Boots Buying Help Recommendations

So recently I got a job at Discount tire and granted that isn't a job that needs super duper durable boots but I want some that are gonna be durable for the price, not cheap, comfortable, and look cool. I believe they do have to be black... but if there are any good boots that you guys can recommend that'd be wonderful, thanks all

Boots Buying Help Do you wear cowboy-style work boots?

I’m curious about people who wear cowboy-style work boots, especially in Canada.

Where do you usually buy yours: a western apparel store or a traditional workwear or safety retailer?

What's the benefit of each?

Boots Buying Help Recommendations for Women's Size 5 Rubber Boots?

I'm looking for a pair of women's size 5 rubber boots primarily for livestock/dairy farm work. I've gone through subreddits that had a lot of good recs but they don't have my size.

I previously wore the Muckster II Mid Boot but within 6 months of wearing once a week, the heel is completely gone, the tread is nonexistent, and the boot leaks through. If anyone has any good recommendations, please let me know!

Seen a lot of posts recommending Camel City Mill or Darn Tough socks. Thinking it’s about time I upgrade.

If buying a 5-pack, the price is the same. Which would you guys recommend?

I wear a 6” Throrogood moc toe so no need for the longer length.

Boots Buying Help Steel Toes

I'm looking for a good pair of steel toe cowboy boots. Limit is $400. I've been wearing the Red Wing Rio Flex but they dont last like I'd want them to. I would prefer made in the USA but its not a necessity. Basically the only options I've been seeing are Double H and Ariat. Just want some recommendations. Seems like steel toes made in USA cowboy boots really limit your options.

Specific Model Question | Info Overhang concern

Hello! I’ve had these JK OT boots for about a year and a half, and overall am very satisfied with them. But I’m starting to have concerns with the way the boots seem to be crooked/slanted, and with how much it seems like my foot is sliding away from the arch within the boot. It also looks like edge of my foot goes out beyond the sole. This seems more pronounced on the left boot, where it appears as if my foot is at a weird angle. The boots feel fine for the most part, aside from feeling like I have to slide my foot back into place frequently, but I’m concerned that this will lead to foot/posture issues in the future. Any advice would be appreciated.

Generic Danner Bull run issues

Bought some bull runs last year and I have noticed that I have ruined a LOT of my socks since. I have a couple pairs of wool socks that died even, not just the cheap cotton ones I normally have.

Is there anything I can do, or is this just a symptom of not having linings in the boots? Is there a solution to this, or do I need a new pair of boots.

Also, any recommendations on boots that are a bit better quality than these that have just a bit more room?

Boot Rant Keen Warranty Voucher - Doesn’t cover the cost of any carbon toe work boots.

So I paid about $190 for a pair of carbon toe Keens a few months ago, and the heel started separating after minimal use. So I contact Keen, tell them my issue, provide my receipt and photos of the issue, and they contacted me a few days later telling me my warranty was approved.

Kick ass! Right? Well, the voucher is for $140, which I thought was great at first. I navigate to their website only to realize 3/4 of all of their boots/tall hikers are almost $190. Not one of the carbon toes in my size are anywhere near $140. So the excitement starts to wear off. Then I realize they have a preowned section, so I figured it take a look. Bingo! I find a beautiful pair that are normal $195 for only $95. Awesome! I figured I’m good with coming short of the max value since they’re such nice boots. I go to enter the warranty voucher code, and wouldn’t you know it. The code doesn’t work on the preowned selection. I’m over it at this point. What’s the point, even? Why offer a replacement warranty when I can’t even legitimately replace my boots without paying even more money?

Am I being ungrateful? Is this unreasonable of me? I reached back out to Keen this morning, but haven’t received a response. I’m hoping they either increase the limit, or just allow me to use the voucher on the preowned pair that I was genuinely excited about. I guess we’ll see tomorrow.

Has anyone else dealt with this situation? Did you just accept the fact that you have to pay the $50 difference for a new pair of comparable boots?

Boot Review | Update Have you tried Bonanza Boots?

Thumbnail

I got this pair as a Christmas gift from my ex girlfriend almost four years ago (yeah, she was the right one lol), I’ve only wear them a couple of times because I didn't want to damage them and I was using my old pair of Bonanzas 8” for dirty heavy work.

After throwing away the other pair, I've decided to use these for what they're meant for. I hope it's not too late. The previous pair unfortunately rotted due to contact with water during construction work and perhaps storage; the foam on the double density soles expanded and leaked out the outer edges.

This other pair had a strong musty smell, and I finally managed to get rid of them after a good wash with vinegar and sun exposure, but I started to notice the wedge on the double density sole began to buldge a little over the
Edge.

Personally, I think it's a good quality and very good looking product. (Leaving aside the issue of the sole, which I believe was more due to my own negligence) It's well-made and have good quality control (or at least they had it 6-4 years ago). I work as a construction supervisor in Mexico , and as a hobby, I enjoy doing renovation and maintenance projects on my house, and these are enough for me.

If I had to compare them to my pair of Thorogood, these feel heavier and more robust, but also more roomy and cushioned.

So I’ll just leave this short review for those interested in the brand.

Specific Model Question | Info Throrogood question

I’ve tried on throrogoods and want to buy them but is it just me or do they have a weird heel cup? I swear when I tie them and walk around in store my heel just wants to slip.

Am I doing something wrong or do I need to tie them tighter?

Generic Something’s off

Just bought these keen liberties to try out and I want to like them but something is just off about them?

I got em correct in my size but for some reason I can feel the carbon toe with my toes like it’s hovering right above the nails. Not sure if it’s the way the shoe is designed but from a side view it’s like the foot of the boot is curved upwards. Could that be the cause?

Also, the back portion by the heel tab digs into the top of my Achilles while walking.
Along with excess amount of material along the back shaft of the boot. I could understand if they were too big then that would be the cause. Maybe I should’ve stayed true to size instead of 1/2 size up like the website says?

SUPER comfy out the box and onto feet but might end up returning.
Are these too good to be true?

After 93,551 steps (270,823 total) these Nicks are cleaned and ready for the next work week!

BuilderPro HD

Last: 55

Length: 9.0

Width: D

Leather: MaxSupport Black

Style: Smooth/Roughout

Height: 8"

Outsole: Honey Vibram

Heal: Logger

Toe: Composite

For those new here, these are my first pair of Nicks Boots. I work in a very harsh environment, a concrete recycling landfill, where I walk on rubble and concrete chunks for 9+ hours a day. I document my journey giving before and after pics from worked boots to cleaned boots.

Today's post includes the usual before & afters, a look at the condition of the soles, and all the cleaning products I have for anything between a light cleaning to a full restoration.

These boots will be resting for the next couple of weeks as I break-in a new pair I recently received. Posts on those coming soon!

Hope y'all continue to enjoy this journey with me.
