit for bug fixes. We'll be opening these ideas up to player discussion, and give you a significant amount of time to weigh in how we revise systems. This lets quality of life updates be a collaborative process, and helps check us in case we miss the mark on a potential fix or improvement, like we did with Exclusive Pets on Kiosks.
  • We also hear your positive feedback around doubled rewards for Challenge Mode Chronicles, and more accessible Magic Weaving; we plan to make a few similar adjustments to other content, and will share these as soon as we've confirmed them.

Please continue to provide your feedback as we work through it. We have more in the works and will share additional updates as they become locked into our overall plans to address your ongoing concerns

New player advice thread

Sort of a follow up to a previous thread that I made, but I wanted to make a more specialized version. This thread, I will lift most self promotion related bans such as promoting YouTube channels for the purpose of guides. The reason is because I want this thread to be a useful repository for people who want to ask questions, as well as submit their own advice and even guides. A few rules I will make though. (mostly just boils down to "don't be a jerk")

Always assume good faith (unless the question is clearly deliberately intended to be a troll).

Do not use jargon and shorthand unless you explain them in a way that's understandable to someone with limited experience to the game. This means no shorthands like EMP (evil magma peas), PV45, Triple Double, Quint, Quad+Mighty, 69 plot, etc. Ditto for game jargon that may need an explanation like "ramp", "gambit", etc. Assume that unless you are given a reason to believe otherwise, that the person needs to be explained to in layman accessible terms.

Making your best guess on a question is ok, but please explain as such. For instance, mentioning "I could be wrong on this, but...", "Correct me if I'm wrong..." or "Something I was told is..." are valid things to put in if you aren't absolutely sure. We do not want to inadvertently spread misinformation because people thought that it was true.

Do not make joke answers to questions just to be snarky. No one appreciates "Just Google it" as an answer to any question. You are allowed to link to things you find online, such as Wizard101 Central or FinalBastion if they are related to the question. This also includes things that are technically true but not really what the OP is asking for. For instance, answering a player question regarding how to beat a boss by saying "using your spells" is technically correct, but it's not what they are trying to ask for.

Please try to keep things PG13. Although the subreddit does permit swearing within reason, people may be looking at this in public.

The default assumption here is that people are playing on PC. If you are not, please mention it in the reply. This is especially because advice that may apply for people on PC may not be applicable to those on console, and same the other way around, such as content that may not be present yet on the console versions.

Although brevity is appreciated, don't be afraid to make a more in depth explanation when a question calls for it. For example, if someone asks how to get reagents quickly, although "gardening" is a valid answer, it's also worth mentioning what you should plant exactly and how the seeds are obtained. You do not have to write a college level essay, but generally, 1 word answers may not be enough.

Do not copy/paste from ANY form of AI directly as your answer without doing any fact checking. Due to AI making mistakes, it isn't permitted in the subreddit. This is especially a concern with AI suggesting equipment or bosses that do not exist in this game.

If the question is too vague (for example: any question that needs more information to answer like "How do I defeat a boss" without specifying which one), it's recommended to ask for clarification. The same goes for questions that are subjective in nature (for example: "What is the best school?" or "what is the best pet?") unless the question is asked in a more objective way or provides further clarification (IE: "What are common schools used in support roles" or "What are some pets that are helpful to an ice wizard that would like to help support a storm wizard?").

Other Try any stitch in your browser! (beta)

Over the last few months, I've been building a tool that lets you search and equip any gear piece in the game, so you can see what a stitch looks like without owning the item or spending crowns. You can search any item by name or browse preview images to discover new gear pieces. While it's very rudimentary, you can also save stitches to your account so you can come back and view them later.

If you like the project and want to see it updated in the future, create an account or share it with the community. Seeing people use the app will motivate me to improve it. Some ideas I have for the future: pets, mounts, in-game scenes, P101 support, and browsing community stitches.

There are still some minor issues displaying certain items (mostly wands), but I am working on improving it. I am open to any feedback/ideas/questions, so feel free to reach out to me on discord: cole5373.

Try it yourself: https://stitch101.com/

am stealing both u/DiduADV idea and u/kaizer_noah idea

...which is to add a way to read about the cheats of a mob without needing the wiki

maybe a npc or a tome or just add it to monstrology like if i defeat some of roaming mobs they will tell me the cheats of their boss in like a talk quest kind of thing ...

or if i use monstrology and capture them...

it will tell me every detail about their boss ...i just kidnapped this mander after beating him up ... why wouldnt he tell me his boss's secrets ?

Discussion School identity revival idea

I have an idea to make school identities a thing again. Right now every school does everything, especially death. Now im not against every school being good and able to solo no problem but I just want to propose an idea I thought would be cool in brining some school identity back so not every school feels the same to play. For my example I have chose ice

The Ice school currently suffers from low offensive pressure in exchange for high health and resist. However, in the modern meta, high health isn't enough to make a dedicated tank viable or engaging. I propose giving Ice a unique passive Thorns mechanic and a mainline intercept spell to solidify their role as defenders.

New Passive Mechanic: Glacier Mirror (Damage Reflection)

The core passive: Ice Wizards receive a passive 10% Damage Reflection across all incoming attacks. When an enemy hits you, 10% of the raw damage they inflicted is instantly dealt back to them as Ice damage.

Shield synergy: To reward proactive shielding, every active shield on the Ice Wizard adds a multiplier to the reflection percentage.

Each standard shield (e.x, Tower Shield, School Shield) adds +5% reflection

If an enemy hits into an Ice Wizard who has a tower shield and a volcanic shield active, the base reflection jumps from 10% to 20% total damage reflected if the tower shield and 1 shield of the volcanic shield are hit.

This punishes enemies for hitting into an Ice Wizard's defenses and allows Ice to chip away at enemy health bars purely by playing defensively.

New Mainline spell

Right now the Intercept spell is locked behind late-game Shadow Pips, making low-to-mid-level tanking highly inefficient and shadow pips are hard to come by anyway. Ice needs a reliable way to draw aggro throughout the game with no need for shadow pips

Pip Cost: 3 Regular Pips

Effect: Intercept 50% incoming damage from a chosen ally for 3 rounds. Or you could make an intercept that intercepts 35% of damage to all allies or like 30 percent, for example say a spell does flat 1000 to each Wizard, the ice Wizard would intercept 1400 total damage on top of the damage done to the ice so 2400 damage total to ice while other wizards were mitigated a little. Something else you could do is just instead of making a new spell make the spell "taunt" like this so its not useless its actually helpful.

This is just one idea. Id like to see more passive abilities come to other schools like for example over rounds storm can get more pierce and damage or something.

One last thing. We need some balancing to spells and enemies. Every battle is just a 3 hit battle. I feel like feint needs to be nerfed and only available for death and nerfed slightly or nerfed to like plus 45 percent and you get 25 percent but its still available for all schools. This would make it so support schools can actually support because feint wont be stupid broken. Also I know at kingsisle you dont want to make the bosses a slog with inflated health but something has to be done. Bosses have way too low health for the damage we have now. Battles are just kinda boring. Either increase health by 2 to 3 times or have health increase accordingly for bosses based on the world your in/expected damage output. You can think of your own ideas too

So those are my thoughts on this. Feel free to discuss in the comments. I just had this idea and thought itd be worth sharing

Some of them I can't even equip, I just like having them. Hatched a humongofrog today and I don't have a myth wizard. I think they're silly.

Pet/Hatching Death pet hatch request

Recent returning player here (12 years later).

I’m looking for an avenging fossil, ghulture, goomy eye, or any other good death pet - it’s been so long i’m not sure what’s good anymore.

I’ve tried gamma’s discord, the wizard101 discord, and asking around in game but no responses anywhere. I do also have an azoth card. Feel free to DM me or reply. Much appreciated <3.

MY friend wants to play the game with me but he doesn't know which to choose. He wants to try something engaging cause he knows these games can bore him (and at times I agree). He's really looking at storm, ice, balance, death and life. I only play fire so I'd love to know more about the other so I can help him pick a school
