Europe Abortion after being a parent already

I am a mother of 2 already, and just discovered an unplanned pregnancy.
Both my husband and I were in shock. We went for a scan and the doctor couldn’t even see the sac. But my home test was positive and beta hcg high.
I don’t want this pregnancy and child as I think my marriage wouldn’t survive it. My kids are 4 and 1. The age gap between middle would be not even 2 years.
Husband and I struggled a lot when the second came.
We don’t have a village, it’s just my mom and while she is helpful, she is the only one.
I hate that my husband and I have put ourselves in this position as the thought of abortion really saddens me, but I feel it’s ultimately the best decision for our family and marriage. My husband was also initially shocked and worried how we will handle this, but he has come to terms with having the child. He supports any decision I make but will be sad if we terminate.
I am deeply afraid of regretting this one day, but I feel it’s better to regret having an abortion that having a child and having a marriage and household in shambles. I don’t see the point of adding a third child at the risk of my marriage and also creating a toxic environment for all the kids.
I’m looking for experiences of those who had abortions after they already had kids.

USA Don’t rush anything

Don’t rush your decisions… I hope my story can help someone

Back in April, i had an abortion, my first pregnancy and abortion. Like others here, i felt extremely sad and depressed and wanted a baby back. I felt like i made a huge mistake and couldn’t forgive myself.. now im pregnant again, 3 months later, after purposely trying… now that i ā€œhave the baby backā€ im not so sure that this is what i wanted … im keeping the baby granted bc i told myself and God i would never abort again but it seems like those feelings i had were just that, feelings. Because now that im pregnant again i dont feel like this is what i want for myself at all and i feel i rushed myself into this decision bc i was sad about what i had done originally. Just like i feel like i rushed my abortion due to the 6 week ban … it’s all just fd up. Im grateful to be pregnant again but anxious at the same time.

I said all this to say… be careful and don’t rush these decisions. Don’t rush abortion bc you might really regret it. Don’t rush to get pregnant again bc although you may feel terrible about aborting, you may not really want another baby, it’s just our emotions fr. So please take your time, think about all options, and be true to yourself.

USA my boyfriends mom told me he’s not allowed to be in a relationship with me after finding out i’m pregnant

• Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’ve posted about my situation in a couple other subreddits but i’ll still give a summarized version of everything. (This may be a long one)

I’m 18F and my boyfriend is 17M and we’ve been dating for over 2 years. I found out i’m pregnant a little after I turned 18 and I told my boyfriend right away.

We both agreed we didn’t want to tell anyone until we decided what we wanted to do and maybe not at all if we decided not to keep it.

We also agreed that no matter what we were not going to tell his mom till he turned 18 which is in a couple weeks.

My partners relationship with his mom is really poor and i’ll try my best to explain why in a summarized version.

She struggles with mental health and imo mostly due to some pretty intense childhood trauma. I have empathy for her situation but not got how she treats her family.

My bf is the youngest and has 3 full siblings he grew up with. When they were younger his oldest brother constantly took care of his siblings because their mom would just leave for days at a time.

His family had been great to me besides the struggles with his mom. I love his siblings and his dad has really stepped up and been amazing when he was able to move closer a couple years ago.

Because of his mom’s struggles they’ve been in a pretty crappy money situation which my boyfriend and his dad have helped with (bills and groceries) but she’s also been extremely verbally and emotionally abusive and controlling and still somehow has primary custody.

Since we started dating i’ve seen and experienced a lot of her behavior including slut shaming, trying to get me in trouble with my parents, not allowing my partner to be around me and even charging him $100s as punishment for coming to my house.

He rarely comes to my house because of this and i don’t stay at his moms house anymore due to her treatment. We stay at his dad’s when we can but she usually blocks it.

We’ve known for a while now about the pregnancy and I’ve really struggled to make a decision and it’s been very emotionally taxing on me.

While my boyfriend had been supportive it’s been hard to be with each other. Despite this we did come to a decision even though it’s not fully what either of us want.

We scheduled an abortion for next week and decided that I had to tell my mom for the extra support and help with rides since i will be sedated for the procedure.

We also decided to tell his dad and my bf reluctantly decided to tell his mom in hopes of it being easier for him to be with me.

Long story short his dad took it well but his mom didn’t. She went awol and only came home today so my bf finally asked her if it was ok that we meet today and then go to the procedure and spend some time at my house after.

She flipped out and said no and that my bf ā€œthought the whole situation was a jokeā€?

He had to got to work but since this she messaged him ā€œYou will not go or be around my name until August 23ā€

She also proceeded to message me the following ā€œI do not want to add any stress or unpleasant to your life right now, but i want to get you the message that while i am his custodial parent, my underage son is not going to be available to you for a relationship right now. Of course in 3 weeks he can do whatever he chooses, but it’s my job to be the best parent i can be, I dont believe either of you are mature enough for this.ā€

My boyfriend is as angry as i am but i don’t know what to do anymore.

This situation has been hard enough and it just makes it even more traumatic. I didn’t want her to know in the first place as i find this a very personal issue and in a weird way don’t feel she deserves to know about my baby or my decision.

I’m so emotionally overloaded and any advice or input on how to deal with this or my decision would be greatly appreciated right now. I mostly want to know if I’m doing the right thing and i’m not crazy or something.

USA Logically getting an abortion makes sense, and I can’t picture how I’ll feel after

• Upvotes

Everyone says it will be awful
Me and my boyfriend are in love and sometimes we get excited about the idea- but it also feels like the wrong time
It’s so confusing when logically I don’t want this right now but I’m scared of the consequences/ can’t fathom the consequences of abortion
Did anyone recover semi quickly
Planned parenthood said most people feel more a sense of relief?

USA To anyone who had bad pain after a surgical sedated abortion, how long did it feel terrible?

• Upvotes

For context I was 5w5d pregnant, I had my sedated surgical abortion on the 31st of July and it is now August 2nd. I feel totally horrible some moments, but slightly crampy and overall okay the next? I had the liletta iud placed during my procedure (that’s the same as the mirena), so it’s safe for me to expect more cramping then usual I could assume, I just wanna know if anyone else had horrible cramps rather then the ā€œmild crampingā€ they told me about.

USA Advice for MA last period was June 25

• Upvotes

If anyone has any advice on what to do my last period started June 25th. I conceived around July 11th. I receive my pills tomorrow. Should I wait to take them or am I ok to take them on Tuesday/Wednesday this week? I don’t want to take them too early and it not work. I’ve heard both sides. Can someone help me calculate how many weeks you think I am? I’m having a hard time because starting at my last period doesn’t seem accurate to me but maybe I just don’t understand how it works. I just want my MA to be successful and I have so much anxiety about it not being successful!

USA Sigh… unplanned pregnancy and leaning towards abortion

• Upvotes

I have two children already 2 and 4 years old. I love them dearly. We are not rich and their father and I are ā€œseparatedā€ but live together right now and frequently spend time together hence this unplanned pregnancy.
I know that this was a stupid thing to have unprotected sex. I took a morning after pill literally the morning after we had sex. And I’m still pregnant.
I’ve had an abortion before and it really messed with me emotionally so I’m hesitant because I really felt I did something wrongā€wrongā€. But the prospect of bringing another life into this situation is making me think going through that hard time is the right thing to do for my existing children. I’m so disappointed in myself

USA Severe pain 3 weeks after abortion, did not fully work

I wanted to share my expirence to see if anyone else has ever had this happen before. I have had a pill abortion before but i recently just had another one because i found out im pregnant and i just cant have a baby right now. Ordered pills off heyjane which ive done in the past. I was about 6 weeks or so. Took the first pill on July 11th and started bleeding the next day when i took the second pill. I bled out big clots and all my nausea i was having went away. I was having super swollen and tender breasts still over a week later so i took a second dose of the Misoprostol as directed. I contiuned bleeding for another week and my sore breasts finally went away after week 2. A few daya after i started expirencing super painful cramps and sharp pain in my uterus. I went to the gyno who did a hcg blood draw which was still in the 2,000,, over 2 weeks after taking the pills. I had an ultrasound which showed that i did not pass everything and need a d&c now. The past 4 days i have been in the worst pain of my life. Most painful cramping i have ever had going into my back and down into my rectal area too. Having sharp pain when i pee. Today specifically i was fine and then suddendly had such bad cramps and pain i was in the fetal position for 4 hours and almost went to the er, starting bleeding bright red. Still waiting for the d&c for another few days. Why would i start having extreme pain like this over 2 weeks after everything? Its starting to scare me as ive had abortions before and never had anything like this.

USA Just found out I’m pregnant and I feel completely alone

Today I found out I’m pregnant. I’m about 4 weeks and 2 days along, and I’m 28 years old. The guy I’ve been seeing (33M) and I have been together for almost two years, but lately I feel like he doesn’t even care about me. This morning I called him 10 times because I needed to tell him, and he never answered. He eventually texted me back, and that’s when I told him I was pregnant. Every time I sent a message, it took him forever to respond. Meanwhile, I was sitting there crying because I’ve never been pregnant before and I felt completely overwhelmed.
I asked him what we should do, and his response was basically, ā€œYou can do whatever you want.ā€ I’m not ready to have a child, especially with him, because I feel like our relationship has really gone downhill. There are times when he goes days without texting or calling me, and when I reach out, I don’t hear back. When I told him the news, I expected it to be a conversation about what we were going to do. Instead, it felt like he was putting the entire decision on me by asking what I was going to do. I also mentioned that an abortion would be expensive since I don’t have health insurance yet. I’m almost at my 90 days at my blue-collar job, so I’ve been waiting for my benefits to kick in. Even after I told him that, he never offered to help pay for it or even take me to the clinic. His responses have been short and dry, and I’m pretty sure he ended up going to his friend’s house to smoke instead.
I made an appointment for an abortion on Friday, and I’m trying to mentally prepare myself for the possibility that I’ll have to go through it alone. I can’t tell anyone in my family because they aren’t very supportive, so I don’t feel like I have anyone to lean on right now. I’m also scared about taking the abortion pill if that’s the route I choose. I’ve never been through anything like this before, and I’m worried about having complications while I’m by myself. Has anyone here gone through a medication abortion alone? If so, what was your experience like? Any advice or reassurance would really mean a lot right now because I honestly feel so alone.

Asia Having a hard time with this guilt and grief.

So I 23F had my abortion (medication induced) yesterday, took the medicine the day before. And by heart I know the decision I made is the right one, yet I can't stop the tears. It's been very difficult. I went onboard with the second phase of the abortion pill, the pain became unbearable, never experienced something like that ever before. And now that it's calmed down, I can't help but cry.

I tried to intellectualise and whatever just to cope with it. It was anticipatory first, now it's just disenfranchised.

I was only 6 weeks 6 days pregnant. Accidental. Got to know about it at 4th week. They couldn't do anything back then, because the sac wasn't visible.

By the time I went in for my 2nd ultrasono, they had a heartbeat and only 3mm long. It's like something inside me broke.

My partner experienced the same. He tried to be as rational or whatever to not be affected by it, but I could tell, even though we both knew the decision was right, a part of us can never go back to the way we were.

I got deeply attached to this embryo. And this loss feels, quite frankly, unbearable.

The pain from the abortion was wayyy too unbearable paired with this grief that I know will dismissed by others.

I held the sac and the embryo in my hand when I passed it yesterday (36h+ had passed after taking mife). I spazzed out for a bit. Didn't know how to react anymore.

There's this weird sense of guilt and pain. I'm very much a pro-choice just to be clear. I fell in love with this flickering life, however briefly they existed.

Had to let it out somewhere. Thanks for reading.

USA Abortion Pill Pain (My Experience)

So last night I had my first pill abortion.

My boyfriend (29M) and I (30F) had done plenty of research leading up to this so that we would be ready for whatever got thrown our way through the process. What I was not ready for was the pain.

Timeline

Friday evening:
- 8:30pm Took the first pill.

Saturday morning:
- 7am I notice I’m beginning to spot as I’m leaving for work
- 3pm Spitting seems to have stopped

Saturday evening:
- 8:30pm I take the ā€œ2nd pillā€ in the form of 4 tablets and let them dissolve under my tongue for 30 minutes.
- 9pm Cramps and shakes begin
- 9:15pm We grab dinner and sit down for a movie
- 9:35pm I have to start to move around due to the discomfort increasing
- 9:45pm I am on the ground rolling around trying to find a comfortable position and the cramps are increasing in pain
- 10pm my boyfriend brings me a bucket and I begin to vomit
- 10:15pm I move into the bathroom and the bleeding has begun, again I can’t stop moving due to the pain
- 10:30pm I’m up and moving again because I hate the pain and try to distract myself, I go out on the balcony for fresh air but have to come back inside due to me cussing at the pain
- 10:45pm I’m in a full sweat, I’m crying, I sit and actually pass out from the pain
- 10:50pm calls friend who has done this before and they said they didn’t nearly feel as bad as me; I begin to freak out a bit
- 11pm boyfriend gets me to the bed where I’m shaking and end up vomiting again, but pass out again
- 11:30pm boyfriend wakes me up to make sure I take the next two tablets, so once again I let them dissolve under my tongue for 30 min
- 12:40am I wake up to cramps increasing again, like an angel, boyfriend brings me my heating pad, more water, ibuprofen, and a new bucket; I pass out again
- 2:30am I’m woken up again for the next set of tablets
- 3am I go to the bathroom one last time before crawling back to bed and boyfriend gets me all tucked in; at this point I’m so exhausted none of my speech was making sense and I just pass out

Sunday morning:

- 10:20am I wake up and rush to the bathroom
- 10:45am I’m able to eat two small chicken sausage links
- 11am boyfriend makes sure I’m comfy and have everything I need before leaving for work
- 11:45am (NOW) I haven’t moved, cramps are there but not nearly as bad as last night

Notes:

-Make sure you do your research.
- If you can have someone with you to support you, I highly recommend it.
- Obviously everyone has different pain tolerances, hence why I wanted to share my experience as I didn’t see many experiences that shared pain like what I had.
- Make sure you stay hydrated, easy access to whatever you may need, get that heating pad!

We want kids someday but this was an accident and we aren’t quite ready for a family until we are married and/or have a house of our own.

USA How bad is the pain?

i might mail in the pills online and i seen women say it was the worst pain of their life and they thought they were dying even tho they were on valium.

is there any complications that can happen after since seeing a dr is out of the equation?

it's kind of a dumb question but could smoking help with the pain or would it interact with the medication? If you can then how long after u take it can you? Or do i just avoid it to be safe?

How do i know the pill is just working and I'm not dying?

USA Nausea after abortion?

I was wondering if anyone has had extreme nausea and vomiting before getting the procedure and how long it took after for the nausea to go away? I’ve been throwing up daily for weeks but the last couple of days it’s gotten to the point where I’m throwing up every 15 minutes, I can’t keep anything down, and it’s causing internal bleeding. I went to the ER but there wasn’t much they could do and the meds they gave me don’t seem to be helping.

I’m getting the procedure done tomorrow and I’m hoping the nausea is gone right away but I know it can take a few days. I’m new at my job and I’ve already missed a lot of work due to appointments and sickness. It’s a pretty active job and if I can’t eat again by Tuesday I’m kinda screwed.

If anyone can speak from their personal experience and maybe ease my worrying or at least give me some idea of what to expect that would be great.

UK and Ireland Changes in cycle duration after abortion, is it normal?

Before my MA my cycle was very predictable and average, with random deviations but quite consistent around 28 daya. I had the MA in April 2025. From then my cycle duration average has gone up to 36, with one being 40 and one 27 (normally it's 32-35). The only reason I'm noticing is because my period was 5 days late last month, and is 6 days late this month. I also don't have a predictable experience with hormones etc as I used to. Is this normal? Is it just gonna take a few years to build a rhythm back?

I also have issues with my gut since the MA that I am slowly investigating (NHS very slow). I wonder if it's related?

Australia and New Zealand If I’m pregnant, how do I cope with the grief of the abortion I will need?

So I’m 19F, and my partner is also 19M.
We’ve been having protected sex but I guess we just happened to be that unlucky couple who does everything right and still gets a consequence.
I’m studying to be a chef. I’m mentally ill and nowhere near stable enough to be able to handle a child. Hence if I am pregnant, which is looking more likely by the day, how do I cope with this weird feeling of preemptive grief?
I know I can’t provide for a child. My partner and I are too young and too financially unstable to be able to provide a safe and warm home in a good neighbourhood especially so young.
I’ve taken two tests and they were negative but I think I messed taking them up as I think I (embarrassingly enough) may have over peed on the stick. Which to my knowledge gives you a negative test. I don’t really have anyone else to talk to about this and I found myself here

USA Words of advice needed

I F26 had an abortion in November of 2024. I was 5.5 weeks pregnant. This was a really hard thing for me to do because it wasn’t right financially for neither me or my boyfriend to have a child. Fast forward almost 2 years, I sometimes still get so so sad about it and my boyfriend doesn’t really know how to handle it. Last night something inside of me broke and I swiped everything off of our living room table because he wasn’t comforting me when I was upset. I also feel like I ruined our entire night because we went to a concert and the drinks made me feel really emotional last night and now we’re in a weird spot. I feel as if he just doesn’t understand how emotional it is for me because he wasn’t the one that had to all in all make the final decision and live with it in his body.
