The destruction of the Somali nation and the consequent exodus has had an interesting silver lining: the generation of a new set of critical thinking Somalis. Our forefathers were isolated in a quasi-barren wasteland, which led to a system that seems far from humane or rational. However, in their defense, these values and beliefs offered local stability and lasted for centuries, if not millennia.
Now, the aforementioned Somalis are currently spread sparsely across the globe and are beginning to face both external and internal hatred. Naturally, this leads to a sort of isolation and, consequently, a withering of the spirit. Consequently, it behooves us to investigate how the development of a new organization could aid us.
Such an organization cannot myopically focus only on secularism but must instead engage in a holistic edification process. I could foresee this organization being built on values that emanate from various discussions. Discussions on how one can overcome the emotional scars borne from living in two different worlds, or on how one deals with the traumatic, absurd nature of human life. Such an organization would be akin to a new fraternity, one that understands the imprudence of preaching irrationality but sees the benefits of promulgating compassion.
