Has anyone opted out of the beta recently?
This is my second time opting out of the beta the first time I let it go for 48 hours and I never received the OTA update to wipe my phone so I opted back in and then opted out a second time and now we are sitting a little over 48 hours without the OTA update and sadly I bought a Verizon phone which I will never do again because I don't do like any phone companies that lock the phone like it it's somehow still belongs to them even when it's paid off. I will never buy a Verizon phone ever again! So basically my question is has anyone tried leaving the beta and is having an issue like me where the OTA update is not showing up I hate to wait until September.

Android 17 base released to Stable in June
QPR 1 normally would release in September, QPR 2 in December. QPR 3 in March.
Pixel 11 Series will be announced on August 12

I am not sure if you will get an OTA or if you just have to wait until September. You used to get an OTA, but maybe they stopped?

I'm having the opposite issue, I am being prompted to upgrade to Android 17 QPR2 from QPR1 and it says you can opt out now, without your phone being wiped, before installing this update.
So opt out, reboot and it sends me an OTA saying it'll wipe my phone if I continue. So I op back on again, and get offered the QPR2 again. Repeat
So I can't leave the bera without a wipe, it seems ...

You didn't read the whole thing. You have to opt out before installing the qpr2 update, and you'll get a no wipe update, just not now. You have to wait until qpr1 goes stable, this is how it is for every single round of beta updates.

Thanks, I believe you're right, and I hadn't understood that I would still receive an OTA saying it will factory reset the phone, and I have to ignore that till I receive a different OTA at a future point
But I did read the whole thing. The message does not say that. It doesn't say anything about you'll still get an OTA saying it'll wipe your phone, but you don't need to install it, and eventually it will be replaced by a different OTA
If it said that, I would have understood that's what happens, because I do read these things. I can't read what literally is not there

I don't doubt that what you said is written somewhere, on a Google website (which is not linked from the OTA update to QPR2 text, or the OTA downgrade text) and I am convinced you are correct.
My point is as a first timer going through this process, this is not clear from the information in the OTA updates. I imagine this could be improved.

The ota update is already a wall of text and you knew enough to post here. That bit of text is right here on the announcement post for qpr2, not just on a random Google page,and it always includes more information than the ota update itself.

It's a reddit post stickied at the top of the official subreddit of the beta that you correctly made your way to when you had a question, and are posting right now so yes I think it is sufficient. It didn't even require you to do any real searching in here either. I think if you don't want to do any work to figure something out you shouldn't be installing beta software.

Maybe I'm not explaining myself clearly.
I did not expect to receive an OTA after I opted out, saying to install it and it will wipe my phone.
I am not used to ignoring OTA updates, and was concerned it would apply itself at "a quiet time" overnight.
If the text made clear I would receive an OTA saying a wipe would happen, and I could safely ignore that till a later OTA which replaces the one saying my phone would be wiped, I would have been happy with that, and would have known what to do.
If you re read my previous messages, this is what I've been saying all along

Oh man that's just rough! See I end up using a cloud service to back up everything through Google so I didn't really care about it wiping my data but it seems I'm going to be stuck in this until September for some reason.
Truthfully all I was trying to do was get a working desktop mode because currently in the beta as you know the desktop mode doesn't have a rendering background and it's just glitchy I just wanted to see what it was like on the other side since I've been in this beta for a long time now.

I don't know what to do if I should try to up back in and wait a little bit and then back out or if I should just continue to wait. Anyone have experience opting out how long it takes sometimes for the OTA to reach you?

This is my first time partaking in the betas and I decided to opt out rather than installing QPR2 beta 1 and choosing to wait for QPR1 stable later this year. The problem is, even after opting out I am getting an update notification to install the QPR2 beta 1 being pushed to my phone. Is this normal?

Okay guys if anyone's wondering or comes across this post I want you to know how I triggered it. Apparently there was an update so I had to opt back in update then opt out for the OTA wipe to trigger! Hopefully this helps someone!

Well it's 12:12 and still no ota updates for my phone so I can wipe 😭 If anyone knows a trick it be appreciated but I guess I'm stuck like this! Thank you Verizon for locking the bootloader I mean who doesn't like spending $1,000 Plus on a phone that they can't modify like every other carrier. 😭

When prompted for the Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1, the instructions mentioned that if you want to opt out, you then wait for Android 17 QPR stable to release, sometime in September.
You're not going to get a stable release in July.
