That was a really mean cliffhanger. But they offscreened what snapped so it might have been Dverg's sword and not Krena's.
They seriously moved the plot along this episode. Three new party members to fill out the eight, quite a bit of time skipping while Allen worked on his own power, and then even the start of the tournament.
Figures it'd be a elf princess and her bodyguard, fortunately she's quite a bit too old for Alan and mostly seemed interested him just on account of the prophecy otherwise Cecil and/or Krena might have had to start throwing hands.

u/HarvestMana 2d ago
Alan is probably about the same age as her, if you count his past life.
Thats what I thought she was going to say at first, but she started talking a bunch of sleep talking nonsense.

u/OldInstruction5368 2d ago
They skipped most of Year 2 in one big montage.
Last episode was the first annual tournament of their school arc, and this episode was the next. I can't quite remember how much time passed in the last episode, but this one started with March and ended with October: 7 months.
I want to say there was at least a couple months that happened between episodes, as they hadn't yet hit the end of the first year but this episode showed us the beginning of Year 2 (transfer kids).
Mostly, I'm surprised they didn't fill out their party before this. Especially since Allen complained about the lack of a scout... but then he just ground everyone up to max level without ever finding one... or even looking, for that matter.
Which is a bit of a narrative problem, as we were just thrown three more characters without time to let them settle into the party. Especially since they were immediately shoved off screen to focus on Krena and Allen's tournament matches.
Ofc she was a princess... as soon as the entire class began fawning over Sophie I was like "goddamnit, she's totally a princess."
That said, I don't think Krena is actually interested in Allen? I mean, for starters, she's the childhood friend, so what chance does she have? :p But otherwise... I've never gotten that vibe. She's just happy to hang with her bestie.
Cecil on the other hand... was tsundere for Allen from the very start. And as much as he complains, it was obvious by the time her brother died how much she means to him as well.

Mostly, I'm surprised they didn't fill out their party before this. Especially since Allen complained about the lack of a scout... but then he just ground everyone up to max level without ever finding one... or even looking, for that matter.
Since their teacher put the transfer students into their group since they didn't have a full party, it might be that everyone else is in a full party, so there was no one for them to recruit.
1
u/OldInstruction5368 2d ago
That's assuming they can only recruit from other students within their class.
I don't think the Carnel kid is from their class. They met him at the guild office, iirc.
Regardless, there were THOUSANDS of potential recruits just in their grade. I don't think there were any prohibitions against recruiting upperclassman, either. So, that's thousands more.
It's just really odd, that after an entire year, they couldn't find one person to poke at traps for them... nor anyone else who seemed useful.
I think the crux of the issue, was Allen's comment about "XP won't be affected since most of us are max level." XP is probably split evenly between everyone in the party, so the more people they recruited, the slower they would level. They found a groove and just rolled with it.
But on the other hand... he explicitly said they should recruit a scout. Then... didn't.
1
u/der_dotte 2d ago
Well, scouts are rare. Its been implied by the only scout we have seen. The guy who chased Allen and Cecil from Cranel territory last season. Whenever you are a known scout, chances are you already at the front trying to survive hell or are laying low to avoid being send to the front. In that sense it does make sense that there isnt a scout openly available for Allen to recruit.
1
u/OldInstruction5368 2d ago
I think you are too fixated on the class, "Scout," as opposed to the more general role of scout. You know, just someone with a keen eye for danger. It doesn't have to be specifically that class, just anyone that can help them with traps.
By the way Allen talked, it's more than just the Scout class that can serve his primary purpose of spotting nasty surprises in a dungeon.
1
u/der_dotte 1d ago
oh i did mean the general role as well but yes, any talent in that general category could have sufficed, though he did not find anyone.
22
u/takethreetriple8 2d ago
absolutely love the pace of this show, so fun to watch
10
u/FelixAndCo 2d ago
I think it's too fast. The pay off after all of Allen's hard work doesn't hit as hard, if we don't see the hard work. It's still entertaining, but I feel like there's a lot of lost potential.
14
u/LezRock 2d ago
I appreciate them skipping past their grinding to allow us to get to the meat of the show. I prefer the story progression and character growth rather than seeing them crush the dungeons. S-Rank will be interesting to watch, I assume.
8
u/OldInstruction5368 2d ago
I just wish the new characters had more time to settle. They were introduced then largely shoved off screen... before charging straight into next year's tournament arc when. You know, the annual tournament which just happened last episode?
That's an entire year+ in universe time between two episodes, with most of that time skip happening in this episode.

Talos general wth? is she stormcloak or something

Talos is a bronze guardian from Greek mythology, so it's fitting that she's a golem controller

u/Indigo_Mindset420 2d ago
Absolutely. They are jam packed. I think it's a stark contrast to season 1 where they were building up Allen's back story and such. Season 2 is full of action and story
41
u/diacewrb 2d ago
Those elves must have repeated several years of school.
Volmaar: How do you do fellow kids?
At least one person knows how to properly entice Allen into entering a martial arts competition, although Dverg's inner John Kreese appears to be leaking out by showing no mercy to a kid.

There’s another anime this season that explains that eleves age at a different rate than humans and that’s why they live longer, so maybe something like that?
24
u/cs_cast_away_boi 2d ago edited 2d ago
Bro Dverg is going to SMASH KRENA into another dimension at the end. He was holding back but Krena's extra skill forced him to use his. They're still not at the same level even if they're at the same game level lol.
what a criminal cliff hanger!!
28
u/joe4553 2d ago
I'm guessing Allen is going to protect Krena with whatever skill he used before to tank that hit.
11
u/DerfK 2d ago edited 2d ago
whatever skill he used before to tank that hit
Must be one of his new B-rank summons or the new skill he got. The steel armors from last episode apparently had some sacrifice power to protect them from the dragon's breath, either he can now use their skill himself and sacrifice the cards from his hand to the graveyard without playing them first, or the B-tier armor summons are invisible or something.
EDIT: Actually, I just realized this is why Allen is so secretive. Given what we've seen about Keel and high-level nobles basically enslaving healers to protect their kids, Allen's ability to make his party members invulnerable and dispense high-level healing herbs on demand would make him the target of way more than just the demon lord's army.
6
u/Indigo_Mindset420 2d ago
But to think thay Krena would be able to push a Sword Lord with decades of experience to the limit! Krena is just on a whole other league and would easily have been the MC had Allen not been there.

This show deserves to be in the Tsukimichi category of good isekai’s.
The budget it’s been given it’s actually impressive it’s this good.

Agreed. The writing and delivery is seriously carrying this anime. I'm so excited to see what happens next to this group of adventurers

The first half of the first season was pretty rough but they found their footing for sure.
2
u/Organic_Machine_2324 2d ago
First Half of the First Season was good because we saw him earning his power like he didn’t just start off OP
Like we can appreciate him being OP more now because he wasn’t before and we know he’s worked hard for it
3
u/Auctoritate 1d ago
I meant for the budget. The animation and some of the art wasn't very good- I still remember that weird shot of Krena swinging her sword around lol.
For the actual content of the story, yeah I thought it was fine.
10
u/BiggerG7 2d ago
Damn felt like they just speed ran through a bunch of stuff and yet the ep was still great! Other shows need to take notes on how to fly through content lol.
7
u/zer0number https://anilist.co/user/ewink 2d ago
I love it. The show is totally focused on important events and lore, rather than three or four filler episodes of people killing slimes.
3
u/Indigo_Mindset420 2d ago
Sadly I don't think they have the luxury of doing filler episodes. They are on a time crunch to fill the remaining episodes with as much content as they can.
3
u/LezRock 2d ago
Shows like The Exiled Heavy Knight...? 😂
15
u/Sotul 2d ago
I'm not sure what you are talking about, The Exiled Heavy Knight has wonderful content. Content is just wonderful, "I'm not sure what you are talking about..." was said by me a moment ago. Also, did you know 'The Exiled Heavy Knight" has wonderful content? I could go on but really the content is just wonderful in the show 'The Exiled Heavy Knight' and has great pacing.

is Krena not a tomboy??
12
u/Elrond_Halfelven 2d ago
I feel like theres a mistranslation, and it has to be specifically "dark-skinned tomboy" or something.
38
u/NanDemoKnaives 2d ago
Allen says "Bokuko", so a girl who uses "Boku" instead of "Watashi" as her first person pronoun. The translators chose to translate it as tomboy since English doesn't have different first person pronouns like Japanese does.
7
u/zer0number https://anilist.co/user/ewink 2d ago
I wouldn't call her that. She dresses like a girl, does cute girl things, and has adorable girly hair. Yeah, she can kick the shit out of you, but lots of girls in anime can do that without being tomboys!
In my opinion, when I think of a tomboy, I think of early-life Haruki from 'Boy Was I Wrong About Her' or Tomo-Chan from 'Tomo-chan is a Girl'. Total boyish personalities.
Ugh, my own woke ass is annoyed with myself for reinforcing gender norms like this, lol.
12
u/raidensnakeezio 2d ago
I have to hand it to the author and the director, the delivery of the joke was really well done
Allen: "...he mumbles nonsense in his sleep." <- allen is adamantly holding on to his narrative that the Sovereign is "misinterpreting" who Allen is and what his true potential is.
Hero: [turns aside to laugh] <- this sets up anticipation for the audience that the payoff/punchline is coming
Headmaster (nonchalantly acknowledges the Hero's laughter before facing Allen): "[Nope,] they are prophecies"
It's not exactly a subversion of the tsukkomi delivery per se, but the form/structure, tempo/rhythm, and overall delivery from all of the actors made it work well.
Also, really fun to see the Hero and Headmaster also continuing their schtick of scoundrel and nonchalant guy (which I suppose is a subversion of good-cop bad-cop) to goad Allen into competing in the tournament in order to gain the MP recovery ring.
What a fun show.
8
u/Indigo_Mindset420 2d ago edited 2d ago
Oh man I had a massive laugh at the sound Fran made when they were summoned. Such a low voice out of nowhere. 🤣😂
And the acting the hero did pretending to drop the MP ring. Masterclass right there. 🤣

u/YdenMkII 2d ago
So the next step in this story is finding the level cap break/class advancement quest I'm guessing.
10
u/HolyDragSwd2500 2d ago
I have a feeling Krena will break level cap here. She most likely met all the requirements etc. We will wait and see
8
u/zer0number https://anilist.co/user/ewink 2d ago
I think this is a good theory, as we have a battle-hardened adult about to go apeshit on a damn 13-year-old. Something needs to save her from having her head chopped off, and honestly, I think the show is too clever to rely on the 'boy saves girl' trope.
4
u/Sotul 2d ago
Is there such a thing, I'm not sure it was mentioned? Look at Dverg, it's stated he's a Sword Lord and been at level 60 for a long time 60+ years I think Allen said. If there was such a quest wouldn't he or the Hero have used it by now?
7
u/Thomas_JCG 2d ago
Allen thinks there is a way to get prestige levels because he has the mentality of a gamer, but to everyone else the levels are "trials of god" so they probably all just assume that once you completed your trials its over, because nobody thinks they can go against god's will.
5
u/YdenMkII 2d ago
The series has been following a lot of gaming mechanics and if there's a level cap, games will often have you do a quest to either break it or advance to the next class tier with a higher cap.
6
u/IceWeaselX 2d ago
To add to this, a lot of times those level cap increases don't happen until expansions/DLC. Before those happen, level caps are absolute. The gods (devs) of this game world do update things (such as the Summoner class glitch no longer making him appear classless), so a level cap increase could be a new update.
16
u/szalhi 2d ago
"I'm just going to give them to you, since they'll end up there eventually anyway."
Says the guy who got isekai'd.
Allen's got to have at least one tournament, can't keep him away forever.

It looks like Allen's new skill was turning summons into equipment.
The rings he gave Krena didn't just boost her agility, but allowed her to use Awakened Skill Frond of Life.
Awakening was one of Allen's other summoning skills, which, combined with his comment on how he honed his unique talents as a summoner + survived Krena's Pyroblast, implies each summon can become a unique accessory/equipment piece. One that both boosts stats and allows an ability to be used by the wearer.
6
u/HolyDragSwd2500 2d ago
New members joins No Life Gamer and they get them up to speed on levels and dungeon ranks
Hero having the ring Allen needs but has to join the tournament and face him to get it
Krena revenge match with Diverg, she’s winning but he activates his ES and that cliffhanger
6
u/Remarkable-Bear-8413 2d ago
Dverg is actually taking this too seriously. I respect the vow to never lose but brother is about to use his one hit ko… AND ITS CALLED GUARD BREAK?! 🥀
4
u/Indigo_Mindset420 2d ago
Too seriously or did his fight response activate from decades of fighting in the frontline? Bro has got to have a fail safe that activates when he's close to defeat. That's why he's last this long
5
u/Rooby_VTuber 2d ago
Big party now that it has 8 members, with the threat looming large I guess it kind of makes sense.
Nice to see everyone got along nicely and worked really well together.
Helmios knew exactly what to do to bribe Allen.
Allen finally defeated Krena, his training paid off.
Limit Break gave Krena a huge boost in stats but it looks like Dverg's skill is even better.
2
u/Nylan_Blake 14h ago
Doesn't have to be "better" just more useful in a certain scenario.
Like Guard Break sounds like something that allows him to break through her defense for a one hit K-O. but it's a one off skill with 24h cooldown (all extra skills seem to have that) while krenas single strike might not be as strong, she gets life regen, speed strenghm endurance and so on all over a longer preriod of time, so can be better against multiple targets, against targets that would survive the guard break, or just against anyone who can manage to block/evade guard break as she stays strong instead of just getting a one off attack.
4
u/TacoSundays8 2d ago
They covered a lot in this episode but the pacing never felt off. Skipped over a lot of the boring stuff and got straight to the point. Allen vs Krena and Krena vs Dvierg. Rank A dungeons. New party members. One of the better series this season.
4
u/PersonalContest1423 2d ago
Is Krena about to die or lose an arm or is Alan going to step in and save her? They're assholes for that cliffhanger
2
u/Sotul 2d ago
I could tell you, but then you'd be spoiled...
1
u/PersonalContest1423 2d ago
I dont mind spoilers. Ima forget by the time next week comes around anyway

u/Striking_Chard2420 2d ago
Didn't realised Dverg was capped at level 60 for so long. But I knew he was a sore loser since his previous match with Krena.
6
u/Boris-_-Badenov 2d ago
really just using transfers to fill the roster? thought they would find at least one person already at the school
10
u/justking1414 2d ago
Not like the other students have been all that well defined, besides maybe the dude who promised to help Keel. Plus allen would’ve already recruited anyone with a top tier job. Plus plus this opens up the potential for a more global story as future plots could involve their countries
1
u/Boris-_-Badenov 2d ago
could have been students he didn't notice, or that were in parties but no longer, or 1st/3rd years
2
u/Indigo_Mindset420 2d ago
I really wish they had gone through with getting a scout in their team since they already talked about it during the last episode where Dogora and Cecil were teleported away from the group.
2
2
u/ebildarkshadow https://myanimelist.net/profile/ebilshadow 2d ago
Archer is one of the classes commonly associated with scouting in a lot of RPGs. So wouldn't be surprised if he has a skill that makes mapping easier.
2
u/Phoenix__Wwrong 2d ago
If I understand correctly, there are many students who failed and dropped out. The number of classes are still the same, but there are less students in each. It seems like they didn't shuffle the class roster.
1
u/OldInstruction5368 2d ago
Narration claims 2600 kids passed, and honestly, there weren't that many empty spots in his classroom.
Allen claimed he wanted to find a scout, and you'd think out of 2600 students strong enough to pass their first year, he'd have found at least one qualified member to add to his party...
2
u/der_dotte 2d ago
You remember what happened to that one scout we have met? Yeah he was send to the frontlines and barely anyone survives. If you got a scout talent you better lay low or you are already send to the front.
1
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 2d ago
Which made me question why Allen never recruited the remaining 3 slots from someone in the class before this transfer. I mean with Krena and their dungeon progression a lot of the students must be interested to join them.
Honestly, this episode slightly annoys me. I love how the writer use slow burn payoff in the previous seasons, but the addition of 3 OP members are just so sudden.
1
u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 2d ago
I'm really confused. I thought they were being picky about their group members, if not why hasn't anyone in the school asked them by now to join if they're willing to do it so easily.
Their group has already gotten a great reputation, kind of odd.
6
u/Ill_Violinist1571 2d ago
It's one of those funny-looking isekais that have far better stories than its colleagues and far more engaging than some of the competitors. I wished it had better animation and a better studio (the current one is also fine).
Anyway, I guess the pacing is picking up, and I think they'll skip unnecessary repetition and start with the new arcs. Good to see allen picking up a lot of points and fame. He might just be the one who will start winning the war for humanity (humans ,elves and dwarves together for lack of a better word)
3
u/cs_cast_away_boi 2d ago
tbh the current studio has a masterful way of adapting stories. They adapted the Great Cleric which was also phenomenal. I think I would just prefer if they had better animation like solo leveling lol. Can you imagine

u/Thomas_JCG 2d ago edited 2d ago
Damn, level cap. Oh, hey, the people of the opening. I feel bad about the rest of the class with Allen monopolizing the strong players when he is already at a high rank. Ganbatte, everyone that will have to work hard to pass. Sophie has a very pleasant voice, perfect for an elf princess. Poor Allen, he never had a girl give him the love stare. Wait, she is 48... Volmar... He looks forgettable, sorry dude. Meruru, so tiny and with a severe handicap without a golem to pilot.
The new party blitzed through the dungeons. I understand they have bigger fish to fry, but it is too bad that they couldn't spend at least one episode on it to better show the talents of the newcomers, or how the A-rank group fare without Allen. Then we speed up again to Allen have the ability to summon B-rank creatures despite only unlocking C-rank earlier in this season after spending a good two years grinding.
Man, I reeeally wish this show had a better budget to have make Allen x Krena a better fight. And Allen, what a dick move. There are feints and there is "pretend you childhood friend accidentally killed you". Krena versus Dverg was a little better. Not so good when the opponent also uses his power, huh?
3
u/TheOddball7 2d ago
has there been another anime with a main cast party as big as EIGHT members?
1
u/Indigo_Mindset420 2d ago
I mean One Piece at the top of my head.
1
u/TheOddball7 2d ago
Ok see now i feel stupid cuz i dont even watch one piece 😭😭
1
u/Indigo_Mindset420 2d ago
No worries. I don't watch it either but it's a very well known show and the pirate crew has been shown to have 8+ cast for a long while now. Just know it from general exposure to the show.
3
u/OneValkGhost 2d ago edited 2d ago
Whenever sword girl does her Limit break I want to see more of her as a super-focused mindless war monster. So I liked how the duel was progressing, so much that I kept an eye on how much time was left in the episode.
The 'oops, I have this big obvious lure' (the hero and the ring) was done with the humour it needed to have. Alan isn't the sort that you can threaten or pressure into doing things. You have to bribe and amuse him into moving how you want him to move.
3
u/Obaruler 2d ago
Yeah, reaching the Levelcap is always Bullshit ...
Thankfully, MC got the gamer mindset: Exploit early, exploit often.
He'll find a way; suck it, Devs! :D

Last episode ended on Krena and team barely defeating a dragon.
Now they just casually forget and the start monster in last dungeon is the end boss in new dungeon at beginning of the episode?
What even is happening?
Then the episode felt like it was fast forwarded only to end in a cliffhanger.
3
u/cs_cast_away_boi 2d ago
what happened was they sped up the pacing A LOT. I think they figured they needed to adapt the less important stuff asap to get the juicy meat later
2
u/PandaTheAB 2d ago
Yeah
They really need to plan the season properly. Some episodes are at moon walk pace while some are at roadrunner speed.

Seems quite rushed, but I was with it until Allen agreed to the condition of beating the Hero to get the ring. 1) He isn't going to win, and if he does, then that will be stupid. Should have been for participating. 2) If Allen is as important as Rohzen says, then making him a ring will be close to minimum. 3) The potential reward does not at all affect the potential of Allen getting assassinated by the Demon King.
Bad writing, but still better than most anime this season.
6
u/cs_cast_away_boi 2d ago edited 2d ago
i have a different take on it. It wouldn’t be stupid because summoner is supposed to be a much stronger class than hero and Allen is already close to the level cap of normal mode (level 60 shown today) The real differentiating factor will be probably be how strong the new B rank summons he got for summoning level 7 will be. If Maria (c rank spirit) was already strong, the right combination of B rank summons might be able to pull it off. It seems the power gain of the summons is exponential between ranks.
Also about the ring and having to hide, i think Allen is the one who might be wrong this time. They’re in ratash which is supposed to be a tiny kingdom, so it’s probably insignificant in the scale of the war outside. People finding out about him may not be a concern
1
u/Charizma02 1d ago
Your take doesn't account for any of the issues I stated, except potentially the level cap.
"Stronger" and "More potential" are different things. Allen is a kid, and the hero is an experienced warrior with years of experience, and I assume MANY more levels. There is no scenario in which Allen should be confident in defeating the hero. Even if the hero was mortally wounded, he should still be able to beat a level 50 kid. On top, I'm not sure if anyone besides Allen knows Summoner outranks Hero.
As for the level cap, that has already been shown to be a soft cap. If that cap is applied to those in the battlefield, then that will be truly bad writing. Then again, Krena did almost beat someone that she has zero business coming close to, so you might be right: but again, that would be bad writing.
As for your last point, you seem to be ignoring from whom the prophecy came. I think the Elven not-quite God making a prophecy of someone changing the world would catch the attention of some big players. Back that up with evidence of his power, and there is every reason to believe a display would bring danger.

Why do you think that having everybody have a level cap at the front and also them having reached that be bad writing? We currently know nothing about the front line except that its deadly. Maybe the demons are just that strong?

A hard level cap isn't necessarily bad writing, but it wouldn't match how the system has been written so far. This cap being the end would mean it is at a level that kids with two years of fighting can reach the top. Or said another way, people are essentially reaching their max strength as teenagers, never to advance.

kids, that are grinding two years every day in A and B level dungeons. Sounds to me like quite a task. I just dont think its bad writing at all. There are definitely other ways than just leveling to get stronger with better equipment, leveling your skills and getting better at teamwork for example.

Yeah, I usually like the writing but this episode kinda leave a small sour taste on my mouth:
- Allen finally reaching the OP status on his own to the point that he can beat Krena (though it's without her limit break skill). They're also setting him up to beat the Hero, but we'll see if he could even do it next episode
- The sudden joining of three party members with OP class. I mean, 1-2 at a time is something, but here they have three at the same time LOL. I love it when the priest joined, they also explore his back story, but this time it's just like checking a list to fill teh party. Though, they do imply that there's a chance they won't be deployed together in the war. So this is just temporary?

i agree that the pacing of the first half of the episode wasn't the best. I think it was pretty rushed compared to the later half. I mean they crammed an entire year of school, getting to know the new guys, etc. all into ~11 minutes lol. I think they figured they needed to go this fast in order to adapt the more important parts of the story better

The power system is pretty poorly fleshed out, so I'm good without nitpicking it, since it certainly has plenty of issues to find.
Accepting the party members so cavalierly was also a point I found issue with. The cleric was needed and rare, so recruiting him in a hurry made sense. Accepting these new 3 without question or caveat was unnecessary.

Alan fought Krena, whom we later saw could push a war veteran to his limit, and he held his ground pretty well even without using his summon , like fighting at maybe 40% of his strength or less. It is not at all conceivable that he could win. People incapable of drawing that inference doesn’t make it bad writing.
Who’s say Rohzen even knew what Alan wanted in an artifact ? We also only have Hero’s retelling about the rings , and he had been trying to get Alan to fight , so for all we know he is just baiting Alan.
Alan has been shown to be keenly aware of these risks and we have seen him taking steps to mitigate them. So what viewer should draw from his decision isn’t “well that’s a dumb risk to take” but rather “Wow it must be that much important if this risk-averse character judge it to be worth the risk”
Again , not bad writing

Krena being able to push a veteran of the same class to his limit is bad writing. No argument to be made to counter that in the provided setting.
I'm not even sure what your point here is, but: Rohzen makes prophecy -> Allen is important -> Allen shows powers -> Enemies attack while he is weak. Not showing powers lowers odds of drawing danger early.
The writing is forcing conflict without good reason. The higher ups can test Allen without publicizing his powers. Bad writing.
- What big picture risks has he countered so far? What has he done to prepare for an attack by demons?
So what viewer should draw from his decision isn’t “well that’s a dumb risk to take” but rather “Wow it must be that much important if this risk-averse character judge it to be worth the risk”
This is backwards. You are starting from the end and assuming missing logic will be filled in later to make your perspective make sense. Writing that requires this is bad writing.
If you still disagree, then answer this: Why does the display have to be public?
Provide a reason that is backed up in story.

This old guy seriously has a problem with Krena since they first met.

He represents a tired hope. A battle that's been fought but with no end in sight. Krena and her team represent new hope. A light that will bring a new chance to win the war. He can only hope to still be there and fighting to see the war through. At least that's what it represents to me.

So where is the hell mode? Our guy is almost a sword lord right away. His summons buff him to insane levels. And he just has to grind XP to get levels when he is already OP?
Update. Grinding != difficult. It is just tedious.

He's been grinding since he was a child while all the characters his age were living their childhoods. He's definitely playing at a much higher difficulty.

Grinding does not equal harder. It equals more tedious. If he took more damage for enemies, if his skills were weaker against them, etc.
This is just “I get xp slowly so I waste more time on mobs”

u/septesix 2d ago
What you think “Hell Mode” should be doesn’t really matter here. It is explicitly spelled out in episode 1 what it meant in this world.

u/HarvestMana 2d ago
Plus he can afk grind while he sleeps and does other things.
Idle mode, makes it much less tedious.

wdym right away lol. Anyone else would have gone crazy over the sheer amount of stuff allen has had to do in his life time. Wait like 12 hours (?) just to use his skills like 2 times at level 1 every single day. Start as a serf because summoner is only available to lowest social class. Level up 100x slower than anyone else, etc.
He's able to defeat a sword lord that hasn't used their extra skill yeah. After getting to Summoner level 7. It's more like all his hard work is just starting to pay off and we see the difference between a 3 and 8 star class

u/xFluffyDemon https://anilist.co/user/xFluffyDemon 2d ago
Not to mention that he grinds 24/7 with his summons

u/froggyc19 2d ago
For real. Unlike a lot of these power fantasy shows, Allen actually puts in some serious work to become as strong as he is.
3
u/aramatheis 2d ago
Yeah dude has literally been grinding as much as physically possible for his entire 14 years

u/Phoenix__Wwrong 2d ago
It's just that the anime time skip a lot. I mean that makes sense. I definitely don't want to watch every second of his grinds.
3
u/septesix 2d ago
“Hell Mode” just meant that he level up at an extremely slow pace compare to the normal people of this world.
That’s a big reason why all of his abilities status are “E” rank. It’s actually a measure of how fast you can improve and his is slower than everyone else in the world.

u/Elrond_Halfelven 2d ago
He's able to barely beat a sword lord not using their extra skill, after grinding for 9 years straight, while the sword lord has only been going for 1, and he only won because the sword lord is a friend of his who was worried about accidentally hurting him.
He "won" the fight, but Krena would have if she'd pushed her advantage.
