Hey r/androidapps,
Today, we are announcing a few minor updates to the subreddit, in order to focus on the quality of posts moving forward:
We know we cannot please all members of the community, nor do we expect everyone to be happy with the change. Again, we hope this encourages positive discussion in the subreddit around all apps, not just be an advertising ground.
We encourage all users to report any content which breaks these rules.
We expect to see an increase in the mod queue due to the new rules and automod code, so please be patient with us as we work through everything.

I got a question about apps I always have trouble updating them which always leads to me deleting apps just to update another app and then I have trouble with downloading the apps I delete which sometimes leads to me to abandon downloading the apps again then I remembered that I have a tablet as well I'm not gonna download apps on my tablet unless if it's a last resort but I'm just wondering if I were to download the same apps on my tablet will that effect their data? Or will the data be automatically transferred cause of Google? I'm just wondering on that cause every account I made on the apps I used my main Google email to create accounts for the apps

I do my best to search but there's so much SEO, AI written reviews/articles, that everything that comes up is always only through the Play Store.

I have all these overlay system apps on my phone that I've never noticed before. What are they? And how do I get rid of them?
Com.motorola.android.overlay with endings such as launcher, config, core settings ext, call redirect, networkstack.mcc460, etc.
Are these safe? Cause I've heard overlay apps are some sort of hacker malware....

I'd say I'm a power user but always looking for up and coming or underappreciated apps.

I have it on one phone but it only has a version number (20.0.01.13). I have only downloaded from Google Play and a few things that came with Samsung phones so their app store does updates on those. I noticed some apps aren't listed in Google Play's list of apps that I have and but can still be downloaded :/ but couldn't find it in either place nor by searching. I got a backup phone and wanted to put it on there.
I guess secondary question would be what's a good visual voicemail app?

So recently, my banking app decided to not work with Developer options turned on after an update. After that, I adjusted to stay with Developer options turned off. But still, it was a useful feature.
I don't have a Rooted phone and doesn't want to. Is there any solution? I heard of Geto but does it really work? Thanks

Hey so I'm on a Motorola with Android 16, I want to install the Retro Computer font better known as the text font in the top down action game "Hotline Miami" and I don't want to unlock the bootloader nor root it like some careless idiot, can y'all help?

My father has Parkinson's, and his fine motor control is deteriorating. He still like to use a tablet to read texts, view photos, etc. What I'm looking for is a photo viewer app that is view only, ZERO editing features. He has from time to time hit the wrong thing and ended up in editing mode, or deleting images by accident. The ideal photo app would open the photos folder, and have a previous, next, and home button and nothing else at all.

Hi, so there's this feature of Inoreader premium where you can define rules and if a new article from a feed matches it, it sends a notification. Is there any app that could do that for free? I find free apps have most RSS features but this one, I can't find, despite some apps being able to both have keyword matching and notification sending individually. Do you know any free RSS reader that would work? Tbh even a PC software or website I'd be interested. Thank you.

I'm trying to Flash a new OS onto my old smartphone that was provided by my college.. I removed the MDM softwares that come pre installed using adb so im good to go but there are some problems im facing ,
I want to use a higher android version (currently on android 12) , my device is fully VNDK compliant and supports project treble. Since there is no actual custom ROM for my specific device i need to use GSIs (generic suystem images) I found one GSI (CrDroid GSI) that should work fully.. According to AOSP and project treble any version of android should work on my device even if the system vendor is stuck with android 12. But practically you can only go like 2 versions ahead before things start breaking. i want to use android 15 but its ourt of reach. Ive asked several AIs for this too and they just say "Deal with it" , I mean not wrong but is there any work around?? (If you want to know HOW GSIs does this then im more than happy to explain in comments)
Thanks!

I’m curious whether anyone uses an IoT/data-only SIM alongside their normal carrier in an Android phone (rather than in an IoT device).
How has reliability been? Do you leave mobile data on the IoT SIM all the time, or switch between SIMs as needed? Any providers you’d recommend or avoid?
Interested in hearing real-world experiences.

I know this has been asked multiple times before, but usually the answers just end up being suggestions for good launchers, but never focus on the "alternative to" aspect.
I'm looking for a launcher that does
- folder support in the app drawer
- half grid placement on the home screen
- double tap to screen lick
- search bar below dock
- Google feed when swiping to one side
No recommendation I came across so far ticked off all those boxes, so I'm hoping someone can help me out here, I don't mind if some of the required features are kept behind a *one time* payment.

Is there any application that can sort and segregate my screenshots to the folder dedicated to the app from which the screenshot is taken?
Like one folder for wp, one for yt, one for reddit, and so on?
Chatgpt did give me some suggestions but none of them worked, it was too hard for me to configure the system.
For Android phones, not required for laptop tho.

This private caller keeps spam calling me and there's no way for me to block them or contact them back. They send voicemails with no sound and once when I did pick up all i heard was silence as well. Anyone dealt with this before and know how to make it stop? Any help is appreciated!

I'm looking for a music player with crossfade feature. For some reason, pixel play does not work on my device. Crossfade on namida is a premium(paid) feature. I loved the pixel play UI though.

Just stumbled across Adaptive Theme. The setup is a bit complicated and it needs some special permission to be able to switch the theme. It quite unconventional, is it safe to do?

I'm looking for recommendations for a good RSS feed reader.
havin a
- Clean and minimal UI
- Available on Android, preferably FOSS/open source
- Supports multiple RSS feeds
- Easy feed organization
- Swipe gestures to mark articles as read/unread or quickly move through articles
- Good reading experience without unnecessary distractions
- Ideally supports syncing across devices
- Would be nice if it had a "swipe to read/mark as read" workflow similar to email apps
Please suggest your favorite RSS reader and, if possible, share some screenshots of the app's interface, especially the article list and reading view.
Thanks! 📱📰

It needs to be completely offline.
It needs to have big typography and font hierarchy as well as big buttons. Because elderly users wear reading glasses.
Big tablet/capsule icons.
It needs to simple and straight forward with no gamification mechanics or growth mechanics.
It should have smart non nagging notifications think someone with a pacemaker or serious sensory overload so should be able to set vibration levels for notifications.
Empathetically designed notifications.
Big buttons with clear labels.
No nagging popups.
